Comment: Spragan is a six-year veteran with good size and above-average athletic ability. He has played outside and inside linebacker for the Dolphins since being acquired in 2005. He has good range in chase but is not fluid laterally or with his change of direction. He is competitive but is inconsistent around the pile. Spragan has good strength versus the run but only flashes hand use and is inconsistent to separate effectively. He is an average reactor and does not appear to have great instincts. He loses leverage too often and needs coverage work to be effective in the passing game (route recognition, etc.). Spragan needs an expanded pass rush package (hand use, counters, etc.) to be productive pressuring the quarterback. He has been a part time starter for Miami over the past two seasons (nine games in 2005 and 2006) but isn't a natural football player with the potential to be an outstanding contributor. He does have experience and has been a solid special teams player but is on the bubble of being and average starter or a good backup.
