Love the guy. But he's either really good at hiding it or he doesn't take losses as bad as some of the greats.

Either that or he knows it's a lost cause with McDermott running the show.

    it's called emotional regulation.

One outstanding year.........rest of his time in Buffalo averaged 3.9 yards per carry.

League average per carry was 4.2.

His first year,  which I assume you consider good,  was a disaster that started with him refusing to report unless his recently signed and already fat contract was re-worked and extended.   Then he had a bunch of injuries and per carry production a full yard less than the other 2 active RB's on the roster.   He embarrassed himself in a critical loss to Philly where Chip Kelly comically showed everyone why he traded him(because of his undisciplined, side-line dash style of running).   Season culminated in him finishing the year on IR.    He got his act together after the nightclub brawl with off-duty cops and admitted he wasn't following the design of Roman's run game and came back and had his one excellent season but the following season his production dropped like a rock,  proving that his good prior year was mostly the product of the system.    When he got to Buffalo he was hitting the wall,  not the same player he had been in Philly.

lol@ you throwing his 3.2 avg from his 4th year into a 3 year avg from his other lesser seasons to come up with that 3.9.  immediately done reading your post as soon as i see that.

that 3.2 stands alone. do not put it together with a 4.4 season and a 4.0 season which also included 59 receptions and 8 TDs

  3. For all the dummies out there, Diggs' cap hits over the next 4 years are:

31 mil, 22 mill, 13 mil and 4 mil. Definitely not getting rid of him this year. Not next year either unless he goes full Antonio Brown. Maybe 2026.

    Sorry, that was rude.

  4. These people do not have the time to watch 4 quarters of 15 games every week. they are looking stat sheets and making up their own narrative. i stopped watching and listening to sports commentary a long time ago when i figured out that i knew more about my favorite teams than them.

the only guys worth watching are those who actually know how to break down plays and understand the nuance behind the stats.

The most overrated Buffalo Bill of the last 40 years…and probably ever

Shady was great one year and good two others. His last year was bad, but he was old. that's what happens to many RBs as they approach 30.  of course he was fantastic for several years with philly when he was in physical prime.

Because they are scouts and not arm chair GMs who constantly get their scouting news from the TBD wanna-be General Managers and pundits out to make a name for themselves.

But there never has really been such a raw talent that they nailed as a high first round pick like this...is there? Typically, people only know what they have seen before. Where did they see a Josh Allen before?

Even a Josh Allen at a different position...

  7. It honestly impresses me that the scouts could see through the stats, over throws, etc. seems like a guy they would peg as a "RAW" talent and slot in a later round. but there was a pretty strong consensus that he was a top 10 guy.

Though i wonder how many teams that obsessed over analytics wouldn't have seen him as anything more than 3rd round or worse

He will be hired in Kansas City after they win the Superbowl and Reid retires

what's with all the speculation on reid retiring. that guy is gonna die 6 months after he steps down, right?

I'm excited that Ben Johnson will be available next year after Sean does what he does best.  I'm super disappointed this ownership didn't identify issues dating back to 13 seconds.  I've never seen a coach get so many chances. I guess I can wait one more year?

Yeah 31 points (should've been 34) against a top defense like the niners is a terrible accomplishment.

i would replace mcd with a ben johnson or harbaugh for sure, but the list isn't long. if you're gonna start that search, you better be sure they are going to say yes.  and how many teams have fired a guy with McDermott's record. 70% or whatever in the regular season and 500 in the playoffs. We all think it should be better, but realistically, how many are getting fired with that track record?

You’ve mentioned this before but you’ve never told us how you know it for a stone cold fact. Do you personally know Leslie?

maybe he stepped down, but was given a nudge in that direction. ie: "you are still the d coordinator, but I am calling the plays next year."  that's the most likely scenario in the mind of random board poster Man with no name, if it's true that he stepped down.

It's hard for me to stress about that considering we were relying on our 3rd string defense for the most part. I'm a big believer in the 80/20 philosophy.

I agree with this to an extent. on the other hand, it's kind of the same picture we've been looking at for 5 years. And the Chiefs have not looked that good on offense against anyone else as of late. incredibly frustrating.

we were missing the linebackers, but we had many of our capable players in the defensive backfield.

And josh TOOK 2.69 Seconds to throw, which on average is longer than all but 3 QBs in the NFL.

It was a bad throw, but a worse decision. He should have hit Diggs or Kincaid underneath and ran out the clock. Instead, Hollywood Josh took over and lost the game.

again, you are taking a generalized stat of ALL throws and extrapolating to a 30 yard route. get out of here. he didn't have all day, unfortunately. and it was the right call to throw to the open man in the end zone. the end.

Which is a lot of time. Only Lamar Jackson(2.7), Russel Wilson(2.7) and Justin Fields(2.8) had more to to throw on average this season. No excuse to not make the throw.

    https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/advanced-stats-qb.php

pocket time is not how long until you face pressure, it is how long until you release, which often comes without pressure. and when you are throwing a bunch of balls 0 to 5 yards down the field, that is bringing the average way down.

  13. an interesting comment that struck me on the eagles board was that reid had jim johnson for most of his tenure there, and when he left, the wheels fell off. when pedersen had his great success, schwartz was there. and of course reid now with spagnuolo.

does mcdermott have his johnson or spagnuolo on the other side of the ball? nope he wants a puppet who he can control as an extension of his own limited decision making brain.

A level coaches hire A level assistants. b level coaches hire c level assistants, so they can maintain control.

but i don't know what's out there. is there a great candidate we should be hiring?

It's not a matter of scripting, but awareness.  Have you ever seen a player intercept a pass but rather than score, take a knee about 5 yards from the end zone so that the offense can run out the clock rather than allow the other team the ball again?  Awareness.

Look, Josh is a baller all day long no doubt and I'm glad he's a Bill.  But a MVP also has that awareness of the game situation.

    not if they're losing

  15. I've come around this. didn't think he deserved it in the spirit of what the award was made for, but this is a very special case. we don't need to be so rigid all the time.  the man was dead for several? minutes on national TV. I sat in my living room and cried for him and his teammates, along with millions of others. this transcends what the award is meant to be. I applaud the choice, and hope everybody can see it is something meaningful and special and not just another participation award.

he came back to life. literally. he is THE comeback player of the year

  16. LOl@ the bills being 76% favorites with 2 minutes left.

that is what you call a broken computer my friends.

and the bills had the ball at the end of the game? had they scored, the chiefs were always gonna have the ball back with decent clock left.
