To a lot of people "being realistic" means being super negative. Sometimes that makes sense, but not in our case this year. We were a team on the verge of the playoffs last year. I can't not see how anyone would think we'd be less than a 7 to 9 win team. "4 and 10" is just someones way of getting attention.
Most of the team was gone, as well as the coaching staff and offensive and defensive schemes. Certainly makes sense for people to think the team wouldn't do well.
I am definitely not negative and find myself defending the team and coaches a lot, but I didn't think the team would win a lot of games. First year of new everything.

I 100% agree with this. The team is definitely talent deficient but has found a way to play sound football (for the most part) and win games. That is a mark of good coaches, if you ask me.

Even if they miss the playoffs, going 8-8 or 9-7 in the first year of a major rebuild, with all new coaches, GM, and staff, plus most of the roster different, I'd say that's a huge sign of better days to come.
I said at the beginning of the season that if the Bills get to 8 wins it would be remarkable. I still feel that way.
We need a QB, though, and some other pieces.

Could be the Titans fall off and don't make the playoffs, letting Baltimore AND Buffalo in.

I think both moves were best for the franchise, surprised they did this current one though.
You think benching Flutie was good for the franchise?
-
I didn't see him play because I turned the game off early. Had better things to do than watch the Bills get dominated.
But wouldn't the Saints have had their backups in by then? They were up by a huge margin. There's no reason to risk their starters.
If so, not saying it takes everything away from what Peterman did, but still.
I say give Tyrod another game. If it is more garbage, put in Peterman. I think Taylor is probably better overall, but we clearly have oline issues, and Taylor is a QB that needs more time than any QB in the league. Peterman makes quicker decisions, and that's what this oline needs.

I have no idea how they'll play. I bet they'll try hard and be well prepared, but sometimes that isn't enough.
I have some hopes, but we'll all have to wait and see what happens. Nobody knows.
-
I'm sure everyone said to relax last time we were 5-3 as well ...
I think we go 9-7 now. Hope it is enough to make the playoffs ...
-
Throws a wrench in MY schedule too!
-
People care way too much about who the backup running back is. Huge head scratcher for me.
There are plenty of starters to complain about ...
-
He was horrible tonight. Romo called him out multiple times. At least Miller can run blocking, so I say bring him back. Ducasse is just not good.
-
To be fair, I thought it was a ticky tacky penalty. When I saw the penalty announced I was PO. Then on the replay, I don't really know what he did wrong? Not wait for them to bring out the sticks? Maybe he was dropping F-bombs on the way to the sideline but to be fair, I was too.
He was mouthing off to the refs. Whatever he said, he was saying it directly to them as he walked off, and they kept telling him "That's enough!" and then they threw a flag. We will never know what he was saying, but it was idiotic.
-
Tyrod is the type of QB you keep for as long as it takes to get a sure franchise QB. I hope we don't get rid of him prematurely.
He's a decent, very consistent QB. The problem is he doesn't really have the ability to just take over a game and play like a superstar. He needs a lot of help around him, which is fine. The great thing about him is you know he is never going to throw that back breaking INT, which means you'll always have a chance.
-
Good thing he doesn't need to be a superhero to run all over them.
But honestly, I would probably say the same thing in his situation, albeit in a different way.
-
He did?? When did this happen???
When he was drafted in the 6th round.
-
Incredible that there are actual people who believe such nonsense ...
McDermott and Beane have been amazing so far.
-
Things don't end well for him, but he has a pretty good run.
-
I would rather him stick around for a season or two after Brady and get the snot beat out of him, but it's just a dream ...
-
Cam would be a headache, one that I don't think McDermott would want to deal with. He wants team first, high character players and no controversies. Cam is immature and constantly saying and doing dumb stuff in the media. I couldn't stand seeing him pout on the sideline with a towel on his head in a Bills uniform.

I mean, no......there is Dareus and the picks to Carolina........but Benjamin is a really good get for a 3 and a 7.
Matthews likely won't be back now.......this probably seals his deal outta town.......he's a big slot( a "y") and Zay Jones is a big slot.
Matthews can play some Z but Benjamin would be the Z ideally and he's making $8M next year........Benjamin might be able to be the X but they would probably want Thompson there for sheer speed(and cheap).
Matthews is way better than Zay Jones at this point. No telling if Zay will even progress. He might be best as a backup WR until he learns how to play in the NFL. I hope they keep Matthews.
Also, you can never have too many good WR's. Nothing says they can't rotate those guys just like they do the defensive line, especially if Tyrod gets used to all of them. Each guy can have their own package of plays that meet their individual strengths.
-
Also, this takes WR off the board next draft. At least a high pick for one.
Those picks can go to other needy positions. Or a trade up for a QB that can sit and learn for a season or two.
-
Amazing value. Our WR room is legit now. We have a true first stringer in Benjamin, Jordan Matthews is a true high end #2 WR. Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, and Deonte Thompson sprinkled in as their strengths permit. Looking good!
-
Hopefully a 2019 pick instead of 2018.
-
But no, the Bills can't get high picks for players. Meanwhile teams are throwing around 2nd round picks.
That's why we DON'T have 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and 2 thirds in next year's draft ...

These are the types of trap games we have lost in the past. Let's see how this team responds to a game they should win. If you look at our schedule, we need this one. This and the 2 Miami games and the Colts should be gimmes. Then 1 more win puts us over the hump into the mystical double digit wins
I don't think the Bills have qualified for a "trap game" for quite some time.
The November game against the Jets is where Bills teams of the past with good records have rolled over, and with it, the season died.
This is a game this team should absolutely win. This is the game that will show whether or not they have turned the corner.
We haven't seen a 6-2 record or better since 1993. This is truly one of the most important games the Bills have played in years. I am nervous as hell but can't wait until Thursday.
I know it's early in the season to say this, but I think we will look at this game at the end of the season, and say that it was the game that made the season, or broke it.
I feel like people have been saying that almost every game this season.

Wow. That guy just provided paragraph after paragraph of support for his opinion and this is how you respond? I guess you really have nothing to refute his opinion and must resort to insults.
