It'd be cool if you could explain WHY he has a higher bust potential than the other prospects.

Eddie is too small and a little short to play DT in the NFL.  He needs some work with technique.  Can not really rush the passer that great.

He was great in college because he’s a very good athlete.  I don’t think that will get as much in the NFL

I lived in Buffalo then and I don’t remember hearing that, but Wolford is a very credible guy.  If he said that, I believe it.  I do remember that Bullough was a clown and fully deserved to be fired, though.

NY Upstate actually reported on it:

So when we had all those Williams players a few years ago they put more than Williams?

Ok but how do we distinguish the difference between two players with the same exact name?

Better, Josh Allen is drafted by the Jets or Dolphins and spends his career trying to sack Josh Allen. And that’s far more likely.

“Josh Allen drops back to throw....looking and SACKED by Josh Allen”

We all managed to survive having multiple guys named Williams on the team at the same time without society collapsing into utter chaos so I think we will somehow get by.

wasn't Aaron Williams also on that team?

They didn’t have the same exact name.  Spelled the same exact way.  It’s going to get confusing unless the LB changes his name.

    Case and point:

”The Bills made a great draft pick in Josh Allen.”

Get used to saying “The QB or the LB?”

For most of us that want a little more insight... my guy Brett Kollmann lives for this draft stuff! He has a great breakdown on DK... not long...you won't be sitting around for 20-30mins but he gives good game film on DK game, 3 cone drill & lack of production.

After watching this... I gotta tell you. He would be perfect for Allen! Can't wait to see the discussion on it.

    Enjoy! ?

Joey B and Matt Fairborn think differently.  Think Metcalf can only run in a straight line.  Does not run a full route free.  Struggles to change direction and make quick cuts.  Might not the best pick for the Bills, especially considering Josh Brown (and Foster) can get vertical

AJ Brown might be the better choice

We had Mario and Kyle line up next to one another for a few seasons.  Nobody seemed to get those two confused.

They have different first names.  You can differentiate.  “Tackle by Mario Williams, with the assist from Kyle Williams.”  It would be a different story if they were both named “Mario Williams.”

Kyle would make a pretty cool “Mario” though.

Allen. They'd wear different numbers. Worse case they call him by his number.

Can you have the same last name on a jersey w/o a first initial?

Freddy was a great guy to have a beer with back in the day. Fun loving, especially in his earlier years. When he got into the media world, he became a bit more critical, almost cynical. As if he had to be that way to lend credibilty to his insights.

I guess....but it sounded like he did some pretty shady things to his teammates.

I just can't wait for the trick play when Josh Allen shovels the ball to Josh Allen, who then throws a pass to Josh Allen in the back of the endzone.

The fans will go crazy for Josh Allen when that play happens

    He'd be such a terrible fit, I wouldn't care.

    Why a terrible fit?

The humor of two high-profile players, drafted back-to-back, with the same exact name makes me want to see it happen!

Yep. The players took the sails right out of Bullough’s wind. It’s old news though. Years ago Smerlas recounted stories of how he and other vets threatened younger players if they made a good play.

I believe that I also read a story about how Fred and some other players tried making life miserable for replacement players during the 1987.  Not so sure why he was thought of as this loveable teddy bear on the Bob Matthews Show in Rochester.  He seemed like not such a good dude

  10. Can you imagine the silliness that will ensue if the Bills draft Josh Allen, Kentucky LB in the 1st round.

It will likely be the first time in NFL History that a football team has drafted a player by the same name in back-to-back drafts.  Also it will probably be the first time that two players are on the same team with the same name - spelled exactly the same.  And if they trade up for him, it certainly would be the first time a team traded up for a player with the same name in back-to-back drafts.

Then there's the question of the name of the back of his jersey.  They can't put "Allen" because of Josh Allen the QB.  Will they put "J. Allen?"  Maybe but I'm not sure considering that "J. Allen" could also be the QB.  Putting "Josh Allen" on the back of the jersey might not work for the same reason.   Maybe they put his middle initial like "J.M. Allen?"  Hopefully the QB doesn't have the same initial.

Then there's the issue of how writers and broadcasters will distinguish between the two Josh Allen's.  Do they give the LB a nickname like "Flash Allen" or start referring to them as "Josh Allen the QB" and "Josh Allen the LB?"

Can you imagine when the press requests an interview to Derek Boyko?

Boyko:  Who do you want to interview?

Press:  We would like to interview Josh

    Boyko:  Josh who?

    Press:  Josh Allen

    Boyko:  Which Josh Allen?

    Press:  The quarterback

Boyko:  Oh I thought you meant the LB.  He's waiting right here.

I think that Josh Allen (the LB) goes high in the first round before the Bills have a chance, but if he does end up get ready for the "Who's on First" jokes!!!!

Can someone explain to me why the Bills didn’t jump on Howard and offered a low pick?  The eagles made out. Cheap last year rookie contract with option to renew or get comp pick if he signs elsewhere. Howard is perfect compliment to shady with three down back qualities. Instead they opted for Gore who is more expensive without any upside?

Why didn't they?  Look at Howard's age....he is too young!!!!!

Years ago I heard an interview with Fred Smerlas (who hates Bullough and calls him "brain cell" because according to Fred, he only has one brain cell) and he said the same thing about players telling the other ones they'd kill them if they made a tackle.  If I recall correctly, Freddie attributed the threats to Bruce Smith.

I don't know about Bruce, because at the time Bruce would have been a 2nd year player.  In the interview Wolford says "some of the veteran players."  Not sure you'd put Bruce in that category after 1 season.

When I hear "veteran players" I think of Fred or Eugene marve....but who knows?

The Bills were so bad in those days, I had seasons and sometimes there would be 20,000 fans at the stadium, and Bullough was the reason why, maybe the worst HC the Bills ever had, so I can definitely believe this.

Worse that Stephenson?  He won about two more games that Kay in about the same amount of time.  Though Stephenson did win 8 games his first year

  13. The Bills post game game show is hilarious because they get the worst takes from emotional callers.  Sometimes its hard to tell whether the caller is trolling or just really misinformed.  Sal especially, seems to get the worst callers.  One time after the Miami loss, a caller told Sal that he legitimately would have left Charles Clay in Miami while the team flew back to Buffalo.  Sal was like "That's your solution?  Leave a teammate behind your team lost?  I hope that I never end up working for you."  LOL

  14. I've never heard former Bills RT Will Wolford give an interview before, but man he was pretty good.  You can hear him in this podcast below (Moranalytics Podcast) and he shares a story that I've never heard of.   So Kay Stephenson was "Hue Jackson bad" in his final two years (2-18 in his last 20 games) as head coach, it prompted Ralph to fire him in Week 5 of the 1985 season.   Ralph replaced Kay with Hank Bullough the team's Defensive Coordinator.... who was also a bad head coach (4-17 record).

According to Wolford, the culture of the Bills under Bullough was very "North Dallas 40-like" in 1986.  He claims players were smoking cigarettes at halftime and drinking cases of beer in the locker room.  People wouldn't believe how negative the atmosphere was in Buffalo and that everyone was out for themselves.

Wolford claims in his rookie season of 1986, that there were a lot lot of veterans who did not like Hank Bullough as head coach.  When the Bills played Tampa Bay in Week 9, they heard a rumor that if the Bills lost to Tampa Bullough would get fired.  He said that the veterans threatened players if they played well and that the team went out and "lost on purpose."  Sure enough the next week coach Bullough was fired and Marv was brought in.

Will does say that Marv changed the culture around and that the addition of Jim Kelly helped as well.

So I wasn't following the Bills in 1985 or 1986.  Can anyone say whether this seems plausible?  I've never heard this rumor before but it sounds crazy!

Hear for yourself....the Bullough talk starts at the 20 minute mark.  This is a real good interview

Verrrrry interesting. In one of the comments below, someone asks him if thats just opinion or if he's actually heard anything. He replies that he doesn't really HAVE draft opinions. Take that for what you will...

I wouldn’t put too much stock in his comments considering it’s all speculation.  Yes he is well connected and credible, but he’s not sourcing anything here, just making an educated guess.
