  1. Tell that to Belichick. You need good coaches on both sides of the ball. It doesn't matter with OC or DC for coach.
  2. Our OL and RB's showed the ability every time they were given the chance to run and run well. They hurried Allen because they were blitzing DB's offf the edge. Something we seldom do, much like running the ball. I'm not saying Dawkins and Brown were great but they weren't the overall problem.
  3. With all the injuries on defense who was going to be the difference maker? Poyer has been playing wounded for weeks. We needed a playmaker and we have none. That said Frazier needs to mix it up better. Someone needs to get to the QB. Especially when you are playing 2, 3rd, and 4th string players throughout your secondary.
  4. Offenses problems were not lack of resources. They're predictable and easily blitzed.
  5. Even more than having a pass rush the entire system we run is predicated off having good coverage. We haven't had good coverage most of the year and everything falls apart after that. Pass rush will never get there if there's always someone open and we have never been great at stopping the run. We hope for splash plays to stop drives. Against the Pats or Miami's 3rd string QB we had a chance but most teams carved us up pretty easily.
  6. I can't say it's the OL. We didn't have answers for the blitzing DB's and we don't run the ball so they know what's coming basically every play. Brown and Dawkins both had some bad plays but neither (in the big picture) were the reason we couldn't score. We are just too predictable and teams only have to commit to coverage and pass rush not because we can't run but because we just don't.
  7. Frazier is to defense what Dorsey seems to be to offense. If our offense isn't hitting big passes Dorsey doesn't have many answers and if our defense can't cover even when the are playing coverage Frazier isn't going to have an answer. Halftime most coaches would come out and run or hit some short passes and on defense most teams would blitz or bring a safety down and take some chances stopping short throws and runs since we aren't stopping the deep throws anyways but not our coaches. Same thing all game long.
  8. Instead of building a championship team we built a team that beats up on bad teams. Instead of coming into the playoffs being a team that can run or pass and stop the run or stop the pass we throw all the damn time and if the big plays don't happen we don't score. Defense can't cover. I mean our pass rush is not the best but there are almost no cover sacks because the opposing QB's always have somewhere to throw the ball.
  9. They ran the ball. Smart really. We sat Jones (our space eater) and we played pass rushers and then it snowed. They took their back ups and just leaned on us and we couldn't stop them. Once the run was established we were left guessing and we didn't play run or pass well after that.
  10. Game adjustments. When your coverage clearly isn't getting there you need to mix in some cb blitzes. You have to get there. Even not stopping the run you can mitigate a little bit if you shut down the pass but you can't keep rushing 4 and not getting there if you coverage is consistently getting beat.
  11. I'm sorry but 10 rushes with 2 minutes left in the 4th means we were never trying to run the ball. All year long we made little effort to run the ball. Teams don't have to game plan for it because even if we could run the ball (which we could) we won't. Since we never run they simply flip between disguised blitzes and then coverage and their blitzes get there and there coverage leaves Josh with no where to throw. We try to play everything on every play and we can't cover well enough or get to the passer. It's maddening.
  12. Someday we'll learn that controlling the line of scrimmage is goal one.
  13. Hindsight is 20/20. Pretty sure Jones would have been the most useful DT we could have put out there today. Bengals OL is just moving guys around. Probably thought Phillips and Oliver were the pass rushers but so far no one is getting there would have rather had a guy who could hold his ground.
  14. They can cover and we can't is a big difference in this game. We get a few catches when they blitz and Josh gets knocked around then the rush 3 play coverage and we can't get open. We can't do that on defense. Even when we play all coverage guys are open.
  15. Crazy what blitzing a DB off the corner will do for you. Maybe Frazier should take note.
  16. Is Daquan Jones hurt? Haven't seen him all game. Phillips and Oliver are not getting there. Haven't seen Rousseau once yet either.
  17. Sometimes when you try to do everything you end up doing nothing. We have two safeties playing deep but they aren't stopping the deep passes or stopping the middle of the field stuff and they aren't stopping the run either.
  18. Any game AJE has had 43 percent of the snaps or more he's had a sack. He usually plays the side Lawson plays and Lawson typically gets 50 percent or more of the snaps so they must be looking for the run defense from that position and consider Lawson the better at it. AJE is definitely the second best pass rusher we have at the DE position (not counting Miller because he'd hurt).
  19. Miami was in blitz zero over half the game. Most plays were one on one blocking and hoping the extra guy got picked up so there wasn't time to throw deep on every play. Yet play after play we tried to throw deep on every play. In many instances we are trying to score 100 points and pushing for incredible plays instead of taking what's easy and winning without the style points. Many of the plays are there if everything goes perfect but when they don't we let teams stick around or even take leads in games they have no real business leading. I don't blame our OL for the sacks. We had easy solutions in most cases. Quick throws or run the football (we were up 17 points). As an offense we want to score on every play and it's beautiful sometimes .............. and other times it isn't.
  20. Getting that hometown call. Need to swaddle that QB and rock him gently to the ground.
  21. Lets not get carried away. The majority of the Dolphins points either came off turnovers or was directly a result of turnovers. They had one TD drive and that was about it.
  22. Emunds is the worlds largest safety. Given the system we play he's exactly what the coaches want. They threw the ball 45 times so Edmunds was right in his element.
