Until we see more of McCarron do we really know? Tyrod is a great athlete but he isn’t a good QB. Poor sight, poor accuracy and poor decisions. Only thing he did good was run and not turnover the ball. But him playing safe way too much was the reason he never turned the ball over.
-
Good job.... He played well when he got his opportunity, just not much tape on him. He’s a bigger risk then the other QBs in free agency but it may pay off for us.....

For what, a bag of balls?

I am a huge Crimson Tide fan. I am not saying that AJ is great, but he is a winner, and a good player to have on the team. We are not talking about EJ Manuel here.
Make no mistake, there are qbs in this draft that I would love to select as well, but McCarron (imo) is WAY better than you think.
And he’s ready to start, which may not be the case with any rookie we draft.

Just what we need for what? To win 8 games? I’m tired of mediocrity. You can be ok with it, that’s your prerogative. Maybe we can hit lightning in a bottle like keenum and foles last year. Maybe. Probably not. McCarron doesn’t need solid D to be a champion. He needs an elite D like the Vikings, Eagles or jags. If we sign him, it’s not to be our QB of the future, if that was the case, we’d have already signed him. He’s a bridge that no other team has signed. Meanwhile we have 40 year old QBs getting 10 mill a year. Glennon being signed. Teddy hasn’t played in 2 years, he’s signed. Bradford is consistently broken. He got 20 a year, McCarron.......he’s been offered the backup job in NE.
Are there a lot of Bama fans here?
He’s a risk, I get it. But he played solid for a guy in his second season getting his action for the first time.... Part of the reason he hasn’t been considered is because of the risk when so many guys have proved more and have more gametime experience. That can’t be knock on how he played, just teams wanting to be safe. At this point to we have the option of playing it safe? Peterman is the only QB on our roster.
The Pats have the best QB in the league, I doubt they’d offer him a starting contract. Brady could retire any year despite wanting to play for 3 or 4 more. They also have a quality backup locked in for 3 years, why even show interest in McCarron? No since speculating on why they are interested in McCarron. All I know is the Pats have proven they are great evaluators of talent.

It’s not based on him beating him LSU twice. It’s not based on him playing at Alabama and making championship games, it’s not based on him being awesome in Cincinnati (because he wasn’t). It’s based on my eyes. The same as you, He makes questionable decisions. Has issues throwing the deep out, I don’t think his arm is suitable for Buffalo. He’s just the epitome of Meh imo.
Again, I don’t think he stinks. I think he’s a good backup, I wouldn’t want to pay a backup qb 10+ mill a year. A one year prove it deal if the only thing that makes sense to me. I wouldn’t want to tie up any money beyond 2018 with him,
Such bull ****.... You don’t like him, that’s fine.
He played pretty well when Dalton went down for a guy seeing action for the first time. His arm did not look like a problem to me. In his 4 starts he threw 1 pick, that’s TERRIBLE..Had 2 wins and would of had a third if Burflict didn’t !@#$ them. Pretty sure they lost to Denver in OT also.
For a team that plays solid defense, McCarron just might be what the doctor ordered.... Don’t we play solid D?

Any credible reports that they actually made an offer or negotiated with Bradford? I believe there was some initial talk but quickly rose above Beane's price point.
Guy spent 6 years in Miami enjoying the sunshine and reviewing the all-22 photos with Ryan Tannehill, other things being equal, why would he want to come North? Probably has become used to waking up on Monday not having it hurt to breathe.
A chance to play.... It’s funny, he was on the Phins for five years and when Tannehill went down they didn’t want him to start.
Now we’re targeting to be our bridge QB for our rookie to learn from. LMFAO

You don’t have to target Matt Moore. Call and he’ll come running

Sure; he could take up some things from Matt Moore, AJM, and if he's around, BH. And no, I don't think for a second that AJM could be that guy. If any of these guys are on the field, for any reason, I want them to be able to win a game and of those three names, two have proven to be effective off the bench. I'll let you guess who isn't.
If you start from a position of "who will be the franchise guy" and are looking at those names, you've got the wrong question. Not a great list to be learning from. They’ve all had ups and downs of the bench. Did you see Matt Moore play this year? You’d rather have him start the season? Lol. Hoyer got benched Beardhead this year, then cut.
I never asked you if McCarron could be the guy, I asked if there is any guarantee our draft pick will be the guy. There is very little film on McCarron, but he showed some good qualities. And guess what, he spent 4 years behind an actual starter in this league.

I get it.
But there are people here talking about the "potential" of McCarron. WTF cares what he can be? In Buffalo the other QBs are around to watch. I want a tutor, somebody who in TC will show the guy how it's done and ultimately step aside. Is there a guy left you’d actually want a rookie to learn from? Is there a guarantee that our draft pick actually succeeding in this league?
I don’t care who becomes the franchise guy as long as someone steps up. McCarron could be that guy
-
Sure way to boost his stock with rarely stepping on the field
-
Best scenario I think. Sure we lost out on some better options but I like the idea of signing a guy who could potentially be more then just a bridge QB. AJ didn’t look out of place in this league when he started a few games a couple years ago, i’m fine with giving him a shot
-
If it was just that simple... We’re moving up to get a guy but there is no guarantee the guy we pick will be our franchise qb.
-
They all are terrible.... I can’t even watch that **** anymore. Give me the facts when they come out, that’s all I need to know. More interested with the opinions of the fans on here then the opinions of guys who just watch highlights.

If they go get McCarron, they won't be drafting a QB. He is the future if they are signing him. If they sign him they go with an older veteran backup with Peterman #3 If they don't pick up another late round project QB this year and let Peterman go.
They can't go into a season with a rookie, a guy with a couple games starting on his resume, and a guy who completed more passes to the other team then his own in half of a game...
They can sign McCarron and still draft a qB, there is no reason they can’t... It would also give them 2 possibilities for long term stability instead of just one. McCarron would get his shot first with smaller window to prove his worth

4 year college starter who spent time behind a quality NFL QB. Has showed alittle upside in his playing time in this league. May not be the answer, but he could be. And if we are drafting a QB we hope can be the answer, that’s two guys who show promise and one of them is ready to start week #1.... I don’t see the problem. They are gonna have to pay him a bit but it ain’t my money.
-
McCarron is a bit risky for that money, but other then Cousins who has the biggest upside in the FA QBs? Which one has possibility of giving us long time security? I’d say McCarron would edge Bridgewater right now after his injury. We can still draft a guy.
Drafting a bridge QB for a short period of time waiting on a draft pick gives us one option for long time security. McCarron and Bridgewater along with a draft pick give us two. At this point I don’t care the answer comes from, just want someone to step up so we can forget about this position for a few years.

Not so sure I agree. Even though I am very happy with the trade, I think Taylor and Landry are a good match. Time will tell.
You think one of Taylor WRs can average over 6 catches a game after watching him make poor decisions for 3 years? He’ll be lucky to get 100 targets let alone a 100 catches
-
Landry won’t be hitting the hundred receptions this season.

If Taylor is starting Landry production won’t match his pay cheque. Doesn’t seem like a guy who will keep his mouth shut if he ain’t getting targeted either.
-
People have him locked into Cleveland because of Hue, but a 1-31 team isn’t gonna attract a lot of guys who are getting interest from other teams.... McCarron will be one of those guys. He’s gonna get an opportunity to start for a better team and he’ll get a lot more praise for winning then losing. I doubt he picks Cleveland.

I remember seeing a stat before wentz got hurt and they compared all his numbers to foles and they were nearly identical. Just saying just because foles crapped out in la doesn’t mean he is a garbage qb.
A lot of QBs crapped out under Fisher

I know the very few of us who were interested in Foles on Bills message board got laughed at....
