I am trying to not corner myself into one player this year, because it never seems to go the way I want it to. Instead, I’m trying to put some of the WRs in a bucket and hoping for one of them.

Right now, I would take one of Brian Thomas, Troy Franklin, or AD Mitchell at 28. It seems as though Franklin and Mitchell might still be somewhat realistic. Thomas may have put himself firmly in the top 20 after yesterday.

Mitchell has that big game pedigree that we need. Cosell also loves him and says he thinks he might be a top 10 wr in the league in 3 years. Good enough for me…

Mitchell would be my pick. He just needs to add 10-15 pounds. Reminds me of CeeDee Lamb. I would be ecstatic. Kincaid and Mitchell in back to back drafts. I think he’s someone that can make a big impact in his rookie year. Having Diggs also gives him a little time to develop as well.

Well we didn’t have Milano or Bernard. I’ve seen Milano in the playoffs, so far he hasn’t been that impact guy. Not sure he’ll all of a sudden be that guy as he gets deeper into his 30’s.

Bernard is the guy I’m hoping steps up in the playoffs because we haven’t seen him in the playoffs yet.

That’s not true. Milano was one of the only players that showed up during the Cincinnati disaster.

With all the discussion on needs at WR I get the feeling the "need" is not quite what many think it is.  I think they should expend a premium draft asset (first or second round) this year to try to find the next #1 guy.  In addition to that, some kind of vet who can step in if needed and certainly open to another draft pick on day 3 where the Bills have found both Davis and Shakir.  The Bills have Diggs as a #1, there is some chatter if he is still that, I think he is.  I think his skill set is something that can work for an older receiver.   That big question is the drop off in production once Brady took over, can that be changed?  I would like to think so.  But I think with Shakir coming on along with Kincaid, if they add one more premium asset they are in pretty good shape as far as weapons go.

But the point of this thread is Khalil Shakir.   He really came on the final 10 games last year where he was nearly at a 1000 yard pace.  Is he a potential Beasley type security blanket for Josh with upside in RAC?   Beasley was a master of finding a hole and letting Josh hit him, I think Shakir can do that but he can actually do much more.  Or maybe they are completely different.  Shakir can play outside too, I like him as a prospect moving forward.    Do you guys see him as a slot receiver with Diggs and future #2 and Kincaid where they go back to more 11?

    An Aquarius I believe.

    Why do you think that?

Whitner was picked 20 picks too early, and there Ngata was there for the taking.

28 is the range for Chop.  I haven't seen him play a down but am interested in your negative opinion.

I think he’ll be a good player, but considering how much money and resources we already have tied up in the D-line I’m really not sure it’s the best position to draft w/ the 1st pick plus the fact that it’s a rotation so he wouldn’t see much time on the field anyway. If it’s anything other than a WR, I will be disappointed. If Beane is gonna go defense then get a premium safety or even a CB if the value is there. Josh needs weapons and somebody is going to need to replace Davis.

    28. Buffalo Bills: Chop Robinson, DE, Penn State©Dan Rainville / USA Today Sports Images

An edge rusher is high on Buffalo's wish list with the potential departures of Leonard Floyd and A.J. Epenesa. Robinson fits the mold as long, projectable edge rusher.

    5 WR taken before 28:

    4. Arizona Cardinals: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

    6. New York Giants: Malik Nabers, WR, LSU

    14. New Orleans Saints: Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

    17. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

    26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

This would be on par with picking Donte Whitner level of stupidity.

I know it's lame to complain about the refs, but if that game had been officiated to the standard we saw in the regular season Ed would've drawn at least 3 holding penalties. There was an egregious no call on Floyd too

Yeah, that’s pretty much the norm every time we play them. A lot of no calls in the SB as well.

Between Beane's presser and Tasker's views on the secondary, I have a feeling that Douglas will be released for cap savings.  I think it will be a mistake, particularly if the Bills think Elam can be a starter at CB.

I don’t think this board will like it, but I think they are going to draft a CB in the 2nd round. I am personally not against it as long as they go WR in 1.

I wouldn’t even say he “fell” to 10. Most of the pre draft rankings had him as a late 1st-2nd round prospect. Technically he shouldn’t have even gone ahead of Deshaun Watson.
When the Bills made the trade with KC, the Bills braintrust figured it was for Watson, Terry thought he could still get Mahomes at the back of round 1. He actually wanted to take him at 10, but McD hadn’t scouted QBs so he wanted to wait. Whaley was on record as saying “it’s your team, Mr Pegula, you can do whatever you want.” Pegula sided with his new coach, McDermott, and the rest is history.

Where is your source ? I’ve never heard of this before.

I would wait on Von. If he gets his confidence back he can still be an impact player for us

That would be a pleasant surprise, but Beane & co need to keep expectations as low as possible and not depend on Von ever getting back to form. Just how they worked around Tre White by having a capable starter to come in for him.

To piggy back off this, the best, most consistent players we have on defense were not big FAs or first/second round picks.

    Milano - R5

    Bernard - R3

Hyde - Not a top tier FA

Poyer - Wasn’t even considered a good player when we signed him.

Jones - Solid, but not a top tier FA

    Benford - R6

Douglas - Really struggled early in his career, R3 pick traded.
    Dodson - UDFA

    Johnson - R4

    Epenesa - R2

Ed looked good last year, but took 2-3 years to develop.

    Groot looks good.

Edmunds took 2-3 years to develop into a game manager MLB.

Never heard a position other than QB called a game manager 😂

I saw this on Gabe’s Instagram tonight, but then found someone who posted to Twitter too, so posting both links in case it’s easier for someone to watch one over the other.

Kind of looks like he is putting this out to both highlight his time here and promote his accomplishments ahead of Free Agency.  Smart move.

Even though I’ve been in the camp to let him go and draft a WR this year, this was still a fun watch and he has brought some big moments and games to his time in Buffalo.  He makes a good case for himself at the end with the stats and rankings combined with the low targets compared to others.

Overall this is a great piece for himself ahead of free agency and so enjoyed it and I wish him well.

13 seconds was the best game I’ve ever seen from an NFL WR. Davis was running wild allover that KC defense. I feel like his legacy would’ve been a lot different if the Bills had won bc I firmly believe they would’ve got a ring that year. I’m kind of torn on wanting him back because of the potential he showed in the past. Ultimately, he’s just too inconsistent, but I’d hate for him to go somewhere like KC or the Chargers and put it all together.

We talk a lot about DHop, about Evans, about all these older dudes.

Let’s talk about some younger WR’s who have to be sick wasting their careers away.

Terry will be 29 years old in the upcoming season. He is entering the last year of his “big” contract before the potential out. And he is an “old guard” player with new and shiny head coach Dan Quinn taking the reins.

If traded pre 6/1, he will have a cap hit of $7M to his new team, which is relatively cheap. With Stef on his way out potentially next year, this sets Josh up with an “in his prime” WR ready to take over as WR1.

Stef could also be included in the package, but then we would be talking post 6/1 otherwise the financials get wonky.

Is he intriguing? Is he an upgrade over $10M AAV for a Mooney or Curtis Samuel? His price tag may be as high as a first or a second and other stuff.

I hope so. I’ve always been a fan of his game. He’s got tremendous RAC ability which would be a breath of fresh air on this offense. Love the physicality he plays with.

Totally agree....if he was a couple years younger maybe, but averaging 5tds/ season hardly screams someone Josh deserves.  Terry's catch rate of 62% is a little low too.  I'd rather draft 2 young guys and hope one becomes the WR1 stud to replace Diggs.

Well, looks who’s been throwing him the ball.

He also said that Beane hasn't built a Super Bowl-caliber roster yet.  Which I disagreed with, as his team - which is clearly SB caliber, as they won it - barely squeaked by a very beat-up Bills team in the playoffs.  I mean, if Diggs makes that catch, it's a very different game.  If Chris Jones gets there a half second later, it's a different game.  We were right there w/ KC - so how were we not SB caliber?

And I'd disagree a bit on superstars.  Diggs is a superstar.  I don't think he was healthy down the stretch.  Kincaid is a superstar in the making.  We have one of the better pass rushes in the league.  Our O-line is as good as it has been in the JA era.  Cook is easily a top 5 RB.

EDIT:  I completely forgot to add how much I enjoy KC fans coming here and Chiefsplaining to us why our team isn't good enough.

Exactly. How many “superstars” did New England have all those years ? Randy Moss of course and Vince Wilfork. Wes Welker if you count slot receiver as its own position. I’d rather have a team loaded w/ very good players and a couple elite ones at important positions like QB/DT/WR.

The Jets game was just weird.  The season opener, Rodgers getting hurt early, Allen kind of falling apart.  But after that, we tore through September.  Allen was firing on all cylinders, and the defense was as good as I've seen in the McDermott era.  It was smothering, aggressive, flying to the ball.  Man, was that D good.

Our D when we faced KC at the end was a shell of that D.

Every team has to deal with injuries.  No doubt.  But seriously, who dealt w/ more, and which team was clearly impacted by losses? We lost Hines & Damien Harris before things really started.  Then, in one fell swoop, we lost Milano, Tre & Jones.  Arguably the top 3 guys on our defense.  Then we lose Benford, Rapp, Spector and Bernard, the latter of whom had picked up the slack in ways that were completely unexpected. So excited to see him AND Milano on the field this coming season.

It wasn't just that we had to navigate the playoffs without quite a few of our best players. Even some of the guys playing, like Rasul Douglas, were clearly playing hurt and less effective.

People always say the same thing:  "excuses, excuses."  To which I respond:  "reality."  If KC had the extent of injuries we had, and we were as healthy as they were, I have no issue saying that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell they would beat us.

You’d have to think that Milano, Bernard, etc would’ve ultimately made the different in a 3 point game against KC.
