They haven't been able to get passed the best team in the league. That doesn't mean the whole operation is a failure.

If not for some truly rotten injury luck I think they would have done so a couple times.

They have been trying to do it for how long? When the ***** are they gonna get it right? How many opportunities do we give them? At some point you gotta say enough is enough, this ain’t working and move on.

This place has been miserable AF since the draft. The worst it's been since 'Wrong Josh'.

Everyone wanted a Playstation for Christmas but when they came downstairs, there was a bike with socks and underwear. Instead of realizing that there's nothing wrong with a bike and we really needed new socks and gotch, it's tantrum time.

Are we going to have to endure this endless whining for the next 6 months? Sounds like a fun way to be a fan...

Last off-season people were losing their minds because they intended to run Spencer Brown back out there and they didn't sign a MLB. They said their guys were in house and they believed in their development. Seems to have worked out OK. That's what good teams do.

Can we not take a breath and wait and see? 2nd best record in the league over the last 5 years says they deserve at least a bit of confidence. They aren't the morons people want to make them out to be.

If your happy with just winning regular season games your good. A lot of us just think those wins don’t mean ***** if you can’t win in the playoffs

McDermott came out and said these guys are going to need to have greater roles than in the past.  Beane all but said Coleman starts.

You can tell there has been a change at OBD.  How it works out...who knows

Believe it when I see it. I’ve said this team is treading water for years. Name are changing but it’s the coaching staff with the same game time decisions will bring this team down. McD like his vets, he’ll give them the benefit of the doubt every time. That won’t change. If a rookie struggles he’ll be on a short leash. That won’t change

  4. People asking who is MVS gonna  take snaps from really gotta look back at last year. This staff had Hardy and Shitfield infront of Shakir. Why? Because those guys had more experience. What do you think is gonna happen to Coleman with MVS around? Staff seems clueless at times with the decisions they make based on practice reps. Kline over Williams in the playoffs. Peterman over Allen at one point. Peterman over anybody is really funny. I’m sure the ball boy could have done a better job. McKenzie was struggling and they wouldn’t give Shakir more snaps a couple years ago. Just so many brain dead mistakes

Who is MVS taking snaps away from that really should be getting snaps? Shakir, Samuel and Coleman should get their snaps in. Shorter is likely the only young player that is going to get snaps eaten into by MVS and I am fine with it as I think having a big speedy WR whose durable and experienced is a good add for a WR room that needs some veteran depth.

I’m gonna say Coleman. He’ll show potential but won’t hit his stride this year. Not with a big rotation of guys fighting for targets. McD likes his vets and is loyal to them even when they struggle. WR room starting to look like the dline room, a bunch of average guys and an early draft pick to spark hope in the fans.

We're talking about methodologies here.  The team's answer come playoff time has been let Allen do everything.

Anyone thinking that that MO is going to carry us through three or four playoff games to a Lombardi is delusional.  This just in, there are great coaches and teams in this league that can plan around that, ... as they've done to date.

It's a comparison between Brady and Dorsey.  Sorry, I hadn't realize that we had no dropped balls during Dorsey's time.

Y'all with the dropped balls.  It might make some sense sometime if you looked at all the dropped balls we had and the contexts that they were in.  Many were in games that we won.

Think what you want otherwise, but I won't be reduced to a single stat.  Feel free to be however.  :)

You’re talking about the KC playoff game. Allen was our best player on the field. His passing stats might not be great but there were 3 key drops that took about 150+ yards off the field. Dude can’t catch it himself. There are other players on the field ya know. Can’t blame the defense for being tired either because Allen controlled the clock most of the game, it was our D that sucked ass. I also think Cook dropped what would have been an easy TD pass, then Allen ran it in. Go figure

Actually, it can easily be a problem for any team.   At the end of the 2024 SB, the Chiefs' D was gassed and barely summoned up the energy for the next play.

Was it because KC was scoring to quickly? Because McD slowed Bills offense down after 1 drive against Bengals. Maybe he should figure out an answer to stopping them with our 11 defensive players instead of our 11 offensive players.

I considered that, but I was talking about regular season.  In the playoffs Allen typically shines and our D craps out.

But since you brought it up, our playoff game vs. Pittsburgh and a second-rate QB was hardly great, and their D in that game was without Watt, which is like our O being w/o Allen.

Either way, Allen's game vs. Pitt was very good but our D played poorly, again.  Pitt played better than their season average against us in Yards, Passing Yards, and 1st-Downs.  So there's that.

But in the KC game Allen played his worst playoff game since the 2019 & 2020 seasons, which feeds right into the argument that was made.  The only game worse after the 2020 season, Allen's breakout season, was the Cincy game last season.

The KC game was all but entirely predicated upon Allen's 12 carries for 72 and 2 TDs amidst a very pedestrian passing effort.  Is that what we want from our offense typically.  (rhetorical)

Factor those in if you like, but it makes little difference.

Can you say Allen’s passing effort was down during that game when WRs were dropping balls all over the field. I can count 3 big ones off the top of my head. And he did score the most points against KCs D throughout the playoffs which isn’t that bad. Problem was the D gave up the most against KC O through the playoffs

Is protecting the D a bad thing?    Playing D against teams that can make long scoring drives with regularity can wear a defense down if their own offense can't stay on the field long enough to give the defense a breather.   That's the problem with a quick strike offense -- the defense is always on the field.

With  the majority of the resources going to D over the years this should not be a problem. Especially when you have a defensive minded coach.

You have a QB that's a Maserati. He's built for bombs away. But instead of building your offense for that, you build it for plodding, 10 yards at a time max, 10 minute drive offense. So I ask, what is the point?

What's the point of having a guy who's designed by nature to bomb the football deep and whose weakness is dink and dunk stuck in an offensive scheme that is built to do just that?

Why not offload him for someone who's better suited for that kind of thing if you refuse to play to his strengths? That's what I can't wrap my head around. It makes no sense.

McD does this to protect his D. Remember the Bengals game last year when they come out in the no huddle and the easily walked down the field? After McDs D gave up its second TD he slowed the offense down so it wouldn’t become a shootout.

    All about protecting his D.

Davis was the 3rd or 4th WR after being drafted in 2020. He was developing into WR2 very nicely.

Slot WR was the position most in need of young talent. Beasley turned 31 in 2020. We had nothing behind him. Rondale Moore and Elijah Moore were the hot names in the 2021 draft. Both would’ve been excellent prospects to replace Beasley. They took Rousseau. They probably made the right pick there.

Before the 2022 season we felt very good about Diggs and Davis as WR1 and WR2 for now and the future. They needed a slot WR now with Beasley finished. They weren’t prepared to replace Beasley. There really wasn’t an opportunity to draft a slot WR early that year. Skyy Moore was talked about a lot in the 2nd. They could’ve traded up in the 2nd for Moore.  Instead they doubled down on edge. They did however draft Shakir that year, but they didn’t play him much. They went with McKenzie after Crowder went down.

In 2022 Davis failed to take a leap forward after his historic playoff game vs KC. His ankle injury definitely covered up his failure. Gave him an excuse. Bills were not aggressive enough to replace him or bring in competition. Instead, in the 2023 draft they took a TE to play in the slot. Still trying to find a slot WR, even though Shakir was here. They liked Shakir, but didn’t trust him yet. McKenzie was popular, maybe that was the reason he played over Shakir.

I think they wanted WR Addison but thought he might fall to them. I’m not sure if they saw Addison as a slot or an outside WR though. I don’t think they saw him as a Davis replacement. He was more like Diggs or a slot WR.

What I’m saying is I don’t think there was a real opportunity to draft a Davis replacement in the 1st or 2nd without a massive trade up.

They could’ve drafted a developmental guy in the middle rounds, but that probably doesn’t satisfy what people wanted.

2022 free agency was a possibility to add a legit WR. They gave Von $120 million. They definitely could’ve dipped into free agency to replace Davis but at that point he was coming off his historic playoff game. They likely would’ve signed Christian Kirk for the slot if they added a WR.

2023 was probably the best chance to replace Davis with a free agent WR. Hopkins was the opportunity. They didn’t do it for whatever reason.

I dont think Davis was a failed WR2. He did produce some decent numbers. I think the biggest failure at WR up until this year was how they handled slot WR.

In 2024 they need someone to step up at both outside spots and slot.  We’ll see what happens.

Shakir is in the exact same situation as Davis was 2 years. The only difference in this situation is we don’t have a legit #1 WR like we did two years ago. If this doesn’t work out it’s gonna be worse than the past 2 years.  The draft was heavy at WR and they took one. If Coleman has a slow transition this team is *****.

    Terrible management

Davis was a failed #2. He was super inconsistent despite having a few big games.

  12. Not even close. Beane gambling on Shakir handling a heavier workload  like he did with McKenzie and Davis. 😩

Then adds one WR in one of the best WR classes in years. 🤦

You can’t teach stupid. Can’t wait until him and McD are fired

  13. I think right now #1 is off the table. Let’s hope Shakir can step up and handle a bigger workload. Beane is an idiot. He put the same faith in McKenzie and Gabe, both were disappointments. He even doubled down on Gabe last year blaming his ankle injury the year before. Total neglect of the WR position at this point. ***** brutal.

"I had 10 picks---how was I supposed to focus on WR??"

Been an issue for 2 years now and we have a deep WR draft with lots of picks and he rolls the dice on a WR once. Brutal

Putting a lot of faith in Shakir to take a step forward. He done that with McKenzie and Gabe Davis (twice).  Let’s cross our fingers this one works. I like the Samuel pickup but still worry it doesn’t workout. Then you have rookie (just one of them) you’re also putting a lot of faith in.  Not sure what to expect at this point, glad we got Kincaid though.
