  1. Good: * No injuries against competition * TB FG kicking in unusual wind * McDermott challenges * Turnout by BillsMafia Bad: * Beat in the trenches on both sides * Zero push by the OL on running plays * MVS with a bad drop on an easy catch * Lack of discipline and penalties * Mitch widely inconsistent Overall, I still sense we need a big power back added for short yardage added to the RB group. I also hope Edwards heals up soon at Safety. Entire team seemed flat, unprepared and undisciplined. Also D getting off the field on 3rd and long continues to be a challenge. Thankfully it’s only preseason and everyone came away healthy.
  2. Bears backups playing much better than Bills backups! Very few highlight plays by any Bills player today.
  3. Hamler looks like he’s got an extra gear in space.
  4. Surprised VPG isn’t playing C instead of Anderson. Get him some reps.
  5. Nope….just the backup scrambling, chucking it up hoping someone catches it. Thankfully the call was overturned.
  6. It’s astonishing how often the D gives up 3rd and long conversions.
  7. Bills have been pretty sloppy thus far in the first half. Regardless primary goal is to stay healthy.
  8. Makes you wonder if they are intentionally kicking it into the EZ.
  9. Running game less than impressive thus far. Zero push by the OL. Only preseason but Bills getting beat in the trenches on both sides.
  10. I keep telling myself it’s only preseason but thus far the only highlight for the Bills is a punt. 3rd and long continues to be challenging to get off the field. Almost zero pressure from the DL.
  11. That really wasn’t the intent of this thread, however the thread has turned into that. Being the offseason, I thought it would be good dialogue on where individuals would like to see growth or development from McDermott. I’m interested to see if he truly acts as the HC this year, letting his DC and OC take the reins. IMO he’s been unbalanced with too much attention on the D which has hurt him at times. My other growth area for McDermott is situational awareness in key moments.
  12. It’s a fine line. He’s done a great job turning around the franchise but I’ve expected better growth from him. For as much as he preaches fundamentals, execution and preparation his teams struggles when it matters most. IMO, this is a big season for him to step up.
  13. McDermott is going into his 7th season as the Bills head coach. His staff beneath him has turned over with a new DC and it’s Brady’s first full season as OC. The schedule is loaded and the AFCE has improved. Curious what your expectations are of McDermott? What areas do you hope/expect he improves at? McDermott has been a solid coach with lots of positives but far too often stumbles a few times per season against a lesser team, struggles to make in game adjustments and come the playoffs, he gets outcoached in key games and his team has failed to execute at critical moments. Overall, he has a losing record in the playoffs at 5-6.
  14. The Bills have opened on the road the last two years. Would think they open at home this year.
  15. Not surprising. Hopefully he really comes into his own this year. Beane has thrown a ton of resources (draft annd FA’s) into the DL and I think it’s fair to say we’ve all expected more impact. The 2021 draft class by Beane has been average thus far. The Basham pick still makes me scratch my head. Round 1: No. 30 - Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami Round 2: No. 61 - Carlos Basham Jr., DE, Wake Forest Round 3: No. 93 - Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa Round 5: No. 161 (from LV) - Tommy Doyle, OT, Miami (OH) Round 6: No. 203 (from WAS through LV, MIA, and HOU) - Marquez Stevenson, WR, Houston Round 6: No. 212 (from NO through HOU) - Damar Hamlin, S, Pittsburgh Round 6: No. 213 - Rachad Wildgoose, CB, Wisconsin Round 7: No. 236 (from CAR) - Jack Anderson, OG, Texas Tech
  16. I’m not ready to move on from Beane as he’s provided McDermott with a competitive roster. One could argue with a different coach they may have already won a SB. While McDermott gets credit for establishing a winning culture and raising expectations, he continues to fail in the playoffs. He’s 5-6 with really one solid win over Baltimore that is his marquee playoff win. As a reminder Lamar got knocked out with a concussion. Most of the playoff wins have come against lower tier QBs. His losses in the playoffs have been gut wrenching and have highlighted his coaching deficiencies against other quality coaches. @Jags, @Houston, @KC, home against Cinncy and KC were all very winnable games and yet the Bills under MCDermott found ways to give those games away! My patience and confidence that McDermott can get this team over the hump has greatly diminished. At this point, the excuses have run out and his seat should be getting much warmer. This season should tell us a lot!
  17. Initial reaction to our 2024 draft class?
  18. Hyde was much more of a ball hawk than Cole is. Cole only had 3 INT’s in college.
  19. Maybe later in the year but not sure he will early in the season.
  20. Okay with trading back but do it for a 2025 pick not more picks in 2024!
  21. I would have never bet we’d trade down four times in the draft. I actually would have bet the opposite. Please tell me Beane has some targets in FA or working on a player trade. Otherwise I’m struggling with what he’s doing this year besides adding depth players. Coleman is possibly the only starter coming out of this draft. Ugh!
  22. Love our draft capital in 2025 along with our freed up cap space.
  23. Three year starter against top talent in the SEC. If he only plays C for us and does it well I don’t care about position flexibility! Might be our best overall pick thus far.
