  1. I was on board the TT wagon but he lost me early this year. Yet I'm STILL of the opinion the Bills brass should do their hardest to replace him BUT  you do NOT  can him until you find that replacement! And for all his faults he's still better than Bortles and look what that dude did today!

  2. Am I the only puzzled with how unimaginative and all some OC are, either as planners or at play calling? I mean, they did reach that level in the NFL!

Roman strength is that he's a guru at run designs.

He's not great at coordinating a passing attack.  And I've heard there are issues with his interpersonal and leadership skills.

Lynn did better with Roman's plays than Roman because he was (1) a better playcaller and (2) a better leader.

Lynn was much better at play calling yet Roman had made most of the designs. That was a damn good combo!

  3. In some games here and there the schemes were pretty good. In others, really vanilla. And as mentioned, didn't seem to always fit the players, which what matters most IMO.

And the reason I don't think he's good is what happened the last game, which happened quite often this year. In the first half the Bills offense really moved the ball well, the designs played to the strength of the team and on and on. In the 2nd half, the Jags seem to guess every play. Sure THEY made halftime adjustments, but that's a given! As an OC you have to make some too! Not having the same patterns for the whole game come week 18!

  4. It'll be very hard. A lot depends on the draft picks and trades/signings, on how Father Time affects some of the core group, etc. A LOT of unknowns going into year. Nobody knows with any certainty.

Last year the Bills were a few plays from being playoff bound with Rex Ryan! Some made field goals and tackles, coach challenges, and boom. An really, many years of that drought could have been playoff years if not for a few plays. The difference between winning and losing is often so thin that I do laugh at the "expert predictions".  Sure none expect the Browns to be 12-4 next year or the Patriots to go 3-13. But otherwise yes 6-10 or 10-6 can be had by a few select plays.

I had posted this paragraph before, and I reposted it, as NFL fans in general need a slap in the face sometimes. Only 4 of last year's 12 playoff teams rejoined the dance this year. A lot of teams can go from 6-10 to 10-6, or 15-1 to 6-10... I'm soooooooo glad the drought is over but now prepare for the "longest time without a playoff win" media rambling.

Taylor and Dennison being released would be the biggest upgrades for the offense without even adding a player.

    You can always do worse!

Believe me, I want them gone too. But that is because the Bills found better people at their position. So far Tyrod has beat all other QBs on the roster in the last 3 years. Do I think it's about damn time they found a better QB? Hell yes. But I don't want him to be canned if there is no one to replace him yet!

As for Dennison, nope. I want him gone, period LOL

No hate, just apropos that the season ended on a Peterman int.....

Come on. He HAD to try something in these circumstances. In a way, I'm glad he was willing to risk an INT to try win the game. Of course the result was bad, and season ending, but Tyrod had overthrown so many opened receivers today (and all year) to avoid an INT on his record that I'm glad NP tried.

  7. He's a classy guy, and I was one of his stout supporters... until this year. Now I'm an addition to the "he's a great backup QB" wagon. But it'd still keep him unless they sign someone better, simple as that! They should, and I hope they do, but you don't just can a player at any position unless you can replace him.

  8. Yes. good points. That pass play on 1st and goal at the 1, AND the two pass plays at the end of the 1st half were really a case of outsmarting yourself. Damn. It cost the game. Boomer Esiason, while clearly indicating Taylor decided the pass at the goal line, clearly blamed the coaches for allowing TT to have the run/pass option in the first place. Also, was it just me that screamed at the Bills to get a play off quickly before the challenge flag could be thrown by Marrone.. to no avail? McD is a first year coach, and he has made a lot of these time managament errors all year. Which is not surprising for a rookie, but it is from a "process" cerebral coach.

That and many missed throws by Tyrod. He's so cautious he prefers to overthrow players instead of risking the INT. Am I hallucinating or in his first year for the Bills he had a great deep ball and wasn't afraid to throw it? And to add insult to injury Bortles clearly outplayed Tyrod in the run game.

Some excellent play designs throughout the game.  Better execution and the game isn't even close.

I thought the same too. For all the deserved criticism against Dennison, the players missed some well designed gems

No QB should ever miss that throw, big reason why TT needs to go.

ALL, and I do mean ALL QBs miss throws. But yeah, I was really pissed at one too

  10. Well I hope first of all they get far, all the way if possible :) Otherwise, I hope it is indeed "phase 1". I don't want to be a party pooper but there will be again a LOT of roster changes next year, some stars getting older, draft picks could be great, average or busts, etc. Lots of unknowns. We could remain a 6-10 to 10-6 team for years. We just don't know. The thing is to enjoy the moment!

Geez. I hadn’t thought about all this. Just as easily could have been 6-10. Lol.

My first thought was he knows the refs screwed him and he was joking...

That's how I saw it too. It seems these close calls have so much gone against the Bills that he and other players - and myself and surely other fans - just lost it and went crazy for a minute. Great, real reaction. I loved it actually. Except for the part he seemed winded and had to get back on the field LOL
