My biggest concern about Coleman is his 57% catch percentage. Not that worried about the long speed, as his first 10 yards is quicker than the likes of Jefferson and Chase...

But I want a wr that can catch the ball! That's why I'm kind of thinking Beane has Franklin in his sights... I think Franklin can add upper body strength and weight and get to 190lbs...

I've also been higher on AD Mitchell than you have all along, but have some recent concerns about his attitude and the way he doesn't always take care of the diabetes. (Of course that could be a smoke screen).

Coleman has some of the best hands in the class IMO (not THE best, but he's up there) and certainly much better hands than Franklin. The separation is the big concern with Coleman. As I said, very young and inexperienced; you have to hope you can teach him how to generate separation much more consistently than he did in college. He's still figuring things out but could help us immediately in terms of giving you someone to throw to where he's "open when he's covered".

Yeah. I read Franklin, I responded Franklin, But my brain short circuited and kept saying Coleman

As someone that has Coleman in the conversation with Franklin for the #5 WR in the draft IMO, Coleman has a lot of red flags. Whoever takes him is gambling on him being a Josh Allen-esq outlier. I am bullish though. Very young, very inexperienced (split time between football and basketball up until the past two years), has the size, elusiveness, and hand-eye coordination that can't be taught and seemingly has the motor to make the most of his gifts.

I think a more pointed question would be...

1.) Would you rather have Xavier Legette, Xavier Worthy, or Ricky Pearsall in the first round      OR

2.) Would you rather add a 3rd round pick, and have a choice between Troy Franklin, Adonai Mitchell, or Ladd McConkey in the 2nd round

My personal order of those guys pre-draft was:

    1. Franklin
    2. McConkey
    3. Pearsall
    4. Mitchell
    5. Legette
    6. Worthy

With a significant gap from Pearsall to Mitchell and an even more significant gap from Mitchell to Legette/Worthy.

I still think it’s Ayiuk that gets dealt. The Pearsall pick is more duplication when it comes to Ayiuk. He also has the easier contract to move. I wonder if you could get Ayiuk for 60 and 128 or something like that? If that’s the case, take Dejean (or Newton here), trade for Ayiuk & then take Baker at 95. That would be 🔥

I'd be surprised if it doesn't cost at least #33 for Aiyuk but we'll see. He'd be the most exciting of those three vets for sure.

Any reason not to take Adonai Mitchell? He's 6'4.

    He's 6'2".

But yes, he was the consensus #5 WR in the class. If we take him at #33, many in the media will immediately look at Beane as a genius for maneuvering to acquire better picks while still getting a guy that many of the media members believes can be a special player.

Personally, I'm not as high on him and there's a handful of WRs available now that I'd take ahead of him, but I do have a 2nd round grade on him.

  6. Still remaining from my big board at the beginning of the night for options I'd like:

    1. Insert OLine Here (probably just JPJ at this point)
    2. Cooper DeJean
    3. Jer'Zhan Newton
    4. Kool Aid McKinstry
    5. Troy Franklin
    6. Keon Coleman

For those focused on WRs, my personal board:

    1. MHJ
    2. Nabers
    3. Odunze
    4. Thomas
    5. Keon Coleman
    6. Troy Franklin
    7. Jacob Cowing
    8. Ladd McConkey
    9. Javon Baker
    10. Ricky Pearsall
    11. Ja'Lynn Polk
    12. Adonai Mitchell
    13. Brenden Rice
    14. Roman Wilson
    15. Jermaine Burton
    16. Malachi Corley
    17. Xavier Legette
    18. Xavier Worthy
    19. Isaiah Williams
    20. Jamari Thrash
    21. Anthony Gould
    22. Devontez Walker
    23. Jalen McMillan

The top 15 all had 2nd round or better grades, so long story short, plenty of options still available tomorrow. Among those top 15, I don't think Cowing and Wilson make much sense for us, though Wilson in particular has the type of DNA I think Beane would love.

As much as I adore Deebo, he doesn't make much sense for us. If we go the veteran route and Aiyuk is off the table, Higgins or Sutton make more sense than Deebo IMO. Probably wouldn't trade what Cinci wants for Higgins though. I think the cost for Sutton is probably a good match for what we have now and then I'd like to add a rookie WR tomorrow.

  8. Options at #33 for those that are purely focused on WR:

    • Adonai Mitchell (majority believes he's the #4 or #5 WR in the draft even if I personally do not)
    • My personal #5 through #9 WRs (granted one of them is Cowing who is simply not a fit for the role we need to fill)
    • Brandon Aiyuk? #33 is roughly what the projected cost would be to acquire him and SF did just draft a WR at 31.

We made some significant moves up the board while still having a guy available that most people preferred over Worthy/Legette anyways and several options that I personally prefer and that's just at WR.

Who says that? You? He’s exactly what we need. YAC and playmaking ability. We threw screens to Diggs. This team wants his speed.

We already have Samuel, Shakir, and even Kincaid for the screens IMO. Worthy would give us a deep threat that we're currently lacking for sure. Not a fan of him as a prospect personally but in a perfect world, he'll be very dangerous down the field.

I read somewhere yesterday that the medical issue with Thomas Jr is believed to eventually require surgery, and the hope is that he could make it through the 2024 season before getting it next offseason.

Sounds an awful lot like when Shaq Lawson was flagged for a shoulder issue pre-draft. We of course drafted him anyway, then he misses his entire rookie season recovering from shoulder surgery that we knew he'd need.

Heard the same about Nabers as well
