Care to elaborate as to why? When a system is designed around a player, and that is what we see in Buffalo, does it not seem like sound logic to have a similarly skilled player to back them up? Josh is a unicorn and cannot be replicated, but keeping the system rolling is a job of the back-up

More because of the fact that it throws off the opposing defense. If a totally different guy comes off the bench, their game plan goes out the window and they need to adjust on the fly. I guess it all depends on the circumstance. If it’s for an extended period of time then I’d rather have a back up w/ a similar skill set.

He’s the best in the league and we all know it. Needed to make one more throw and not rely on the field goal. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway with that defense out there crippled.

Exactly. It’s a team sport. Put Allen on the 49ers and he would have a couple rings by now. Beane needs to give him weapons

Disclaimer: I am not posing as or pretending to be a scout or some sort of "expert." I do just watch and tape all of their games, and for this reason alone I feel as if I might have some insight as to how they may fit into the NFL (and hopefully the Bills in some cases).  OK, here goes.......

    1) Chris Braswell - Edge

Chris is listed at 6'3/255. He doesn't look that heavy but he might be because he is as strong as an ox. I  have seen him more than once shove a offensive lineman into a QB and knock them both over. He is a vicious pass rusher. The combines will tell us a lot about his speed. I saw him try to cover on a few rare occasions with mixed results. He is a bull rusher, not a cover lb. He didn't play much before this season whereas he sat behind Will Anderson and Dallas Turner. I see him as going somewhere between very late first and early 3rd.

    2) Kool Aid McKinstry - CB

Kool Aid is tall and lanky at 6'1"/195. Good but not great tackler. Good speed, covers well and is consistent. Saban took him off of punt return duties because a few times he called for fair catches when there was room to run, and fumbled a few others. He looks to be more of a zone corner imo. Based on the popularity of corners in the draft, he will probably go somewhere in round one. Is he Patrick Surtain? No.

    3) Will Reichard - PK

Very consistent and does well in pressure situations. Not THE greatest distance range but he has improved in each of his years at Bama, and holds the NCAA record for most points. I think that he will have much success in the NFL but it is hard to predict where kickers will be drafted. Saban loves the kid.

    4) Jase McClellan - RB

Good, consistent, versatile RB. He doesn't have outstanding strength or speed but he is not slow or weak. His biggest asset (imo) is his ability as a receiver. That said, he really is an all purpose back who plays hard and is a decent blocker. Jase is a late round pick imo.

    5) Jermaine Burton - WR

Burton played two seasons at Bama (transfered from UGA). Jermaine has good speed, very good hands and seems to get open with ease. He would appear to be a terrific target for Josh. I think that his stats were hampered by having Milroe at QB. Milroe did not make quick decisions and runs quite often, and I suspect that Burton was frustrated at times.  Now, a couple of people who claim  to have inside info told me that he is a bit of a head case. I have no idea if this is true but this kid can play. Would I like to see him on the Bills? Absolutely, and I don't see him listed as a first round pick in most mock drafts. I think that he will last until round 2 but who really knows?

    6) Dallas Turner - Edge

Very talented, extremely consistent player. Smart, strong, fast, and VERY quick pass rusher. He can even cover. He didn't miss a beat after Will Anderson left for the NFL and will probably continue to improve. Early to mid first round pick imo.

    7) JC Latham - OT

JC was projected to play LT this season but his weight balooned up and he played the right side. He has AMAZING strength. I am talking about insane amounts of weights that he pushes around and he is still agile. An ex-Alabama player told me that he thinks that the weight gain is simply due to over eating. This will probably cost him millions of dollars in terms of his draft slot. I'm a bit put off by overweight RTs. I guess I am still recovering from Mike Williams syndrome lol. That said, he was crushing folks on the right side.

    😎 Terrion Arnold - CB

😎 Terrion is a great player imo. He covers, blitzes, is strong, and defends the run. He gets less discussion than Kool Aid but I think he is a better player. He is listed at 6'0"/196 but plays bigger. He is said to be very smart and a hard worker. Saban loves this kid. He will probably gain some weight and muscle in the NFL and could wind up at safety, I don't know. What I do strongly believe is that some NFL team is going to be very lucky to draft this kid. He might last until round 2.

    9) Justin Oboigbe - DE

Solid, much improved player in 2023. Big strong kid. Held the edge well and good pass rusher. Combines will be interesting. Listed at 6'5'/295. He was hurt in 2022, came back strong last season. Very interesting player, will probably go in the 3rd or 4th round.

    10) Jaylen Key - S

Only played one season at Bama and was not a starter. When he did play he was very good. He will be a late round pick or a UDFA.

    11) Trezman Marshall - ILB

Good if unspectacular player. Another Georgia transfer. Plays hard, could make an NFL roster.

I hope the Bills draft Kool Aid just based on his nick name. That’s gotta be the best one yet. Where in NYC are u from ?

Which is why unless the Bills just extend Kyle A, I for one would gladly welcome Mitchell Trubisky back to the squad.  He seemed to enjoy it here, and isn't going to command any compensatory picks or a salary anywhere near what Pittsburgh just paid him. He'll likely not get much interest elsewhere to come in and compete for a starting job. In theory, he could lay down some roots here as a backup.

Barkley, Trubisky, Keenum, Kyle A, the Bills have shown they value having a veteran in that role. And he'd obviously be a good fit with Josh, has plenty of experience, has good mobility, get 'er done Beane!

I might be alone in this, but I’d rather have a completely different style backup than Josh. Joe Flacco would be ideal.

I wasn’t referring to Hamlin. He’s a fringe player. Tre White is already a great example of a player that should’ve been traded 2 seasons ago.

The Bills have a different issue going on now also. Most of our players on defense aren’t tradable due to McD’s scheme. It very well could be true that not many teams were really interested in White’s services a few years ago.

If you think back to Carolina and Josh Norman at his peak, there wasn’t a huge market for him compared to Revis and others because he was strictly a zone guy. He did get paid in Washington but it was clear that there wasn’t much interest elsewhere.

But, it’s done. It’s fine. We didn’t get out in front of that one but the decision is easy now with White.

Will Beane prove my point? I bet he does.

Why the hell would u trade away an All pro CB like Tre White in his prime? The injury was not foreseeable and his trade value plummets if they tried trading him post injury. People don’t remember how good White was in his prime. A true lock down corner.

  6. Stefon Diggs needs to go and is a cancer to the locker room. He was a great receiver, but I feel like Allen feels obligated to get him the ball to keep him happy. I used to think it was because he was competitive, but now I think he’s an immature baby. The tweets from his brother solidified that. Take whatever cap hit there is and get rid of him. Get rid of Davis as well. Run the offense through Kincaid, a veteran WR from free agency, and a first round rookie. Spread the ball out more. Diggs just isn’t good enough anymore for the Bills having to put up with him. Allen turned him into a top 5 WR and I think he should be a little more thankful.

Allen is 2x as mentally tough as Mahomes.

We all saw Mahomes true nature after the Kadarius Toney incident trying to go after a ref. He is every bit worse than Tom Brady and just as unlikeable. Meanwhile, Josh Allen loses w/ dignity and is a great person on & off the field. One of my favorite clips…

  8. I’d rather roll the dice on a promising rookie. Idk why these lucrative back up spots go to proven trash

The bar for Lamar is lower than any QB in NFL history.

And the bar is set to near impossible standards for Josh Allen despite him putting up Madden numbers every season while also managing to win playoff games despite horrid defensive and coaching performances. His turnovers are an issue, but a way overblown one at that because he usually wins. Lamar wasn’t even the better runner this year. This whole situation stinks and the people who try to justify it sound nuts. Thankfully, the play on the field is what matters. The Ravens couldn’t even manage more than 14 points on a Chiefs team who was worn out from a hard fought road game in Buffalo. I like LJ, but he has way too many limitations to be on the same level as Allen who can literally do everything.

  10. Tyrod Taylor 2015 - 3035 20/6 passing 568 rushing 4 TDs

    LJ - 3678 24/7 passing

    821 rushing 5 TDs

I wonder if a QB has ever won MVP w/ less than 30 total TDs? For the people who say it isn’t about stats, it certainly has been about them in previous seasons. Every teams QB is their most valuable player and Josh accounted for more total offense than LJ did.

Younger folks don't understand how preternaturally special OJ was as a player (ignoring for a moment how horrible he was as a human being).

While today we talk about franchise quarterbacks, in the old days most offenses were built around running backs.  RBs won more Heismans than QBs and were the #1 overall draft pick more often.  In those day, the best athletes became RBs.

Back then defenses were designed to stop RBs unlike the defenses of today that are schemed more for the pass.  So forget nickel and dime.  You needed more guys at the line of scrimmage to prevent the likes of Jim Brown and OJ from getting into the open field where they'd destroy you.  And LBs back then weren't small rangy guys with good coverage skills.  They were hulking, violent thumpers like Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary, and Jack Lambert who would hit you so hard that your internal organs would burst out your anus.

And rules favored the defense back then.  For example, hash marks were spread further apart, making sweeps and other wide plays predictable.  And blockers couldn't use their hands like they can today.  Rules allowed for more brutal tackling back then, too (you could lead with your helmet, etc.).

In his time - at the tail end of the golden era of RBs - OJ stood head-and-shoulders above his talented peers.  In 1973, OJ nearly doubled the rushing output of the next-best guy (2003 yards vs. 1144).  What RB, before or since, has ever been that dominant?  As a matter of fact, what QB has ever been that statistically dominant?  Certainly not Brady, the consensus GOAT - he was never close to OJ's level of superiority.  OJ's dominance was unmatched.  Bills opponents schemed, practiced, and planned with one thing in mind: slow OJ down.  They put Pro Bowl spies on him.  But OJ was an unstoppable Force of Nature.

    No...so far he's better

lol I know this board is bias for obvious reasons, but come on. Mahomes is great, but he’s going to need at least another decade of stellar play plus a few more titles to be in the Brady category. Brady also beat Mahomes head up in the AFC championship and Super Bowl. If he were to retire today he would be closer to the Brett Favre tier. I think he is well on his way to the GOAT conversation, but still lacks the longevity and the rings. The AFCW is not going to be a cakewalk anymore either w/ Harbaugh there now. The conference as a whole is absolutely loaded now w/ good QBs too. I don’t think Chiefs are going to be a dynasty like everyone thinks. I am really interested to see how their offense looks without Travis Kelce.

  14. I know there are much worse QBs statistically, but I can’t believe nobody mentioned Rob Johnson. Peterman was a 5th round pick without many expectations to begin with. The amount of resources to get RJ along w/ his terrible robotic play and the Flutie benching make him the most disappointing QB in Bills history. I’ll stand by that opinion until the day I die.

He's only 27. Peyton Manning didn't win his first playoff game until he was two months shy of 28. Manning was 0-6 in his first six games against Brady; Allen was 3-3 in his first six against Mahomes.

I have my issues with how the team has been constructed since he was drafted, but let's not get crazy about any window being "wasted" or dwindling.

As long as Allen is healthy, the SB window will always be open. The main problem is the defense and the unlucky injuries to star players. I believe the planets will align one of these years and the Bills will win one. McDermott coaching also needs to improve.

Allen's four passing touchdowns vs Miami week 4 extended his NFL record 12-game streak with multiple passing touchdowns against a single opponent.

He also becomes the second player in NFL history with 300+ passing yards, 4+ passing TDs, 1+ rushing TDs & a perfect passer rating in a single game.

In week 6, Josh Allen throws his 150th and 151st career touchdown passes, taking just 82 career games to do so, the fifth-fastest pace in NFL history

Week 8, Josh Allen surpasses Steve Young (43) for second place on the NFL's all-time list for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, (44) trailing only Cam Newton (75).

Week 10, Josh Allen ties Jim Kelly's team record of 18th consecutive game with a TD pass.

Week 12, Josh Allen joins Cam Newton as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to have four seasons with 8+ rushing touchdowns.

Week 15, Josh Allen records 10th game this season with 1+ passing and 1+ rushing TD, setting an NFL record.

Week 16, QB Josh Allen becomes the first player in NFL history to record 40 total touchdowns in four consecutive seasons.

Week 18, Josh Allen sets NFL record with 9th career game of passing for 300+ yards and rushing for 50+ yards.

Allen becomes the only player in NFL history with statline of: 350+ pass yards, 65+ rush yards and 75%+ completion rate in a single game.

Allen finishes the season leading the NFL in total TDs (44) and total yards (4,830).

    Any more questions?

Allen is twice the QB Lamar is and that’s an absolute fact. Watch the tape or just look at the stat lines. He also doesn’t go one & done in the playoffs every year. The MVP award is a joke. I hate to say it, but if Lamar put up Allen’s numbers and Allen put up Lamar’s numbers plus winning the MVP, the media/fans would be livid.

Unfortunately I think the standards with the owner and half the fanbase are so low, that I’m not even sure another massive postseason disappointment gets McD Cannes.

Terry and a lot of fans feel that simply a Divisional Round exit with an elite QB is a huge accomplishment. It’s happened 3 years in a row and they want more of it.

I think if it was somewhere else, this could be a good analysis of the situation by Brady. Here, I’m not so sure. I guess if the offense is solid he probably feels he could still get hired away.

If McD loses to the Chiefs in the post-season next year then I think he’s toast and I would 100% agree w/ that decision.
