No Bueno, basically a turnover there...ugh

Texans need to play turnover free on offense.
They'll be in this game to the end, if they can do that.

Game is going exactly as I expected. Houston's defense will turn this into a plodding defensive struggle but their offense has no chance. As the game goes on KC will pull away, unfortunately.
I don't see that happening. Texans need to be able to maintain a run game though.
They've managed OK, so far. Need that big play.

Taylor every 3rd down passing play, he's lining up illegally every time, not to mention false starting.
Needs to break the hip of center with his helmet. Not even close. He's daring refs every play to call it....Demeco needs to be screaming in that refs ear every 3rd down

There goes their opening scripted 15 plays.
they couldn’t get in the endzone on that drive and I bet it just gets harder the rest of the game
Goes both ways. Texans 1st drive looked good.
Mixon looks better than I thought, likely had that ankle shot up

You know what, not a terrible result for Houston. They basically get the ball to start both halfs but start with a 3 point deficit.
Exactly this. As long as they don't go 3 and out right now.
Need Stroud to get in an early rhythm, see Mixon if he's healthy enough to make an impact today

Anyone talking P/S elevations yet? It's Virgil and Clapp, who are highly likely to both be inactive.
But the good news out of this (at least to me), Ray Davis likely to play/cleared concussion protocol.

This is the correct answer, can confirm....it's 3

Let e start by saying that I do not believe that our backup rookie safety who has struggled to get on the field is going to play a big part in the game on Sunday.
But if he does.....
I wouldn't be shocked if he comes in on running downs for Hamlin. He is a bit more of a thumper than Damar. The reason I mention is because if we do go 3 LB's or 5 DT's at points I think we go single high safety and Damar is also first off the field. Not saying Damar is all-pro, but dude brings the lumber and isn't afraid of contact...contrary to many on here's takes.
Even if Bishop is a better tackler, it's marginal at best and not something you do at this point of season...my as well start Bishop, which I have no problem with if coaches see him as an improvement.
Sorry this is calling out your post, it's directed at those asking us to make a major philosophy change. There's a saying of you stick with what got you here. Not to say adjustments can't occur, but anyone expecting us to take Taron and/or our 2 safeties off the field are just going to be disappointed.
Plenty of ways to scheme up better run lane defense, and taking away certain options. It's a give and take. Only way you put Dorian in for Taron, in heavy looks, is you're specifically selling out on run defense. Dorian will be a liability in pass defense against these TEs and Justice Hill.
On 3rd and obvious pass downs, I see us going with our 3-2-6 dime looks more than we've used. Put Milano or Bernard in a position to blitz, and more speed with Ingram coming in. Smaller defenders on blitzes have worked to neutralize Lamar escaping

Is he? That's what was announced. But, also for those keeping track at him, Buffalobills.com has him listed on the 53-man roster
He's on the practice squad. Not sure what you're seeing, but there was never a reason to put him on the active roster. They simply dropped Ankou from P/S, replaced with Anthony Brown.
We have 17 players on P/S, limit is 16, but we get an exemption for Kingsley.

Yeah, 4 QB on the 53 man roster seems like a bit much. I guess we have the space right now because we're (knock wood) carrying injured players who can't play, but who we don't want to IR
On the P/S for tjow keeping track at home

Biggest thing will be frustrating Lamar early, Henry will get his yards.
Few things on defense:
1. Every pass rusher, especially off the edges need to flatten their rush/stop at a certain depth point. Get too far upfield and it gives Lamar too many escape options
2. Limit Lamar running on zone reads: we've traditionally played our DEs on Lamar. Need interior of DL to have their best game of season
3. Send extra pressure/run blitzes to slow down Henry
4. Don't go too much man. Id rather we sit in zone and have more eyes on Lamar.
You keep Lamar in the pocket and he can still beat you. But we need our front 4 to show up, and limit his big runs.
Offense, attack with passing game early and often to setup the run. We need a big game outside the hashmarks, Cooper and Keon will have plenty of opportunities.

The +1.5 is juiced at -120. Bills ML isn't even + money.
The line has barely moved. There hasn't been a massive swing.
I mean keep telling yourself that, I don't even know why I'm debating this with you.
But if you want to say the line moved 2.5 points over night, that's still huge.
Regardless of moneyline, which is basically a toss up.
Just saying a big chunk of money has been pouring in on Ravens early, which is usually sharps.

Massive swing?? -1.5 to +1.5 is about as insignificant of a swing as you can get.
It's a huge swing for NFL standards, in the playoffs, that fast. Barring a key injury.
Betting sharps are obviously high on Bmore, which doesn't mean how the game will play out, but it's significant in the betting world.

Ankle injuries linger. Even if he plays, I can’t imagine him being 100% or tbh anywhere close. Hopefully I’m not wrong
It's a knee, not an ankle, injury for Zay.
Speculation is a LCL sprain, based on replay of the injury. But there is nothing out there official.
Harbaugh says it's not season ending/no surgery/Zay is locked in on rehab. All that points most likely to a Grade 1 LCL sprain.
If he plays this week, that range of motion won't be fully back yet. For a shifty player who runs a lot of crossers/depends on his ability to stop and start, make strong cuts- its going to limit him a decent amount.
If it was strictly pain tolerance, guessing Zay would've been out on field vs Steelers. Even Grade 1 LCL sprains make you susceptible to re injury or worse outcomes (ie: fully tear), if you come back too soon without the stability.

At a high level, turnover margin and 3rd down conversion % will be what makes this a close game or blowout.
Trenches will decide alot, as always. I like our chances to be able to run and use our RBs/TEs consistently in the pass game. Riley Moss on Keon will be interesting to watch, i think we have a chance for some jump balls.
On defense, I like our run defense this week. Denver deploys a ton of playaction/bootlegs to use Bo's athleticism. I hope we bring a lot of nickle/safety blitzes off the edge on early downs to minimize letting Bo get outside. I'm expecting a strong game from Ed and Groot, extra rest will do them well.

More than anything in this playoff, another poster already said it. I want to see McDermott play to frickin win on defense. Go after the QB , take chances and dictate to the offense.
I can live with mistakes, I can live with maybe a bad playoff performance on defense. But I can't deal with just sitting back and letting the offense do whatever they want.
I want to see a level of intensity and aggression on defense that resembles a defensive unit that is going to philosophically put everything on the table.
As cliche as it sounds, whatever you fear is usually what you will manifest. Go into this playoff fearless and live with the results
Agree that we all want the defense to perform better.
Circumstances dictate results too. And we are finally the healthiest we can be on that side of the ball.
That said, we need our Dline to step up. Ed, Daquon, Von, AJE-these are high paid vets and if they play poorly it won't matter what McD and Babich scheme up. We need to win with 4 man pressures, more than we have been. Our secondary just isn't built with enough speed to play an aggressive/live by the sword die by the sword approach.
It all sounds great, but the rah rah toward coaching is a small part of it. Front 4 has been our demise for a while, mixing in LY with missing our LBs vs KC.

I think both were good enough throws. Keon has to do better on both IMO.
Nah. You're a good poster, but wrong in this occurrence.
1st pass was too far outside, Keon also got worked into the sideline too far. I'll put that more on Keon.
But that 2nd throw was horrendous ball placement, and I'm convinced Mitch had that 1st pass in mind and put it too far inside. Need to let Keon high point/potentially draw a PI...not make Keon work 2 yards inside to make a catch on an undertrhrown pass.

Again I think Mitch did a decent job with that deep ball. Keon has to do a better job.
Horrible deep throw. That ball was placed way too far inside. need to put it up back shoulder or outside leverage. Keon had enough room on sideline to work.
The reason that ball was thrown inside is because Mitch missed outside in first half. Bad play by Mitch

I'd like to see us be able to run/take a couple deep shots to Keon on offense.
And force Milton into a turnover, few sacks in 2nd half. We've just missed.
23-20 Bills win.

Cook is worth bottom end tier 1 RB money, IMO.
Explosive, great vision/acceleration,vastly improved yards after contact. Can't ignore his TD production, and he's our biggest home run threat.
Yeah, he doesn't play 3rd downs because of pass pro. He's simply our best playmaker on offense, not named Josh Allen.

As certain I have been to over our playoff demise, a chance exists Baltimore just doesn’t show well. They haven’t exactly been a playoff juggernaut and are arguably just as challenged as we are in the post season. Then you have to be ok with our chances in KC if that happened. Our team is built more around defending them than anybody else. It would be a close game (“I would think”).
Denver could give us some issues. They moved the ball pretty easily on a better defense last year. Payton is + over McD in a spot like this. I expect that will end up being a close game. Crazy to think, but Bo Nix will probably be the best QB we faced in the wild card round since 150 years old Phillip Rivers.
Broncos are 4-5 on the road, and that has been recent/season long struggle for them.
Rookie Nix coming to Buffalo for playoffs, I'm not concerned whatsoever.
It's divisional round that will likely be Ravens. They are the best offense in NFL IMO, has been getting back on track. Turnovers and forcing a very inconsistent Tucker to kick in swirling winds will be the difference.
-
I like where we're at right now, without any more injuries.
It will honestly come down to getting 1-2 key stops/turnovers, when playing elite offenses.
Top in forced turnovers, pressure % is solid as is a low missed tackle rate.
What scares me is lack of speed in secondary/YAC, and most importantly Red zone efficiency. Need to clamp up inside the 20.
We will absolutely need to continue winning the turnover margin, or get significantly better at forcing FGs rather than TDs.
