Remember when we signed Mario Williams and then had Wahnstedt (spelling) as the DC. They were so bad. Bring in Pettine and then Schwatz and Mario was a beast.

It is all predicated on tight coverage and a front four that can rush. If your coverage can't cover (injuries) and your front four can't rush (talent and injuries) then no matter how you shuffle the deck chairs on the Titanic the movie ends the same.

Can I agree and disagree at the same time? We were to injured on defense to play what we set out to play this season. I have to think if we had a healthy Miller, Phillips, Jones, Hyde, Poyer and White we would have been much more competitive. On offense Dorsey is still learning but I agree we have to learn to take some easy high percentage stuff and run the ball and not just try to block it up and throw deep all the time.

KC kicks another FG and there's almost no damage done. Be intersting to see.

it was 17 to 10 at one point. A couple of second half stops would have made a huge difference. That said at that point White and Poyer were also injured so I'm not sure everyone would have been covered long enough for even a good DT to get there.

Most LB's would love to play behind that front 4. Not that Warner isn't good but he is in a good situation that helps.

I can't disagree but we didn't have to worry about that with Oliver, he never blew up. We were better with Darious than without him. We still had Kyle. After the two of them got done we've never had a presence in the middle like we did with them. Payne has way more size than Oliver and has, at the very least, shown an abliity to get to the QB. If the dollars were the same in the end I might think Payne has more upside.

He's pretty old now but Josh Johnson used to have some wheels.

McDermott and Co made the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor throwing to Deonte Thompson and Kelvin Benjamin lest we forget. People are getting kind of crazy and taking things for granted. It could be a hell of lot worse.

No turnovers and 4 takeaways on defense always helps. Coincidentally Klein always played pretty well here.

So many groups had injuries but the OL even healthy is suspect. Saffold was a miss and we could use upgrades at several spots and certainly upgrades to the back ups. Coaching I'm not going to call out Dorsey and Frazier and say they can't coach their respective units. Dorsey in his first year and Frazier dealing with a massive number of injuries at every position except LB but that said the down and distance management and time management has been at times atrocious.
