  1. Can"t wait to see what he's got. But his 27 TD / 7 Int college stat shows that he protects the ball. Though very few QBs do that as well as Tyrod so we all have to expect a lot more picks, especially from a rookie! But I didn't realize before that vid that he played with Jones. That will help a lot! In that respect, Tyrod got a raw deal as too often he played with new receivers. A  few missed passes this year have been from out-of-sync between him and the new receivers. Imagine for a guy that has been 2nd QB - he barely had time to get a feel for most of his guys so that will account for some INTs right there.

But I admit from his podium interview Peterman seems to have the "it" factor you look for in a QB. We'll see. The change had to be made IMO. Two bad games in a row and an overall subpar year made it almost necessary. The risk is still big for THIS year as if NP ain't good enough, playoffs are again a thing deferred. But for 2018 and beyond, they had to know if Peterman can play as Tyrod wouldn't  have been retained with his current contract anyway.

In many ways TT got a raw deal with the WR situation, the Dennison offense that doesn't seem fitting for him, and on and on. But he got his chance to be a starter for 2.5 years, got great money to live out 20 lifetimes, so I won't be crying too hard even though I wished he had succeeded big time. He was exciting at times way more than anyone since Flutie. I loved how he made people miss their tackles. But yep, time for a change. Hell if he's back later because NP stinks or is injured, and plays with a new fire and less conservative, who knows what can happen!

  2. Super video.

As for the "national experts" and their constant rambling on draft rankings. Let's take the two best QBs in the league: Aaron Rodgers: 24th overall pick. Ann what about a certain Tom Brady who was selected with pick #199, a compensatory pick, in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft? And how many first rounders and even first picks QB went bust? And in all positions for that matter, there have been 1st-2nd round busts and undrafted players that had awesome careers. So stupid this emphasis on draft placement. What matters is how Peterman performs in the NFL! Just like how the Bills performed against the Chargers in the 90s don't matter to what will happen this Sunday.

  3. Yes we all saw it for a long while, and of course it was so much on display in the last 2 games, where TT wouldn't even risk an INT to get some points when BEHIND on the score. But he also had awesome improvising strength that does the opposite and make some OC look good. He's a unique mix of glaring weaknesses and very efficient strong points.

But you can't be a starting QB for 2.5 years in the NFL, have been in the league for almost 7 years, and still see little of the field, almost never throw with anticipation, never audible... WTH! I was a big supporter but he barely improved, and even regressed in some areas. Dennison and Catillo are to blame too though! More than him. But since he was gone anyway with the way his contract his made, the time to test Peterman is now.

And for all that has been said of Tyrod's strength and shortfalls, he might still be better than NP! Hopefully not as it'd mean this season is over. We'll find out Sunday. One thing is sure, NP has more ceiling, more upside.

Well its an accurate statement and I am sure any NFL coach will affirm the same.  And its also accurate to say that its by far the weakest part of TT's game.

I agree, and most people do. It's just not wise for HIM to say it publicly in his first conference as a starter, without having proven anything yet. Vets won't like any rookie doing that

I am all for this, and bench Tolbert while we at it. Activate Cadet and get DiMarco more touches.

    BOOM

Lorax is awesome on special teams, and indeed could help the pass rush. Milano outplayed Humber big time.

  6. I agree with joesixpack to let the coaches do  their thing and wait it out... except the OC and OL coach. The Greg Roman style offense scored points and the run game was among or THE best. Yet they changed all that, we all see the un-originality, the easy to predict patterns, the fact Tyrod couldn't be... Tyrod, the sudden OL stuggles. I'd replace Dennison for sure. At least Peterman is probably a much better fit, so we'll see. Hey, as most fans, I want them to succeed, not to fire anyone! But the burden is on them.

  7. I agree with the original post and called for that myself. As TT and NP seem so different, it would be a nightmare to defend them both in the same game, whether on different plays or together on the field. Ego is such a strong thing for the QB position, though, sadly, that regardless of Dennison, it's hard to do in reality. The Steelers used these kind of "gimmicks" because they had the personal to do so!!! Adapt your schemes to your players!! The one thing I dislike about this current situation, is hearing how Tyrod wasn't a good fit for a Dennison offense. WTH! Adapt to the players you have!

Don't want to prematurely end his time in Buffalo, but I am thankful to Tyrod for all he put into this team.  Class act all the way and helped stabilize the position.  I have been a defender, but even I cannot criticize this move.  TT seems chronically unable to get the ball out.  I was screaming in the NO game "throw an interception if you have to for chrissakes - just throw it!"

Exciting, positive, hard-working player.  Thankful for the thrills and the effort.

I agree with you 100%! First and foremost, as you state first, he might not be done in Buffalo just yet! It depends on how Peterman pans out! Just like I wished TT lit it up, I wish the same for Peterman but let's wait till he plays shall we?

Just like you I wished he would have gone for it and throw some contested balls to WR when behind on the scoreboard. I looooooooved his protecting the ball in close games or while ahead, and even the "haters" will soon realize how great he was at that, but when behind, WTH! It's like his TD-Int ratio stats mattered more than winning, and that's inexcusable. Throw it! So  he didn't throw INTs... yet he threw away his starter status.

He sure gave us some thrilling moments, more than any QB since Flutie,  but his lack of improving and conservatism did him in. But again, we might see him again if Peterman fails. So in essence, I wish the Bills made the right switch. With so much $$$ due to TT in 2018, he had to show without the shadow of a doubt he was THE man, and he didn't. So he might have be gone anyway. Much better for the team to see what NP has got!

The one thing I dislike, is reading "TT wasn't a good fit in a "Dennison offense". Grrrr. The coaches have to adapt to the players they have dammit!

  9. Taylor's inability to make the quick throw, the initial issue, is still the issue. Nathan Peterman is able to make these throws.

It sure is. The Jets destroyed that more than the Saints. But... Peterman has probably flaws that Tyrod doesn't have. And as he is more typical, it should not take long for opposing defenses to figure out. But he deserves a chance. In an ideal non-ego driven world, I'd play BOTH, heck sometimes even at the same time, as they'd be a nightmare to defend as they seem to have totally different styles. I know this though: if I was a wide receiver or even a tight end, I'd want the QB switch!

I did find it interesting that Peterman ran the no huddle very efficiently. He would complete a pass and get them right back up to the line within 15 seconds. It takes Tyrod 30 seconds to do that. I guess he really is bad. I've stuck up for him for a long time but I'm done with that today

Yeah I too have been on TT's side but that was too much. Lack of audibles is REALLY weird, we need to know why, and his "2 minute drills" are not awesome, though in THAT aspect he's improved for sure IMO. But he has regressed in accuracy and we see none of his previously beautiful deep throws.

We don't know what the Bills have in Peterman, and my gut tells me other teams would figure him out quick if the lack of arm strength reports are accurate. But 58 yards? To me the lack of the overrated 300 passing yard games didn't concern me at all, but 58 yards? Come on! I sure hope he's on a short leash and Peterman has his chance if Tyrod stinks up the place next time around. The wide receivers would be happy that's for sure. Tight ends too probably. Something has to change.

And I've said ever since the Bengals game this defense is a fraud and has only looked good because of the turnovers.

No true. The run defense was impressive, even in preseason, and the secondary added to it with INT at the right times. This is was boggles the mind: how come the run defense has gone downhill all of a sudden? From very good to super awful? And Dareus was injured and played little for most of the "good stretch" so that's not the main reason - though he would help clog the middle for sure and free up linebackers.

  12. When the game is close or the Bills are ahead, I'm so glad for a QB like TT who won't throw interceptions. It seems to me people forget how bad many INTs are for momentum, killing drives, leaving points of the board, etc. But when behind, he STILL refuses to throw to his wideouts and let'em fight for the ball. That is stupid. Like his INT stats matter more than winning. He only had one throw that could have been intercepted yesterday. Clay is the cause for the one INT, not Tyrod. But when behind by a lot, you HAVE to take some chances, it's like he never does. The wideouts must be sick of running all day for nothing.

And what happened to his beautiful deep throws? I was fully on the TT bandwagon, as too many people disregard his lack of turnovers and elusiveness while they are amazing sides of him, but his lacks are not getting better at all, and way too big. His lack of accuracy of late is baaaaad. Throwing few passes, he never had the chance to get in a groove, but in the past he still made some killer throws. Now he's become Captain Checkdown.

I've never "hated" Tyrod. I wish him nothing but the best. I hope week in and week out he'll recognize his mistakes and at least TRY to make some plays. But time & time again he shows who he cannot change. No matter how far we fall behind, he won't even attempt to throw beyond the 1st down marker on 3rd and long. How many times can he walk to the sideline after going 3 & out and not think "man, I should've at least tried to get a 1st down"? I rather risk turnovers than see the offense trotted out for 3 plays, go nowhere, and punt...

He's a nice guy, I hope he's successful in every aspect of his life, and would thank him for simply being a Bill. Outside of that, he's not a good NFL QB, and we need to move on. I have no fantasies that Peterman is suddenly going to lead us to victory, but we're not going to win many more games, if any (unless it's against the Dolphins) for the remainder of the year, so better to see what we have now going into the draft.

I was a TT supporter but yet another display of checkdowns and not throwing to WRs had gotten me off the bandwagon. People forget how bad interceptions can be and I love how he "protects the ball". But when behind on the score, throw some damn long passes! WTH! Throw to covered guys and let them fight for it. Is he scared of getting INTs on his record more than he wants to win?

  14. There has been worse losses in term of implications, dashed hopes and the likes. But nope, I don't remember a worse home loss! That was baaaaaaaaaaaddd

And unexpected in how it happened. We all know Drew Brees is a force, and pass rush had been suspect, but who thought the Bills D would be ran down the gut all day? That was atrocious. From preseason till the Jets game, few teams could amount any real run game against the Bills D. That was the strength and nice surprise of the year, even moreso than the takeaways. Now they looked like they didn't belonged in there and got run over. WTH happened out there?

Well people this is about as contenders versus pretenders as it gets!  Come on Buffalo you've got to turn the proverbial corner one day....here's hoping it's today.

    GO BILLS

Exactly! If the Bills are to make the playoffs and hopefully win some, they have to beat contenders, simple as that.

Why the overall pessimism AGAIN? Sure the Saints offense can blow up the Bills today. Odds slightly favor them to win IMO. But remember the packers and other "supposedly better teams" the Bills beat in the last 3 years? And according to the "experts" the Saints have performed - like the Bills - beyond what was expected. The six straight wins give them an aura but they have just one more win than the Bills so far this year!

  16. As mentioned by a few posters, this concussion issue dries out the talent pool at the high school level. I will affect the NFL at some point. Yet, there will still be enough players. If the NFL was half as popular as now it'd still be pretty damn big!

But yeah, all this have made me wary of letting my kids play the game. When 15-16+ they can do what they want. In my area, there is a sort of rough flag football with blocking, with full equipment, no kicking game, which I think is a great alternative for 8-14 yo. Football without some blocking just ain't football. But IMO kids shouldn't play full contact till much later in life so I like this new approach.

New helmets, new tackling techniques, rules to protect "defenseless receiver" have all been positive steps. With all the KOs and injuries still in the game, I cringe at the "pussification of the game" comments. Because there are no blatant head shots allowed anymore the game has gone soft? Really? Go on and run the ball straight up the middle then , tough guys.

  17. I had seen similar threads in other forums at the time he was injured, and the "video evidence" they provided was totally stupid. The O-Line struggled before and since, and in any case, the plays presented as "proof" were not conclusive at all. And just recall how the team went hard to defend him after a questionable hit, and Lynch got his one-game suspension. So while it COULD be possible, maybe from a few players, I highly doubt it, and it's just noise.

But this issue sure drags on and on, as it was easy to predict it would, as it's so open-ended. When/what has to happen for it to stop, for the complainers to be satisfied? There is no set goal post here. Nobody's keeping any score. No definite goal in site but "justice" according to their own definition of it.

  18. The difference between winning and losing are slim. Last year, with REX RYAN at the helm, throw in a few challenges done, 11 men on the field in overtime, and some made field goals, and the Bills were in the Playoffs. This year the Pats got two gifts: one by the refs against the Jets and the other with the Bucs' kicker. Are they just lucky then? They could be 4-4!

It is very possible the Bills miss out again this year, BUT, I can't stand the attitude of conceding the Pats the 2 games before even playing them! Nor the defeatism. Bills have many lingering issues. They lack depth. Take away Shady and ouch. But reading some posts here, it's like the other teams have all great depth, their QBs never throw bad passes, their coaches are always perfect, they can all withstand the injury bug. Get real.

Last game was scary though. NOT the fumbles and such that can sometimes happen, but the fact the Jets basically conceded short outs and slant passes in the middle and put 5-6 guys on the line to stop the run and keep TT from running. It's easy to beat such a scheme in theory, but while I'm big Tyrod supporter, these short outs and over the middle short-medium passes have been his weaknesses so will the Saints and other teams do the 5-6 men front till the Bills show they can beat it? Thankfully they had 10 days to adjust but still...

Same here! Well actually, I did try to register a couple of times in the past but it seems as I was from the Montreal area I wasn't let in. Glad to be here. Fan since 1994 and went to 7 games (6-1!). This site has always been my go-to-site for Bills news!
