    We said this last year.

They’ll boat race bad teams again.

Remains to be seen if their defense has enough to stop elite QB’s and if Tua can man up against good teams when the weather turns cold.

They were good last year and almost beat us out. That is with Tua and we have Josh. What does that tell you if Tua is so bad. They take another step and they have passed us. Funny how people love to say they are all hype when we are the team underperforming with a top QB.

We've had opportunities to add solid veteran outside WR talent this offseason but we've punted on it. Hopefully one of our upside bets pays off and Coleman hits the ground running.

Essentially punted on the draft - trade back and get Coleman.

Now punting on the vets - we get Claypool.

Obviously Beane and Sean know MUCH more than you or myself.   He could be a changed man

If he is, this could be really really good

Yeah because they have never picked up random guys that did not make the roster or retired before even playing for the Bills...or at halftime.

Of the four teams who made it to the conference championship game last year, three of them had fairly weak receiver rooms. The fourth is the 49ers, who were loaded with weapons, but also had the most limited of the QBs.

If anything, the Bills are current with NFL trends and fans are behind in their thinking.

    Except:

KC is trying and investing in the WR room. Both in terms of drafts - 1st this year and 2nd in that past two drafts, as well as free agent $.

BAL has Bateman and Flowers who are recent 1st round picks. They paid $ for OBJ. They have decent WR room and again have invested in it.

DET has St. Brown and Williams (recent 1st round pick) and some decent role guys. Again not a weak room and have invested heavily.

BUF in comparison has shelled out middling free agent $ and until a 2nd rounder this year, low level draft picks.

  4. Transition was referring to transition in leadership. Guys like Diggs, White, Hyde, Poyer, Morse were some of the vet leaders of this team and are now gone. In a way you can look at this is a challenge to Allen to step up as a leader. Maybe the draft of rookies and saying they were looking for leadership qualities was a shot at recent draft picks like Cook, Groot, Oliver, etc that they need to be leaders. I don't see transition as referring to talent because outside of Diggs the talent was replaceable.

  5. I still think Dorsey was a scapegoat and because we won more games under Brady it is viewed as "Brady is better". But reality was we won games because the D played a lot better and we turned the ball over less. The O stats were not that different. The passing O definitely was worse with Brady, while rushing was better. But if you dig deeper much of the rushing improvement came via Allen's legs. Which because they were in much more desperation mode, I think they took the chains off Allen and let him run while during Dorsey's time in the early season they told Allen not to run. So since Brady was allowed to lean heavy on Allen it skews things.

I am hopeful with an offseason Brady can put it together. But I dont think we can go a full 17 plus playoffs with the style he utilized with Allen as a bulldozer. He needs to get the passing game going much more than he was able to last year.

    Yeah, no.

McBeane have been extended. We just started a rebuild. We’re coming off a sustained track record of success by any measure that isn’t just SB or bust. Some of you guys aren’t living in reality.

Also, why does it feel like so many here just became fans in 2018? Do you guys not remember what two decades of incompetence actually looks like??

So if your team used to be mediocre you should accept being really good but falling short? This team has been very close and with Allen can remain very close. The margin of error has been really small - like better coaching in the 13 second game, having a #2 WR, etc. If the Bills made a few different choices the team could have possibly one of a super bowl. McBeane has brought them close, but that does not mean you cant question if they can get them over the top.

  8. Well they inherited a disaster and had to rebuild an aging and overpaid roster that was in salary cap hell and then created in just a few years what many are calling an aging, overpaid roster that is in salary cap hell. All the while blew a few playoff games and have only been to the AFC champ game once with Allen at QB. Remember all these past years when the Bills did not sign available free agents because we dont want to be like the Rams etc and be in salary cap hell? How did that work out? Instead we created a bad cap situation with a bunch of overpaid aging players.

The age of these WRs is so much more relevant then people think.

Pearsall turned 23.  In September of 2023.  He’s going to be 24.

Legette is going to be 24 in January.

In the last 5-10 years - Smith in Philly only one of note I can find at WR - drafted at 22 or older during their senior season - how many become a star in the NFL?

Someone please find me one other then Smith that I missed.  Happy to be wrong.

The rule of thumb with age is the younger the breakout season age - that’s a greater predictor of NFL success.

Coleman had 800 yards and 60 catches at 19 years old at Michigan State.

If Coleman played at FSU this year at age 21 you can bet he’d be a top 10 draft pick in 2025.

And obviously where they end up matters.

Not with a 4.6 40.  That is just never gonna happen.

  10. The answer is essentially is there a guy your d needs to focus on, double or triple cover, game plan around etc. or can you just go plain vanilla. If you’re playing kc you plan around Kelce. That helps other guys. You can’t stop them all. Right now there is no one on on the bills other team needs to say oh no we better stop that that guy. Diggs demanded that kind of attention.

We were up and coming in 2019. We just released a ton an older players this offseason. Have you been sleeping through the offseason? We also have a ridiculous amount of dead cap space this year.

Older players that can be replaced. We are fine at the positions that matter and just needed a Wr to still be a Super Bowl favorite. Let’s not sell this like Allen is gone or our LT etc. Many of the guys that left this year excluding Diggs were almost not brought back last year. We let aging vets walk not young guys we could not resign.

I will agree to a point that Diggs’ exit probably accelerated how bad the lack of succession plan was. But the Bills have sucked at their succession plans for the 2020 stars since.. well… 2020.

Beane drafts a decent WR last year or two years ago and we are feeling much more comfortable with Coleman/Samuel/Shakir filling out the rest of the room.

That is why they needed a good wr in any of the last few drafts. Diggs is either a cancer or was in the decline. But we don’t need a plan. Makes no sense. That is the issue. Not Diggs.
