  1. A lot of teams send their scouts home went the board is done. they are scouts only. Most of those guys were reggie mckenzies scouts cause Mayock only got job 2 months ago and didnt have enough full time to get a whole new team. They pretty much have 4 firsts and I def trust Mayock. he has full control over drafting and for so long on nfl network he is usually right about what he says If AL davis was still around id expect something crazy from them
  2. Hockerson is by far the #1. he will be an elite tight end. Hockerson would be perfect to build with Allen. Ed Oliver or the tackle from washington st would be fine to Anyone but R.Gary. Trust me as a michigan fan we dont want him
  3. Haskins will not be a good pro. hes ranked 9th in this class on throws over 9 yards and within pff wise when tis not a clean pocket and he has to move slightly his pff is a 53. lowest wonderlic ik that doesnt mean anything but super low score. Meyer has NEVER made a qb look bad. Haskins was mainly a checkdown guy and any bit of pressure he panics and checks it down
  4. Whats crazy is we couldve topped the Browns offer for OBJ. thats what i dont get. We went after Brown but not him!!!! We have a higher first than cleveland and a higher 3rd! We couldve topped them. And as amazing as Brown is, OBJ is younger and wouldve fit Allen better, bigger body possession guy, Brown more of a crisp route runner and Allen is improving but is still not fully there yet in his accuracy. I am just shocked we would give up the 1 for brown but wouldnt do it for OBJ, even if it was a 3rd to we have plenty of picks and obj would be better than any weapon we could get in the first round pick 10 in round 4 is pretty much a late 3rd, and we have a couple 4th's and 5th's. Also OBJ is already under contract so we wouldnt have had to risk a holdout. If was willing to give a 1 for brown giving a 1 and a 3rd to an elite guy who is younger that better suites our qb shouldve been a no brainer
  5. Yea stevie was the last #1 we had and even him wasnt even a top 10 guy in the league. There were plenty of years we couldve drafted one with our first rounder but the one time we do got stuck with Watkins, and other years too busy looking at athletic ability only taking guys like spiller and maybin. The year we took Witner couldve landed a few good guys, but yea as of last good bit of years we rarely take any in the first few rounds. And in FA dont seem to make any plays for guys that are actual #1's However us offering a first for ant brown was a pure impulsive bad idea. and he is a monster and wouldve been great for Allen, def has good bit of elite years left. And yes we had the $ to pay him cause we were about tied with Oakland in cap space and they paid him. And they got a steal for a 3rd and a 5th. Us giving up a 1 wouldve been so stupid. Giving up a possible great player on a rookie salary is never smart. I am glad he didnt want to come here because we need all of our draft picks, and there is a better class of guys in next years FA. Beasley and who we signed this off season are more of stopgaps and we can get out of them early if we need to. I am glad we didnt end up in panic mode and over pay for M. Jones or Funchees. I do really wish we got Tyrell Williams, gave a little more than Oakland did. Hes a stud with crazy upside great jump ball guy who wouldve been great for Allen. But least we didnt over pay for anyone and next years class will have money rolled over to snag someone. As great as Brown is he prob wouldnt have been the best fit here anyway, especially not with a 2nd year qb who is still in the early stages of developing, brown would end up inpatient. I still am just shocked we were willing to give our #1. Raiders only giving the 3rd and 5th kind of shows we were acting way way way way wayyyyy too impulsive!
  6. With our first rounder we really MUST take Hockerson or Fant. Either one would be so amazing. Hockerson is better all around cause he is a great blocker to. But Fant has the upside he is wayyyyyy more athletic. But both will be pro bowl caliber TE's. Allen really needs a nice blanket TE. Fant with a pro strength program can bulk up and get trained on blocking. But honestly look how many top tier TE's in the past 7 years haven't every really blocked worth a damn. Jimmy G rarely put down a good block. Kelce rarely does, and then even athletic freaks like Jared Cook that dont block but burns every safety when its 1v1, LB's cant cover him and can jump to the sky and bring balls down. (I really wanted Cook) Either one would help Allen so much. Especially because we dont have a legit #1 pro bowl type guy, and honestly we mainly have a much of higher tier 3's and 4's. Tyler Kroft is coming off a bad injury and has never proven a thing in the league, terrible overall #'s when it comes to catching but is a decent blocker. But you can find decent blocking TE's without having to look super hard. But freakish guys who can punish defenses across the whole field are to damn important for us to pass up. Especially with having a 2nd year QB, with a below average offensive line, RB's with hardly any miles left and while we have numerous solid wr's, no real top notch guys that the opposing defense will game plan around. Beast ones have done wonders for young QB's, Kelce helped Mahomes so damn bunch, and he would even get doubled and would free others up, Wentz rookie year had a couple that were great escape route guys for him. And thats what we need for Allen, one freak that he can trust if a play is breaking down and trust to just put the ball up high There is only 2 that will be elite Hockerson and Fant. There will be plenty of decent wr's between rounds (2- to early 4th). Marquise Brown is probably the only one I would take in round 1, Metcalf is a toss up he just worries me cause isnt physical at all and struggled in college at the LOS the NFL will only be harder, kind of reminds me of Troy Williamson while Marquise running around looks like an antonio brown, built just like him. But in the 2nd there will be guys like Ridley Campbell, AJ Brown that will be solid. But there is a massive TE drop off, and because we didnt go after Cook we really need one for Allen, cant go wrong with either, but if pass both up I will be so let down because the drop off in this class is massive no other one is even worth it until mid 3rd round with Caleb Wilson and Irv Smith. While they are both solid its a huge drop off from the hock and fant
  7. He is still a beast. You can just tell his athletic ability is slightly going down. its why he had a lot less td's last season and took to mid season to get one there was plenty of times on break aways with space where he would normally get a TD he would end up getting caught from behind. Still a beast tho, but id rather have antonio brown an overall better route runner but obviously cant go wrong with either hes still a top 5 guy
  8. There is plenty of guys who do that tho lol. Look at Paxston Lynch, Blake Bortles, Blaine Gabbert,Brock Owsweiller etc. Im just saying winning at college on any level literally meanings nothing. Its not as if he led them to any upsets at all. and I love allen just making the point in this specific topic
  9. I still think in the next few years ant brown will be better. Julio is kind of slowing down and relies on straight athletic ability, brown is a crisp route runner but if couldve had either wouldve been amazing
  10. I think it will be a given Allen will be solid. it will come down to our suspect offensive line and lack of running game and not the best weapons around him. draft is essential 5dimes has it up yea and it came down to the last game of the season vs a dolphins team with nothing to play for. our schedule is a lot harder
  11. Vegas is usually spot on. we have to be realistic we will win between 4 and 7. Last year ours was 5.5 and people thought Vegas was nuts because we just made playoffs. fact is we didnt add much on fofense, have old rb's a terrible line and as far as wr's and TE's we are in the bottom 5 for weapons for allen. Defense is solid but dont even have multiple pro bowl/all pros like other teams have made playoffs year prior and then vegas put us at 5.5 and people thought vegas was nuts, they are always very spot on for the most part, do it for a living and were right on the money last year I like Allen but for one they played crap teams and winning in college means literally nothing. Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn Jamesis Winston, etc were all winners in college to more so then Allen. That said Allen will be great, we just really need to surround him with players in the draft, for weapons we are in the bottom 5 of the league especially at TE and RB
  12. HELL YEA ITS A LOCK THEY WORK OUT NOW! Walter football the same guy that said EJ was a steal and would be competing with Brady the next decade, the same guy from the write up who gave our abysmal 2015-2016 classes A's. Mario Williams the steal of the year, CJ Spiller the next barry sanders, and Benjamin the sleeper move of the off season who will have pro bowl #'s and Zay would be a 80 catch player. I feel great now
  13. lmao smh....... because for one once lamar jackson came in all the wr stats went down. and it shouldnt be hard for you to understand beasley caught a lot of screens and quick little outs, while crab always runs longer routes and is a move the chains 3rd down guy. and is an actual red zone threat. He also was questionable every week the hamstring and wasnt 100% and is now. Took Lamar time to do anything passing wise, beasley for that $ front loaded or not others nothing for allen opposed to someone physical who can line out wide. has shown he can get more than 5 td's in a single year.. Of course he will have a higher catch % last year when he is running 3-5 yard outs, try watching the games Even front loading Tate on a 1 or 2 years would be better than beasley even if was a little more expensive, we had the money Regardless we got fleeced on a tight end a no name injury prone bum when couldve had cook and a few other better options we offered him 3x the $ lol
  14. Yards Per Reception - NFL Since 2015 (min. 80 receptions) 1. J.J. Nelson (17.8 avg.) 2. DeSean Jackson (16.8 avg.) 3. Marquise Goodwin (16.5 avg.) 4. T.Y. Hilton (16.4 avg.) 5t. Rob Gronkowski (16.3 avg.) 5t. @TyrellWilliams_ we couldve even got jj nelson for super cheap and been our deep guy burner/ again brown is average but frpntloading tate and crabtree they prove to produce every year. wouldve done much more as possession guys than beasley. we arent the Pats where mediocre slot guys will always be amazing whomever said hes a 1st ballot HOF'r lol. its not very complicated but let me walk you through it. they did want him back, and did make him a solid offer. they have a lot of other guys who took up their salary cap, have a good roster and other guys coming up. The raiders were 4th as far as cap space going into FA and they out bid the chargers. We know what Brown is, while Williams has the chance of being elite and has shown he can be. But yea all the other teams who targeted him as the best possible guy in this years class while brown was nowhere on their top 10's they know nothing If want to say screw williams then fine. But he is better than brown, wouldve been better for Allen not just in the deep ball but as a possesion guy to while brown is a 1 tricker like goodwin. But again forget williams, crabtree and tate produce every year and are much better than beasley Im sure you think we got a steal at tight end to
  15. are you serious? hes 100000000x more dependable than beasley. he is way more consistent every year, is much better 3rd down possession guy. as far as the tight end we got fleeced on there is a few more guys as well "rooting against my team" lol k. cant give any criticism to some people, I remember going through this when I said I didnt like drafting EJ
  16. Well its clear you didnt watch much then. Hes one of the most athletic guys in the league, over the top speed and one of the best jump ball redzone guys. and yes because on that team last year they had a ton of guys who would catches including the RB........but yea all the guys who talk football for a living who all had williams as the #1-#3 best wr FA this year know nothing. All the gm's where info has leaked where he was the #1 guy they went after know nothing. Brown will be solid just think gave a little much, hes a better goodwin. williams offers the same thing just better and also has the height and has proven to be one of the besr jump ball guys How many times do I have to say tho that i am FINE WITH BROWN!!! Just think a little over paid and williams is better but im fine with it. But beasley over throwing front load money at Cook, Crabtree, Tate, Roberts etc is terrible Regardless if not him then get tate or Crabtree and front load them, a mediocre slot guy like beasley is useless compared to what possession guys like Crab could for for Allen. Same with cook and other tight ends compared to the no name trash injury prone guy we gave that $ to. prob 3x more than any other team wouldve given him
  17. I said I wont get into which O lineman i like and dont like because this thread isnt about O lineman. Im saying give Allen some real weapons who have either proven things or have crazy upside and skill sets, someone who can go jump up and get anything and burn over the top. or least get a tight end who isnt injury prone and has proven something. we got fleeced on the tight end $ and we have the 3 oldest backs in the NFL. Williams and Cook were ideal But if people want to throw out this BS about how beasley and brown are front loaded and can be cut in 1-2 years, then give those contracts to Tate or Crabtree. A solid possession guy who produces every year, not some washed up slots. I think brown is solid but we over paid. All im saying is this was the FA class we waited for for years as we cut salary and waited for this year. What do we have? Defense still needs some pro bowlers and all pros, we couldnt add a single one, offense we managed to get older at RB, signed an injury prone TE who has never produced, a mediocre slot and Brown who would be a 3-4 on majority of the teams. We did to solid in o line I am happy about that. But wouldve loved Allen to get more help with a williams, cook, tate, crabtree, etc I am really hoping Metcalf or someone is still around because if you compare the weapons Allen has to every other team we are in the bottom 5 right now for sure. No legit #1, nobody that would even be a 2 on most teams.... No money tight end who is good in the pass game, a washed up shady, a washed up ivory, gore is a solid vet but at that age not like he can take much more punishment Not trying to crap on everyones birthday cake but the reality is we had big $ to spend this year, and didnt bring in a single pro bowler, nor any FA who was even close to the top of their position rankings for this class. No excuse to at least not get a cook or a tate. or a Vet like Crabtree. look at the raiders we had MORE money than they did, they got a franchise LT, Joyner a great slot defender and FS, williams and other good pieces and still have about 4 first rounders (pick 34 so close to a 1st) and two firsts next year and still spent and still spent money
  18. williams is younger and has 10000x more upside. you do realize on everyones rankings williams was #1 or 2 and beasley wasnt right? brown was further down by a bit to. williams is one of the best jump ball guys as well perfect for allen, and the upside isnt even close, brown is just another goodwin
  19. cook was a pro bowler the year before as well. even past few years he has proven he is def one of the best catching TE's in the league. athletic and great at jump balls wouldve been perfect fit
  20. yes he is younger and right in his prime. he is also 6 ft 4. brown is 5.10. big target who is one of the best red zone catchers on fade routes as well. is why so many went after hard and he is years younger, last year was chargers main deep threat, they just had so many guys to spread it do receptions were down a bit. id rather have him over brown and beasley together I just think not giving Cook a 2 year deal was a mistake over an injury prone guy whose never proven he can produce, not for the $ we gave
  21. williams was higher if look ad advanced stats, it went down because he caught a bunch of screens late season. and yes williams has proved he can play big time. and isnt turning 30. williams went down a dip last year because they spread the ball around to everyone including their RB. I wouldve loved williams and brown. all im saying is williams>>>>brown. but wouldve loved both, I can live with brown, but he was also on a team with nobody else around and got more looks (besides a washed up larry). you go ask anyone in the league who is better and all will say williams its why so many teams went mainly after him as the only wr they wanted, and hes coming into his prime and is years younger. most teams agreed and made big plays for him I can live with brown. Williams has 100x the upside. 6 ft 4 huge target for allen, just turned 27 , has already shown he can have a 1k yard season when only started 12 games, its always a lock for either 6-700, for the red zone one of the best jump ball wr's in the league. Brown is solid but we over paid a bit, it can be lived with beasley is wasted money even front loaded crabtree and tate wouldve been better for allen We really couldve topped giants offer on obj to Dont forget Brown has sickle cell, a lot of teams did medical reports and didnt even offer him a penny cause of that risk Beasley not so much, we couldve front loaded crabtree or tate and gotten much better value than a mediocre guy. biggest problem was not making a play for cook or a tight end not coming off an injury who has never done anything. we got fleeced by his agent on that contract. there were multiple other tight ends wed be better off with imo, and a few draftable ones, cant believe how much we gave him I am well aware...already discussed in the other thread that 1 was a for sure 1 good sign, 1 we over paid and is meh, the other is a toss up, wont even go into specifics and detail the current thread topic
  22. those alone wouldnt because we need O line help to but Williams would have been perfect in his prime, Allen needs a legit deep threat and he averages nearly the most in the league per reception. we couldve got him or least made a play on him. Cook is still sitting around and we were quick to give nearly 7 million a year on an injury prone bum and TE again if the whole debate is well if beasley and brown are bad the contracts are front loaded, well if its a 1-2 year rental give the money to crabtree or tate, and give allen an actual legit deep threat, hes not a tom brady yet where all these slot pieces will work we had a chance to get people in their prime not washed up scrubs im kinda ok with brown, beasley not at all
  23. to think this team is a wr away from the playoffs is insane. we need much more than that. But if we grabbed Tyrell Williams and Jared Cook for the tight end wed be 1000x better off. we grabbed an injury prone TE who has never proved anything, Jared Cook is a top 3-5 catching TE....Tyrell Williams has the upside, the athletic ability and would have been a way better move than average guys with not much upside. Cook wouldve been way better than what we got and I wouldve taken Just williams, and drafted a wr instead of shelling out money to bums even if it is front loaded Especially if the front loaded is the argument and its a 1-2 year spot, give the money to golden tate on a 1-2 year deal. or even a big possession wr like crabtree who has a solid 1-2 years left even if we were set on a speed slot guy couldve even got cordelle patterson for HALF the $ we gave beasley we also have way more draft capital than the browns, we couldve power played OBJ and our first and a 3rd, which we have a good bit of picks and beat the browns offer
  24. There is no excuse to get beasley and brown for that over tyrell williams. same with the tight end we couldve gotten jared cook over an injury prone guy whose never proved anything in the league
