They know we can’t beat CBs one on one, so theres no need for an extra defensive back.

Well, that's not true if the schemes help. And imagine, at times, not all the time, WRs running short while a TE or RB runs deep when Josh can see it's man to man coverage. Picth runs to the outside. And yes, a few misdirections and play action!

By far my biggest complaint with Brady is his refusal this year to open up the game play-action heavy. This naturally softens the run defense. His plan in Seattle last season is the blueprint, but we refuse to try it this season. Hell the first play of the game was shotgun and all spread, screaming pass. Why not play-action instead of giving your intent away with formation. The Dolphins were ripe to roll over and our poor 1st drive and their subsequent 95-yard drive killed that idea.

Oh I agree. Yet, to be fair, on 8 opening drives before that, the Bills had scored 6 TDs, 1 FG, and no punt as the other one ended in a fumble. Perfection is not of this world. And the Bills should still have dominated if the first drive was stopped. It's a headscratcher of a game.

They think behind closed doors the Bills are purposely playing the long game with Allen as McBeane often mentions the importance of keeping Josh healthy.
They imply that they are going through the season, play him conservative, stay healthy

If it's true, it'd be dumb as h ell to do this from play 1. Especially with teams on the verge of inner collapse, you go all out from the get go, and tone it down afterwards if you have the lead. And to be fair, the Bills had the best opening drives stats in all  the NFL before last Sunday.

It's just the overall offense seems so off. Lack of creativity. Predictable. The last two opponents showed what can be done scheme wise on offense. The BILLS showed what can done in the game against KC. Use some of what they did!

Johnson was a great option for passes out of the backfield. Why they stopped using him just doesnt make sense to me.

TY is almost at WR level. They have used him for checkdowns. What about some mid & deep routes for him once in a while? Same for Cook BTW.

Yeah, gonna be fun when he gets fired for being horrible at his job. Hopefully, Bills fans remember to troll him hard when it happens.

He knows he's going down, so might as well go down in style ha ha. He will be made fun anyways. And I doubt he had planned this. He was passing bye so made the most of it.

Some fans can dish it out but can't take it back...

Trolling the fans is such a cowardly thing to do.

What? It's fair game. With what all these guys hear from the fans ha ha.

That loss REALLY depressed me. For the first times in years, I feel the SB dream is over. Or, you know, it's dwindled down to only a very very slim chance, while just last week the Bills were still legit Superbowl favorites.

At least, McDaniel's trolling - and his answer when asked if it was him is good too ha ha - makes it more fun.

I'd use Knox, Hawes and Coleman (or Davis) as the TEs.  I think defenses would have a hard time defending

Hum. Maybe Coleman could thrive in that. I just have been POed at his lack of effort. Twice last Sunday he could easily have got a PI going the Bills way had he come back to the ball and fought for it. He didn't. Good no calls even if the Fins never looked back and there was contact

Anyway, I have been vocal about using Anderson AND Hawes. I also want the frequent deep routes by one of the RBs and TEs. Ty Johnson, Cook, Kincaid/Knox, even Gilliam. They are hard to cover by LBs and non DBs. Stretch the field however way you want! It doesn't only have to be a WR.

Kincaid probably missing time is going to make it even easier for opposing Ds.

I've said it before, and I'll say again: use the TEs and RBs to run deeper routes. They are a mismatch for those covering them. Our WRs are bad, we all know it. But they won't put a DB with Ty Johnson, Cook or Kincaid. Just do it! The Bills  need to stretch the field in whatever ways that works. If they do it, WRs will get more open, yes, they will, and the running game can break some big ones. They actually did this against KC.

Dawkins got cooked on a few plays yesterday that were pretty ugly. Miami doesn't have a good pass rush to begin with, were near the bottom of the league in sacks, and were playing without Chop Robinson and just traded Jaelan Phillips.

It's like as if nothing yesterday made any logical sense!

Same with the Bills run offense. The Fish had ben awful in run D. They stopped Cook bette than anyne so far.

    WT H yesterday?

There's been quite a few heart breaking losses in the JA17 era. Yesterday was more like a real depressing one. We've seen the Bills go from SB favorites to barely being playoff caliber.

It would be one thing if we were using the running game to set up the pass.

But we aren't even doing that, lol. We use the run game and it either works or it doesn't. And then we pass and hope for the best...

Sad but true. Josh had killer stats with playaction in his first years, and they had no running game back then! They have now and don't max it out.

And part of it was not a single receiver could get open today. I see no fix to that with what we have.

Did Coleman even TRY? Lack of effort will never be acceptable.

I love me some JA17 but on one a throw away, Samuel was sitting on the sideline all alone. That was a first down. You can at least trust these guys to catch the ball if they are open. Maybe not to get open, but come on. Something is real off with the Bills O.

The players didn't play well; we lost the turnover battle.

    Conclusion: fire the coaching staff.

You are too rational for the board right now. You need to give it a few days.

The play calls on offense was baaaad. No way around it. Contrast the playcalling with what.. th e Dolphins did. It's just obvious. Misdirections, playactions, mix of long and short passes.

Yet, even if the Bills had used vanilla plays, the run O should have worked! The Dolphins D have been awful. And their secondary were made of backups! What happened? Crazy

  11. I was sick of you guys moaning about Brady, like you have for very OC that has been in for the Bills. But this season, Brady has disappointed me bad, and none more so than today. The contrast with Miami was too much. Look at all the misdirection, playaction the Fins used. Why can't the Bills do that?

Still, OC aside, how could the Bills not run well against one of the worst run D in the league, AND with their secondary totally banged up? It make no sense.

I know WR will get plenty of chatter but watching Milano/Bernard makes me think a LB has to be on the off season radar

Milano WAS a superstar. Bernard started like a potential one. What happened? I had the same thought today. They don't do nothing. At all. I don't get it. DL are good enough to free them up. Is it schemes or have they completely lost it?

    The stages of Oliver/Hoecht grief:

    1. Denial

    2. Anger

    3. BARGAINING

    4. Depression

    5. Acceptance

I guess I went from 1 straight to 4.. His loss depressed me as I feel it hurts the chance to win the SB. Just as with the Von Miller signing, a great plan derailed by a huge injury. Of course the Bills can win without him, but he made a huge positive difference. He was even calling plays in his 2nd game! So hey, if the depth guys can make a difference, I'm all ready for step 5 ha ha.

For me, there are 2 clear flaws and it has been exposed multiple times this year (in wins and losses). The guys on the outside can’t get open and they can’t stop the run.

Hoecht was to help big time to stop the run. He was a total beast in the 7 quarters he played. He and Oliver are now gone. Just like when Von Miller was brought in to close games. It was all intelligent plans by Beane and the Bills brass, but injuries derailed it.

He was great in that game. Wish the coaching staff had had the confidence in him to let him ice it instead of going über-conservative.

I don't mind using running plays. But why just run it down the middle 3 times when the Chiefs were stacking the box just for that? ALSO use sweeps, Cook in the flat, or  a JA17 run.

This. I was checking if people had added Gilliam. Plus Hoecht with a "quick recovery" ball. Damn, he made such a difference in the 7 quarters he played. He was key to switch the D to Superbowl status. What a ***** loss.

Agree. But the Chiefs were one of the hottest teams in the NFL.  Beating them by a TD was an accomplishment.

Last year, the Chiefs were sooooo lucky to remain undefeated for so long. This year, they are one of the best ever 5-4 team  They might even miss the playoffs! And yeah, I'd love that ha ha. Both teams looked Superbowl caliber today.

Hate to see any player injured. Wish him a smooth recovery. But on the field, I really believe this is addition by subtraction. Maybe this gets Beane off his hands to go after Simmons or another vet.

Maybe, or maybe fans are just short memory ingrates. Rapp was quite good last year. If he has played with a knee issue this year, no wonder he was not performing well. Remember how a lot on this board were crapping on Spencer Brown when he played with a back injury. Yet the Bills brass gave him a huge new contract and he has been a star since.

Anyway, even if Rapp is not that good, losing him for the season is not good news, if for depth alone. Other players can get injured!

  19. For point #10, I find it weird the Bills D have difficulty with good QB runners since least year... as they practice against Josh and Trubinski! In the past, the Bills D never even allowed Lamar to run against them - and well, healthy Milano was the main reason. Obviously, the D played great yesterday and Dalton ain't running around. We'll see next week!

I'm sorry, but I just can't get behind this.  Once the game starts, I feel like those types of things go out of your head.  Josh has always said the game starts for him the moment he is hit

Yesterday, it could have been Losman back there. I agree that it would feel boring for Josh if all games were like this, but come on, it won't always be this way. Perfect to maintain Josh in peak health. Josh didn't do anything special.. because he didn't have to! Hard to say he is off from yesterday...

I’m not going to toot my horn a ton but I was on Hoecht before he signed here and was one of the few people on this board who loved his signing while everyone else was like who the hell is this guy and he’s not worth it etc.

I was one that liked him. Not because I knew who he was before the Bills signing, but watching videos of him since. I barely watch preseason but watched HIS plays this preseason and liked it. Cover1 did a good video on him back then. He looks like the real deal and he was yesterday.

I tried to tell people this was going to be a work on progress thru much of the season exactly for this reason. All we need is for them to peak during the right time. We don't need for them to be amazing all year long

Playoffs are NOT a given. Even winning the division is not. Sure, the ideal is to peak come postseason, the other 31 teams are not going to lay down and pave the way!

Anyway, Hoecht was fun to watch. On the O side, Hawe still blocks so well, and shoutout to Gilliam. I thought he was not useful besides special teams, but this year, when he is in there with #85, they and the OLine run block so well.
