IMO it doesn’t need torn down but it certainly needs an infusion of talent in certain areas. QB: Set with Josh OL is the best it’s been in years and should be a strength next year. TE: Solid Kincaid and Knox RB: Good with Cook and Johnson but need to add a young power back. Cook should be on the jug machine all off season. WR: MUST UPGRADE with more speed and a playmaker. Need to hit in a deep WR draft. Two picks should go to WR. Beane has to get it right! Defensively, this is where change is needed. CB: Build around Douglas and Benford with Dane and Elam backing up. Taron Johnson in the slot. Solid group LB: Milano and Benford with good depth with Williams and Dodson. Good core group S: Hyde, Hamlin are likely gone. I’d resign Rapp if it works but I’m drafting for a S in the draft. Need to add speed and a ballhawk. DE: Not much you can do with Von. Gotta pray he’s not a liability in 2024. Bills need to hit in the draft with a pick that becomes an immediate and consistent disruptor. It’s a glaring gap. Floyd, AJE and Shaq are likely gone. They’ve swung and whiffed too many times. DT: Oliver and hopefully resign Jones. Settle, Ford, Phillips and Joseph probably gone for younger talent. The bigger questions is what happens at the coordinator positions. Our offense while good is too inconsistent and at times everything seems harder than it should. I’d like a proven DC brought it.

McDermott is now 5-6 in the playoffs. All five of the wins have been at home. He’s yet to win on the road going 0-4. His victories have come against the following QB led teams: *Indy 27-24 led by Phillip Rivers *NE 47-17 led by Mac Jones (btw has beaten the Bills twice) *Baltimore 17-3 led by Lamar Jackson who left the game injured *MIA 34-31 led Skylar Thompson *Pittsburgh 31-17 led by Mason Rudolph His losses have been to: *KC led by Mahomes >38-24 >42-36 >27-24 *Cinncy 27-10 led by Burrows *Houston 22-19 led by Watson *Jags 10-3 led by Bortles His playoff track record is beating lower tier QB led teams and has won those games without being upset. Against good QB led teams in the playoffs his track record is atrocious. IMO, the team under his leadership has squandered and or choked in four of those games. He’s yet to win a game against top tier contenders. I give McDermott all the credit to building the franchise to what it is today. There is certainly a lot of good in what he does but I continue to come back to the little things that keep holding him back. Lastly, I don’t see much growth from him. Every year there is a common theme. Sure the Bills have won, but how many games have they lost where they had no business losing? At the end of the day coaching matters, preparation matters, scheme and playcalling matters, adjusting during the game matters and time and time again McD and his staff fail in big moments. I really question if he can get them where they’re trying to get to especially when it matters the most!

Bills really need an infusion of impactful talent thru the draft for obvious reasons. (Cap hit, age and talent) Look at Detroit and the impactful young players they have at the skill positions. If you’re spending $$$$ in FA it better dang well go to a stud WR! All of money spent on the D hasn’t gotten you over the hump when it matters.

WRS, DE and S are the top draft priorities in that order. Draft a power RB in the later rounds. Center could be a major need if Morse is done.

Divisional Playoffs - Chiefs at Bills - Post game thread

You know the DL was awful when Von led the DL in tackles with two. How does that happen? For the amount of money invested in the DL that’s a horrible return and embarrassing! -
DJones, Dodson, Ty Johnson, DJackson and Edwards. I think everyone else moves on as we need to infuse new talent.
-
I’d seriously consider if Ben Johnson was in play if I’d move on from McDermott. Not going to happen but it might be the right move! McD is now 5-6 and outside of beating Lamar Jackson who had an in game concussion has he beaten a top QB lead playoff team. Choked against Watson and Mahomes and got embarrassed by Burrow. That’s concerning and a big red flag.

I don’t disagree on how they responded but the harsh reality is they SHOULD HAVE NEVER been in that situation. Ever season under McDermott they lose games they have no business losing and they continue to not do the little things that hurts them. -

Bills lack proven playmakers outside of Josh. It’s very evident! Offense scored on ONE drive in the 2nd half as KC adjusted and Brady had no response. Crucial drops by Diggs and Sherfield that needed and should have been caught! It’s not debatable. DL was flat out embarrassing and it needs a complete overhaul. On the last drive they got way too conservative worrying about giving the ball back to KC vs go get a TD and win the game. I fully believe we need to explore the OC position. Everything is so difficult compared to the other playoff teams. Rarely do our WR’s draw interference or holding calls and struggle to get separation. MCDermott now 5-6 in the playoffs. Another good season that wasn’t good enough when it mattered. Not sure if a McDermott led team can get over the mental hump! Bills HAVE to hit at WR and DE in the upcoming draft. Solid game by Josh, Kincaid and Shakir offensively. OL was solid Disappointing games by the entire DL, Diggs and Bass. Will give Martin a pass as he was obviously injured. -

For all the money invested in the DL and to have no impact is beyond bad. Not one of them can beat their man. -

DL having ZERO impact. Groot, Floyd, Jones, Oliver, Von having no impact which is just unacceptable. LB are being exposed. -

Helluva an answer back. Shakir and Josh made Cooks easy TD drop a non moment thankfully. For all the good Cook does that’s happening way too much! Alright, D lets get to half up 17-13!!!! -

Detroit has crushed their recent drafts and their OC Johnson has done an excellent job of designing, scheming and calling plays. -
Did Rapp and Spector pull a muscle? Would have thought both would be available? It sucks that Rapp’s injury happened on the last defensive play of the game against MIA on his interception!
-
Was hopeful Rapp, Benford, Baylor and Gabe might be able to go. Not expecting Bernard back. Let’s pray Rasul isn’t limited and that Taron is able to go! With all the injuries on the D, the Brady led offense is going to have to win and put up lots of points against KC’s spags D to get the win. Bills need to play with the lead out of the gate! KC’s offense has a bigger advantage against our D with the injuries and I would also give their ST the advantage.

Kansas City at Buffalo in the Divisional Round!
TFBillsfan replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills need to protect the ball and win the turnover battle. DL must rise up and be disruptive in the passing game and shut down their running game. It’s time for all the investment in the DL to pay dividends! Hopeful everyone is available with the exception of Bernard and Dodson who realistically won’t be available. Loved seeing a few new wrinkles from Brady with Harty and Isabella. Get them in space and let them YAC. The missed play to Isabella looked promising. Josh needs to continue to spread the ball around and not force anything unless needed. ST no costly mistakes and need their contributions. Lastly, hopeful the team comes out hot, plays with intensity and discipline and the stadium shakes for 4 qtrs. LETS GO BUFFALO! 🦬 -
LB core is trending towards Klein and Williams. For this game, I’m hopeful Williams speed will be an asset and I love his physicality. But no doubt losing Milano, Bernard and Dodson hurts. Really hoping Taron is available as he’s been an impactful player vs KC. The Bills really need their DL to dominate the trenches, shut down the run and get after Mahomes! Rudolph had way too much time!
