But Billy Beane (aka idiot) never did get fired. He only got promoted
Risky move though, wouldn't you agree?

As Jonah Hill said in Moneyball, "This is the type of move that can get you fired"

I'm kinda hoping we draft a kicker with this upcoming pick
Nah, we need a Reid Ferguson replacement

Why do I feel John McCargo is going to be our pick?

This is honestly lining up good for the Bills...so far. WR run started in early 20's last year

Why would I want Xavier worthy? There’s mountains of evidence why.

It's the Jets baby!! What do you expect?

NFC North looking like an ascendant division. Det and GB already are legit. Minn was okay moving on from their franchise QB, which is rare. Chi has added MAJOR pieces in the offseason.
Just disagreeing in the word "scary". As you note, they are likely at minimum the 3rd best team in their division (similar to last year)

Glad the Bills won't be forcing their way up now. Maybe they trade up a couple picks, but no crazy splash to the top 10.
Bears are going to be scary though. 2024 version of the Texans.
Scary? Things are looking up but easy on the hyperbole, it is Chicago. Playing in the sorry NFC does help though

Where exactly do we have holes? Safety? Maybe? GET AN ELITE WRNo massive holes other than WR. But S, IOL, and DL have mediocre depth at best. We're better off at LB and CB than some believe, but help there wouldn't hurt either.

Do you follow hockey? They fire guys on Monday and hire a new guy by the next game on Wednesday.
The Sabres are acting like a real NHL team. This is what they do. There doesn’t need to be an extensive search because everyone knows about these guys. They’ve been hired by 3-4 teams already.
Ruff is right up there with all the other candidates. This not a nostalgia hire. He’s exactly what the GM said he wanted. He’s a better fit than some of the other guys because of how well he works with young teams.
Terry, is that you?

Obviously, right here🤷 It was a response to a previous post.
Big time Sabres fan but they are inarguably one of the most pathetic franchises in American sports.

It's news!
Any major hire the Sabres org has to meet 3 criteria:
1. Best hire
2. Who Terry is willing to hire.
3. Who will take the job.
Under those 3 circumstances I think Lindy is in the top tier.
Pro's: I think this could set the stage to push Terry a step further back from hockey decisions and/or an eventual promotion of Lindy to POHO. Even if this whole Adams/Ruff era fails I would rather Lindy hire the next GM than Terry.
Cons: They fired Donnie 6 days ago. They either didn't even try and hire another candidate or there are a huge amount of candidates that don't meet no. 2 or no. 3 above. Both are giant red flags for the org.If Terry isn't willing to hire top tier guys while presiding over an NHL record playoff drought and with the supposed "sole existence" of the Sabres being to win a Stanley Cup, we've got some serious problems...

The organization couldn’t do an extensive search. They were already in the links before most teams finished the season and any other serious candidate is too wrapped up in their teams’ playoffs. The Sabres will be more aggressive and be accountable under Ruff’s leadership. Can we really ask for more?
Guys like Craig Berube, Todd McClellan, and Gerard Gallant are all not currently employed and would've been outstanding choices. They wouldn't have to wait for any of them.
So the question is did the Sabres even try to reach out to any of them? My suspicion is no. Unfortunately the Sabres under Terry have become like the Bills under Ralph during the drought. They go with the guys they "know".
All of this said, I do like Lindy and he does have a great history as a Sabre. I just shake my head when a mere six days pass before he is announced as head coach when there is no other demand for his coaching services.

Is this good news?
If they went through an extensive head coach search, were turned down by a few top candidates, and determined Lindy to be the best option? Yes
If they went the nostalgia route and didn't even conduct interviews (which is likely what happened)? No

He was a top 10 qb for most of his career. Don’t see a HOF jacket in his future, but stranger things have happened. Decent broadcaster
Pretty much. I actually think he was really good in the booth for a first year guy. Still kinda weird to announce your retirement after jumping into broadcasting.

Damn, had no idea man lol. My condolences.
I honestly feel out of all the relocations in major sports over the last few decades that no one deserves it less than A's fans. A sad situation
