He's just spitballing, or he got a tip from someone full of it  I recall Pat Moran " betting his daughter" on a Bills story that turned out wrong. I don't think some guys are malicious. Just desperate for that rep-making scoop.

Here's an example of a time it did work out. We all remember when Sal Capaccio was doing his online "Coach Sal" shows from his basement (or his mom's basement as many joked.) Well he was the guy who first learned that Terrell Owens was joining the Bills. He went on social media with that scoop, took a ton of crap for it, but was proven right. It probably led to him getting his gig at WGR.

You are onto something.  “Desperate” is right.  But that’s only because they don’t the connections of a legit writer.  To me it’s annoying to see them sondesoerste to make a name for themselves that they’ll share unreliable information, which many fans take as authentic.

I think your point about “Coach Sal” makes sense, though I never got the impression he was just spitballing.  He claims that he had a source in Buffalo or OBD which makes sense given his background.  I think someone tipped him off about the flight.  I just never got the impression he was throwing it out there in hopes of gaining credibility.  It seemed that he had good intel

I don't think Kevin Massare is deliberately spreading misinformation. Here's just a guy trying to get a toe hold in the sports journalism biz. He mostly reports on UB stuff.

So then what do you attribute his fake news on Beane making a trade during tampering period?

I think he’s just speculating, yet so many fans are quick to think knows something.  I don’t think he does.

Tis the life if you want insight into the process.

It’s easy to stretch the truth to create more interesting stories but also easy for the truth to change quickly. It’s not always easy to differentiate.

I see what you mean.  It just takes one thing to fall through and that gives people an opportunity to say a journalist is speculating.

Still, I just don’t think the Joe Marino’s or Kevin Massare’s of the world have any rea sources.  They are basically fans with a blog.

  4. With the recent acquisitions by the Bills this week, there will be some serious competition at WR....in a good way.  Gone are the days where Jeremy Kerly battled it out with Austin Prohel for WR#3.  The level of quality took quite a jump from the start of camp last year and it might only get better.  Here is their roster:

    WR  1Josh Brown

    WR 2 Robert Foster

    WR 3 Cole Beasley (slot)

    WR 4 Zay Jones

    WR 5 Isaiah McKenzie

    WR 6 Andre Roberts (KR)

This group will be fighting for one or two WR spots at the bottom of the depth chart:

    Duke Williams

    Cam Phillips

    Da’Mari Scott

    Ray Ray McLeod

    Victor Boldin Jr

This is the WR’s of today - I wouldn’t rule out bringing in an under-the-radar UFA or a mid-round draft pick.  So competition will only increase.

The flip side is.... solid stuff can fall apart.

Sometimes there’s a trade very close to done and the rug gets pulled out from under it. Or the jets try to sign a free agent.

Yeah right, that is the ultimate cop out for making up any fake stories.

The Bills almost had a deal in place to trade 2 first round picks to New England for Tom Brady....but it fell apart!

Let's hope none of the Bills signees has a change of heart prior to these signings becoming official at 4PM today.

Lombardi had a tweet early this morning saying hes hearing Barr might not be the only one.....first thing I thought of was Beasley or Brown.

Its not either of those.  Beasley already said goodbye.  Brown won’t get anywhere near that deal with Baltimore.  Pretty sure we are good.

Not Beasley. He's already been pretty active on social media

    BINGO!

I think assuming what a team does based on a potential need is silly.

Bills could very well draft a WR, DT, TE, T, CB etc.

    Depends on the board.

I definitely believe that this season. They seem to have given themselves a great option to go BPA depending on the board

And most people on here eat it up like it’s gospel

Its not just here....it’s Bills fans in general on social platforms who are so easily conned by this type of thing.  Just look how 1 fake Twitter account with a name that sounds like a media outlet fabricated a rumor about Clowney.  So many fans bought it and some are discussing it now in the forum

Avid bills fan for 30+ years. As such I stumbled on this website after the BBMB shutdown ( very thankful).

I read much more negative thoughts on the current front office than positive thoughts. Especially in regards to “filling out the team”.

Im not going to push anyone’s buttons, I’m just curious to see current thoughts regarding the teams front office from all of you up until this point.

Im very optimistic, I believe it’s tremendously easy to spot FO folks that are in completely over their head (Whaley, Russ).

Granted our newly acquired players have not taken a snap yet, however I feel as if the team is on a uptick with much more actual functional talent as opposed to yesteryear hype.

    Whats your thoughts?

You make a very good point.  Some Bills fans will always lament for the past no matter what.  You’ll hear “We never should have gotten rid of __________” whenever a former Bills player or coach doesn’t anything of significance.  This even happened with Nick Freaking O’Leary!  Give me a break

Beane deserves more of a shot than SOME fans have given him.  On the other hand, he does have a lot to prove still.  But the fact is, he made the playoffs for the 1st time in 2 decades in his 1st year.

  10. I’ve been surprised to see the tremendous amount of fake information about the Bills and Free Agency over the past few days.

The first one is a Bills Fans Page of Facebook that has about 30,000 members.  They are constantly promoting a low rent fan blog called 716SportsPost.com.  They don’t report anything of note themselves and instead paraphrase what other reporters aboard.

I’m also going to lump a blogger named Kevin Massare here too.  He throws out all kind of “insider” information and it seems like a lot of it never comes to fruition.  Here is one example:

On Twitter, there is a group of trolls called GGSN posing as a news outlet.  It’s a group of trolls (or 1 trolls with multiple accounts) trying to be funny.  They’ll post ridiculous information about the Bills and you wouldn’t believe how many legit buy into them.   It’s pretty obvious it’s a troll account but they’ll often throw out rumors and get some traction

    Any other sites out there?

I know he is a free agent, but WTH? Seemingly he had a plug-and-play resume and did well as a rook. I know schemes/staffs change, but he was a third round pick. I would say 2-4th rounds are generally the "safe zones" for OL. Early in his career A Lynn was wanting to get him to the PRO BOWL (!)

Just saying: as a team bereft in OL talent, what on earth happened to this guy? He may get a small deal somewhere - maybe LA - but clearly peaked early? Maybe was beneficiary of Woodcognito? Seemed like he was down hill since this story...

    https://www.thedailynewsonline.com/bdn02/watch-story-bills-ol-john-miller-a-pro-bowl-snub-maybe-20161223

"When asked who else he would send to the Pro Bowl from his unit, Lynn didn’t hesitate in naming Miller that man.

“I’d send Johnny Miller. In a heartbeat,” Lynn said."

He's good enough to play in the league as a fringe starter or backup.  I see him as the Russell Bodine of the guard position.  He can come in and give you decent guard play but unlike Tony Lynn I don't see him as a Pro Bowl players.

He will get signed over the next few weeks when these types of players usually do

    What happened? Another Whaley gem.

His drafts look worse and worse as the years go by.  I actually thought Miller was going to be good but he nosedived.  Not a good pick

Their GM is smart, not sure what number they have to spend but it looks like they may be making a cap donation lol

I think it’s 89% each year.  So you can only carry over 11% or so.  My guess is that they will give Tyrell Williams a huge deal tomorrow
