Who loves the pick? I heard “polite applause “.
Means nothing on this board. For supposedly being knowledgable fans, some of these Bills fans prove that they aren't.

I am convinced that the people who hate this pick, don't really watch college football. They watch highlights and read commentaries from non-NFL people to get their information.

Nobody in the NFL is running away from people consistently except for guys like Tyreek Hill. Diggs wasn't doing that. A WR's job is to create leverage at the catch point to open up a throwing window, then catch the ball, then make something happen with the ball in their hands if there's an opportunity. Coleman I believe can do all of that. And he's going to really work at his craft.
Think about how many times the Bills receivers didn't come up with contested catches. Coleman should fix that.

trying to like the pick…It's okay. Like him. He'll be good. And he's not a smurf! He's someone who's skill set we don't already have.

NFL draft had Coleman around 35 best player..
And we got him at 33.
Folks on this board will not be happy with anything Beane does. Coleman is a guy we don't have! He's not a smurf...and I watch a lot of college football...he's faster on the field than his timed speed. He will make the contested catches. He has good release at the LOS.

I'm a tad nervous because I've been pumping up Coleman as a great pick, and now if he sucks I'm gonna look stupid. But man his size and competitiveness and hands just get me really excited. Allen is a gunslinger. He just got his guy he can launch the ball to downfield 1v1.
I agree with you Happy. We all want the shiny fast dude. Coleman has proven a reliable receiver with size, good hands and he'll beat corners for the ball. He plays faster than he tests. The comps are Colston or Mike Williams. I'm good with this.

I just want a WR. I don't care who at this point.

Wouldn't it be amazing if... we get Franklin and he turns out to be one of the best WRs in the class? After the combine crap-show, after all the drama and the trading down?
Added bonus: Worthy becomes a track-star JAG in the NFL.
Not saying either will happen but wouldn't it be sweet? And Beane is totally vindicated. That would be the best possible outcome.

On Sirius this afternoon...they talked about the Bills trade very positively...albeit they joked they want the Bills to pick and not trade down again at 33. They mentioned a lot of scouts see Worthy as fast...but not of first round quality. Many had him rounds 2 to 3.

That is NOWHERE near fair value for them. Have you ever looked at a trade value chart?
We would be giving 268 and receiving 315 which is equivalent to them just flushing a mid 3rd rd pick down the toilet
I'm scared of AD Mitchell, he has huge upside but he takes plays off and could wind up being a huge flop and a headache. I'd rather take McConkey, who has a lower ceiling and a higher floor.
I did...and realized it was lopsided. But that's my point. I would only trade down again if the Bills got a boatload and the trading team payed a premium.

The premium Washington is paying for that move is approximate value of a mid-3rd. I don't think they'd touch that. The most Beane can reasonably expect as a bidding-war premium is the value of a low 4th. The goal here is to get Buffalo to where they have 4 to 5 of the top-100 picks. Washington can facilitate that if they have a target and want to pay a premium to go to 33.
Something like 33 + 95 + 128 for 40 + 67 + 100. Washington pays a premium close to the value of the 128 pick by allowing Buffalo to upgrade the two lower picks, leaving Buffalo picking at: 40, 60, 67, 100.
This configuration seems to align nicely to present value players for Bills roster needs in those slots.
I don't think I'd like to drop to 40. The run on receivers could wipe out the top targets.

we would need to addScrew the draft chart. You pay the premium for the first pick.

If they decide to trade down...the only move I'd make is with Washington...33 and 60 for 36 and 40.

As far as having a new guy to talk about. But we are well positioned for tomorrow. Who are 2-3 receivers you still like? And who do you think they take?
I like Polk and McConkey however I think they are gonna take Franklin. The Bills have more documented visits with him that amy other prospect and they have a track record of selecting guy they have multiple meetings with
Lance Zuerlein did a mock of rounds 2 and 3 today. He has the Bills picking:
33 Adonai Mitchell WR Texas
60 Jaden Hicks S, Wash
95 Javon Baker WR UCF
If we did this...I'd be thrilled!

The Panthers trade was awesome. The 33rd pick is arguably more strategically valuable than the 32nd, because it's very coveted by multiple teams, and you have an entire day to compare various offers and re-set your board, vs having 10 minutes on the clock at pick 32.
Yes, you give up the 5th year option, but that's only of major consequence for QBs and, as the PFF blurb points out, is not as valuable as it once was for other positions.
The Chiefs move was good in a vacuum, and without it, the Panthers trade could not have happened. Obviously, trading with the hated Chiefs still stings.
Taking emotion out of it, it's hard not to conclude that Beane made intelligent strategic choices.
...But I was still pissed off last night.Last night's take was the most illogical opinion I'd ever heard you express, Logic.
In truth...just about anything the Chiefs do pisses me off as a matter of course.

The best deal might not mean the most compensation, that's my point. I think they had offers for more value but didn't want to move back too far because early 2nd is normally a WR frenzy.
Well...we'll never know.

Not quite what he said. He said it was the deal that made the most sense for the Bills. I actually took it as "we didn't want to go back that far." And I get that. You don't sabotage your own plan just to stop someone else.
In a follow up question, he said that KC offered the best deal.

What we can reasonably guess is that the Chiefs offered more than the other callers.
Which is what Beane said.

Who was the draft pundit who said we would trade back with Carolina and then take McConkey at 33?
If Beane was speaking truth when he said he didn’t have first round grades on 28 players and all the players he did have first round grades on were gone, then he’s gonna find some value on days two and three. I have a hunch he’s gonna acquire a third pick in the 2nd round as well.
While Worthy has boom or bust written all over him and I’m glad we didn’t take him, it just sucks to make that deal with KC.
Beane said they had more players with 2nd round grades than 1st round grades. He didn't try to move up in the first because he didn't want to give up his 2nd round pick this year or mortgage next year's picks.

I would be completely pleased with grabbing two extra picks and likely getting who they wanted at 28 anyway if it was any other team besides the Chiefs. Giving a rival a chance to upgrade their weakest position is not logical. Now to see what Buffalo does. Maybe Buffalo likes Adonai Mitchell or Keon Coleman at WR, Maybe those picks are leverage for a trade to get Aiyuk or Higgins.
It will be interesting to see what the roster looks like in three days. I will reserve judgement until then.
Except they would have upgraded that position anyway.

Yes but we still moved from 133 to 95. That is not insignificant.

Shakir averaged 36 yards per game last year, so I wouldn't point to him as this major coup of a pick.
Buffalo's best draft pick used on a WR in 6 drafts is a 4th on Davis. And he was so good they let him walk in UFA.
McBeane have found most of their production from UFA or trades at the position in a league which prioritizes them in the draft.
Don't look at that average and use that as your evaluation. Plus...it's merely a comparison of the Bills e v a l of Shakir vs KC's e v a l of Skye Moore. Still...look at what Shakir did late in the season and in the playoffs.

It’s not the trade downs that are absurd
it’s you traded down with the chiefs and didn’t even get fair market value, if it’s the chiefs the tag should be even higher than market value
beane got abused on that trade, it’s shockingly bad
Okay. We don't trade down with the Chiefs. We pass on Worthy. And they draft him at 32 anyway. OH...we sure showed them!!!!
We did get fair market value using the draft charts. Happy Days did the computation.
