He is likely to be a cap casualty.  He is still a very good player. Bean won't be interested, if he is looking for big money and a longer term contract.  Realistically, Bean appears to be constructing the team to make a run in 2020 and 2021.  McCoy's best years will be behind him by that time.  As much as I like McCoy as a player, I don't expect it to happen.

If our GM is planning for 2020 or 2021 then he should be fired today. It doesn't take multiple years to develop a roster to make a playoff run. All you need is a QB. After that you should contend every year or be shown the door. This idea of a 4 or 5 year rebuild has not occurred since the 1980s. Now, you get the QB and then you contend every year. The Bills' prior GMs never found the QB. Was Carolina a 5 year rebuild. No. They got Cam and they were in a Superbowl.  Same with Denver, KC, Seattle, and now LA.

Beane got his QB and gave up tremendous resources to get him.  He gave away tons of talent to get his cap room. Now it is time to win.

  2. What is the upside of cutting him?  They have more than enough cap room to sign any players they want. They won't use all the cap room in one off-season.  He is still the best TE on the roster.

That being said, other than the interior OL, TE is the worst positon group on the team. They need a high end FA acquisition and a day 1 or day 2 draft pick before they should move on from Clay.

I agree that bad calls are part of the game but the trend towards the same teams/players routinely benefiting from these calls is making the game unwatchable as well.

There is no proof that is true.  You are just making that up.  Bad teams commit more penalties.  Good players and good teams don't.

Tom Brady (most hated man in Buffalo) actually accepts less money to help keep his team competitive. He wants to win. He loves to win. He HAS to win.

    I love that about him.

Drw Brees takes the big bucks....I have to wonder if he would have another SB Ring or 2 if he took less so his team had more money to throw around.

Brady taking less money is so overblown. He takes a few percentage points less than the top paid QBs. Its the Patriots moving on from high priced veterans that has saved them. Not signing Welker and Vinatieri and replcing with Edelman, Hogan, and Gostkowski.
