Beasley last year was the guy who reliably and consistently moved the chains.  This year, not so much.  I don't know if he's lost a step or if defenses are playing him better or if the rotten O line is not giving Allen time to go through his progressions and find Beasley.  But Knox (with some painful exceptions) seems to have developed into a good, move the chains, kind of TE.  And we have McKenzie.  So we can get by without Beasley.

Why are you questioning Beasley's value to this team.He gets open all the time, he never drops anything and he's  as good as any slot receiver in football. Ask Josh, who is the guy he trusts most. Diggs and Cole. Knox is coming on but he's got to do a lot more in big spots to compare his value to Cole. Don't use his Vax status against him, and please don't compare him to McKenzie. That destroys credibility.

  2. Beasley is a victim of this omicron variant and protocols that will be adjusted to enable games to be played. 10 days to quarantine even with a negative test and this variant proven to be mild, shows an inflexibility in NFLmedical approach. They never acknowledge natural immunity or vaccinated and boosted players having the majority of positive tests. These players can return after one negative test and never be tested again. It makes no sense.

  3. The way to improve officiating is to discourage holding away from ball carrier and stop calling  personal fouls on marginal QB hits and sideline plays. Also, remove officiating teams from competition if they disproportionately are way above the average amount of penalties called over the course of the last 1/4 of the season. This will have an immediate impact.

  4. No more excuses like weather for our team. Just go out and beat NE. Show the fans that we're still a factor in the tournament. NE has been the dominant force in the AFC east for 2 decades. We have been sleepwalking through this season. Beating the under 500 crowd doesn't reinforce confidence. Get it done against a good team and we can march into the playoffs with some momentum.

Well Hampton,  I may not agree with you on Edmunds but you are absolutely 100% right on this. Beane and McDermott should not be going anywhere. Yes they have flaws in their jobs but their positives should outweigh the negatives. They need to sit down together and realize the future of this team has to be building a monster offense around your superstar. I know it goes against every fiber in McD's defensive nature. I'm convinced if we had spent more resources on the OL/RB last offseason we would not have lost to Pittsburgh,  Jacksonville and that 1st NE game. That would put us at 10-3. If they continue to value defense over offense in the next couple years then it will reflect terribly on this organization.

Good analysis. These guys are such positive thinkers, sometimes they overvalue the  talent they bring in,and misjudge their ceiling. Josh overcomes most personnel mistakes, but as you so eloquently stated, to maximize his talents and protect him from injuries, the O-line must be fortified. A good back like Chubb or Harris would make us tough to deal with.

  6. Every reason to be bitterly disappointed in the season with regard to coach and GM. I'm not calling for their ouster but they killed momentum with personnel decisions in the offseason as well as GameDay. By standing pat with an O-line that got dominated by KC last year and to rely on a d-line anchored by Hughes, Star and Addison, with an unproven draft class of undersized kids along with an underachieving Epenesa. These poor decisions were exacerbated by the inability to acquire depth at RB or TE, resulting in a negligible running attack and limited protection for our great young QB. When a team gets to the conference championship and then cannot beat a team over 500% except a depleted KC early on , you have to be concerned about coaches and the braintrust.

Marquez Stevenson, He is the fastest wide receiver. It gives Josh a deep threat that can outrun defensive backs and is good when at college of running after the catch because right now no wide receiver currently playing scares teams going deep.   Plus, in the one preseason game that they played him at wide out he was impressive with his hands and catching the ball with defenders right out around him.  I think Mcdermott made a mistake when he said he did not trust his returners to catch the ball in that wind against the Patriots.

I like his elusiveness, but ball security must be drummed into his head. One fumble in a big spot could decide a game and our season.

  8. As constructed this team cannot run the ball effectively if conditions make throwing risky and difficult. Our strength is 5 wide and getting our talented receivers in space on a fast track. Conversely, we don't take away the run when good competition want to play the screen, short passing game sprinkled in to a top rush attack. We need a dome if this mangmt team doesn't fix the O-line and add a dynamic runner to Josh's arsenal.

no he sucks. JFC this play highlights it. you can talk about what position he plays and scheme and players around him. blah blah blah. im talking about a football player 1 on 1 with an aging out of the league QB completely whiffffffingg

Your example proves nothing, just as a highlight reel of him running down backs and TEs sideline to sideline proves nothing. Blaming him for tackles missed by us over the 6 losses, even games he didn’t play in,is the mentality of fans that pile on players they don't like. Look at our overall run defense. Why single out one guy. What's the problem with blah, blah, and blah.

Most are gnashing their teeth over the final play because that's the image stuck in their heads. That's not on him, there's not a LB in the league that could cover a WR who runs a 4.25 40. My ire is with the whiffed tackle on 3rd and 1, but I'll admit he's not as bad as the fans are making him out to be this week.

The formula for beating Brady is pressure up the middle. The Giants used it and we got 0 pressure all day long until Milano sacked him to set up the last drive that should have won us the game if integrity in officiating existed. Edmunds is an easy target  for frustrated fans, who won't admit with the investment in the D-line our front four is pedestrian.

forget wherher or not to resign him, if he is not benched for Kelin when he is available mcD is a gutless wonder.

Klein looks better when playing.  Milano looks better.  The fact that Bean is a terrible drafter with AJ and Basham and resigned vet players who are subpar does not mean Edmunds is therefore not also a giant bust.

excuses are what a lot of people make for Edmunds.  Bean needs to go also.  Thanks for drafting Allen.  But making the playoffs should be expected, this team can’t beat a good team unless that team has an off day and its because we lack impact players.

Your just looking to assign blame for a defense that hasn't been good against top competition all year. We gave up big yardage rushing against Tennessee, Indy(without Edmunds),NE and Tampa, losing all four. We need Edmunds to play better, but if our front doesn't even get near the QB and we keep giving up long touchdown runs, don't expect one guy to save the day. We can't protect our QB and can't run the ball. There's a lot of blame to go around.

  12. Anyone consider before destroying Edmunds that he maybe playing in the wrong scheme or not being coached well enough to perform in our current defense. While everyone admits Star, Epenesa, Hughes and Rousseau  have been either underachieving or unavailable, that leaves incredible pressure and responsibility on Edmunds. If you believe a defense functions as a cohesive unit to be successful, how can we dump all of the blame on the inefficient defense on Edmunds. No pressure from front four, no tackles for losses by front four and safeties and dbs out of position on long runs. Edmunds was out of position and reacted slowly on plays in the 1st half, no question, but exonerating the DC and the rest of our defense is silly. You get speed, tackling with physicality and length with Edmunds. It behooves these defensive coaches to put him in the best scheme and gameplan to succeed.

  13. That's the reason to change offensive philosophy in the red zone. Dabol and Josh are connected  but we can't fritter away seasons having Josh's versatility and incredible talents wasted with predictable ,low percentage plays. Devoid of a run blocking line and dependable short yardage back, how hard are we to defend in a compressed area.  Coordinator changes and better suited personnel for red zone scoring should be a priority in the offseason.

    Thank god for Josh Allen.

what a 2nd half performance after getting destroyed in the 1st half due to a paraplegic offensive line and dim witted OC.  How bad was Spencer Brown in the first half?  Wow.

Allen has to play against his own OL, the opposing D AND the refs.  He’s a one man gang and I can’t express enough how happy I am that he’s ours

    Righteous sentiments. Amen

Overall, I’m a little disappointed with what we’ve seen from Ed Oliver.   Last year, some had theorized that his lack of production was the result of not having a true 1TDT to take on blockers.   Well Star is back and is having his best season with the Bills, yet Oliver still hasn’t made much more of an impact.

He hasn’t been bad necessarily and can make an occasional splash play.  But he also seems to be a non-factor for long stretches of game and has provided little in terms of a pass rush.  It seems to me that he doesn’t win his matchup enough.  The word on Oliver is that you can take him out of a play completely with a double team.

At this point, if I’m Brandon Beane, I definitely wouldn’t  pick up his option this off-season, unless Ed takes his game to another level this year.   I feel that you can match Oliver’s production with a younger player or a veteran that will sign for a much cheaper deal than what it would take to keep Oliver in town.

Would you pick up Oliver’s option after this season?

Star is back? Star played in 5 games. Star is recovering from Covid. Star suited up for NE and stunk up the field. His best season, I don’t think so. Oliver's been our best lineman.

    1. Most important —- Allen is the real thing and he almost willed the team to victory on his arm and legs

    2. First Half — not one RB run the entire first half and Allen was getting killed by the rush. Very lucky they were not down 31-3 at half.

    3.  Allen was even impressive after getting hurt. Why I PERSONALLY hate QB draw plays open them up to more injuries. You have RB for a reason at least call on them 9-10 times!

    4. Impressive second half by the Bills D holding the Bucs to 3 points.. (shocked no real PA Passes by Bucs.. but hey still impressive!)

    5.  The 4th quarter was all Bills and I thought they would get that TD at the end to win it.. have to wonder if Allen hadn’t been hurt they score there.

    6. facing Brady you have to expect get every last flag against you.. and you pretty much did.

last does anyone know the extent of Allen injury? He didn’t seem to have that burst that he had before he got hurt.

All and all you should be proud of the fight in your Bills they never gave up.

That was a solid take. Believe this, that game, was exhibit one. for the case of Josh Allen being the toughest and most talented QB in football for the next decade. He overcame a clueless game plan, extreme hometown officiating and unmerciful punishment and injuries at the hands of a ferocious front seven that could pin their ears back knowing we weren't ever running the ball, to lead us to a win from 21 down if the game was refereed correctly.
