One conversation I listened to in recent years, was between a veteran scout discussing a QB draft class in with a younger scout.(I forgot which year it was) The younger scout insisted that he felt that each of his top 3 rated Qb's would enjoy great success in the NFL. H ewas hyped about all 3 and couldn't imagine any of then failing. The veteran scout said, yeah I might pound the table for my top 3 rated Qb's every year, but results show usually only one out of those 3 will meet expectaton. It's an inexact science, no matter who is at the wheel of the draft. The TOP qb names now are : Darnold Rosen Allen Mayfield Jackson Rudolph But, some of the QB'S drafted below these top 6 will outperform them, and it could be safe to say that there is a strong possibility that a minimum 3 of the 6 will not meet expectations. And in reality... it will not be the three you are thinking of right now.

I am not a fan of all of this revisionist history when it comes to Bill Polian They usually don't take into consideration the entirety of what "Franchise" or "Team Building" encompasses. The draft is one part. But look up any GM and you will see huge misses and a success rate that is probably lower than you expected. Ralph falling into hiring Bill Polian was the luckiest and most fortunate thing that happened in Bills history. It was the single act MOST responsible for our proceeding glory years. Polian had a vision of success an untiring work effort and a will to demand excellence that permeated the entire oranization. He demanded that everyone be championship caliber, off the field from the secretaries, to the janitors to ticket office window to NFL side-players , coaches, scouts, etc. He was successfull in ALL aspects of team building and that is WHY he is so admired in the NFL For his efforts building the Bills, Panthers, and Colts Bill Polian was voted Executive of the year 5 times! Yes. 5 times! He has said a few things lately that I have shaken my head at, but I will always tip my hat to Bill Polian and thank him for putting together a team that had one of the best runs in NFL history. P.S. Not every executive is in the Hall of Fame, the ones that are ? pretty, pretty, pretty, good.

Somewhere Doug Whaley just started feeling a little bit "aroused" at the idea. Ebron worth a third round pick? No, and never!

IMHO Lamar Jackson, when all said and done will be a top 12 pick. There is no way the most dynamic player in the draft last's until the 20's. I too believe that Lamar Jackson will be a starter in Daboll's offense. Sooner rather than later. I predict eventual greatness. Whether one likes Cam Newton or not, he has been successfull because he, more times than not ,has been the best athlete on the field. McDermott and Beane saw this up close and what it can mean to a franchise. To top it off I like this kid, I think he is incredibly humble, considering all he has accomplished and his elite skills, he carries himself with grace.

I have nothing against Chris Ivory, he has run hard in the past. I am concerned about the drop in his yard per carry the last two years, that's never a good sign for RB'S around the age of 30. If one wanted to picky I'd say I would have skipped the " Yeah we know his name Chris Ivory" and just signed 2 to 3 rookie free agent RB'S and let them "battle it out" My guess is one of them would be better than the current incarnation of Chris Ivory at almost no cost.

He is considered a first round pick across the board. In this day and age of the salary cap I like using number 1's on positions that are extremely hard to obtain in free agency.(without blowing up your cap) Whatever team actually hits on a QB in the first round (some of them will bust, and no one knows which one), will get 5 or 6 years of low salary at an incredibly expensive position. This will allow that team to strenghten their team in so many ways) I would take Ridley ( a true number one wr) over Evans in the first round for this reason. True number one WR'S are difficult to obtain in free agency, 5 or 6 years of a number one on his rookie contract offers great value. Smith is a sideline to sideline LB, those will be available later in the draft. Generally LB's that get drafted higher and are valued to a greater degree in free agency are pass rushing, not coverage linebackers.

Taking Lamar Jackson is a no brainer. He is an electrifying playmaker. With the other first, as much as I do like the pick of Evans- Jeremiah still has Ridley on the board, it would be hard not to snap him up. Ridley has legitimate number 1 WR abilty and to lock up your number 1 WR at a rookie contract rate for at least 5 years is sweet.
