This game is not going to bode well for us.  The Cinci is back on track and they really dominated SF.  SF looked really bad against Cinci, and Purdy was a turnover machine.  This is going to be a really tough game Sunday night.  The Bills have to play error free and must force turnovers to win this game.

    Josh > Purdy

This fan base doesn’t deserve to win because we criticize a the team when they aren’t playing to their expectations?

Is this the level of sensitivity we are at now?

Now?  I remember on the radio talk shows with the Coach that when we’d win 17-14, it was like we lost or something.  The Mafia has always been engaged, even when they were just known as fans.

I hate to agree with you because I believe the Bills should focus on offense and not defense but in the here and now the D is hemorrhaging and we won't win many games no matter how well the O plays with this defense.  When you make Mac Jones look like Joe Burrow there are problems.  So yes, to save this season they'll need to sign a LB or DT.

Definitely need that DT.  Go Bills still! 🦬

I'd be more than content with Hopkins and a Defensive piece added before the deadline.

-Hopkins, because I think he's one of the few WR's potentially available that Allen will feel obligated to look his way.  I also like his contract for next year.

-And we need something on Defense.  I'd prefer a DT over LB, but maybe (wishful thinking) they believe they can get Daquan Jones back later in the season.

I can't imagine it would take more than a couple Day 3 picks we have stocked up to make these moves, unless the Defensive piece is something out of left field.

YES!  Someone’s about to be a former Bill and someone’s about to be new Bill!!

If my name were Terry Pegula, this is what I would do this offseason:

    Fire Sean McDermott

    Keep Brandon Beane

Hire Ben Johnson (you now have arguably the best young offensive mind in the league for Josh Allen's prime and you'll never have to worry about losing your offensive coordinator)

Then, if my name were Brandon Beane, this is what I would do:

Let go (via cut or trade) Von Miller, Tre'Davious White, and Jordan Poyer, taking all the bad cap medicine necessary (yes, I know it's a lot, but stick with me); possibly add Dawson Knox to this list if he's not excited about a backup role

Re-sign A.J. Epenesa and DaQuan Jones; let every other major free agent go, including Gabe Davis and Micah Hyde

Leverage your 10+ picks (probably even more after trades) to maneuver and get the best WR available, then heavily prioritize defensive line and offensive line picks

Fill in the gaps at non-premium positions in free agency.

Offense built around Allen, a dominant line, Cook, Diggs, Kincaid, and the future WR1 you drafted.

Defense built around a dominant line, Milano and Bernard, and a young secondary.

Bills are suddenly a young team but still scoring a lot of points and the future is looking exceptionally bright.

With the old guard gone, you can grow with your young team. You'll probably even make the playoffs in year 1. Allen is going to be reinvigorated.

Who knows, it might even go as well as it did for the Chiefs last year when they went with a youth movement.

I'm willing to bet my plan is better than what they will get by keeping McDermott.

Reminder: Sean McDermott traded Patrick Mahomes to the Chiefs before Brandon Beane got here.

    Other reminders:

Every coach/QB combo in NFL history that has won a Super Bowl has done so within their first 5 years together. McDermott and Allen are in year 6 and things seem to be falling apart. It seems that things have grown stale and a change is needed.

No player has ever won the Super Bowl with three different teams (Von Miller), unless you count Matt Millen who was inactive for his win with the Redskins.

I like the youth movement but Sean isn’t shown the door unless we lose more than we win;  even then, he prolly gets the injury pass. The OC might be the scape goat.

Your username points to the problem.  He is trying to play like Herbert and extend plays outside the pocket to throw downfield instead of taking off running when the opportunities are there. Herbert runs only as a last resort.  Last year Allen ran 70 more times than Herbert did.  This year they are equal. That's a major problem, IMO. Both for him and for the offense in general.

It's causing defenders to not respect that part of his game anymore and simply drop back to cover which means he has a bunch of green grass to run but instead tries to throw into tighter windows.

If he starts taking advantage of those green spaces again, it forces defenders to respect it and come up to stop him, thereby opening up those windows again. Literally that's all that he needs to do.

The other problem is the team isn't playing with any continuity as a team and playing "complimentary football".  When the D is making stops and getting the O the ball back in the first half, they can't do anything, and then when the O starts moving and scoring at will in the 2nd half, the D can't get any stops and allows long drives and the other team to eat time off the clock, lessening the opportunity for the Bills to score more points to pull away. In the last 9 "real possessions" in the 2nd halves of the last 3 games, the offense has 7 TDS, a missed FG and a turnover on downs after picking up 42 yards.  That's pretty good...no punts, mostly TDs.  The D needs to help them more by getting a 3 and out here or there instead of allowing 15 play 8.5 minute drives for points for the other team.

They need to start playing as a unit where the O helps the D and the D helps the O.

They can't handle the truth or handling the football.  Dropsies are killing us.  Instead of Herbert, JA17 ought to mimick Tua with 2.3 second release time, and the receivers should mimick Rice and Reed.  It would be great if this team could make the playoffs, but with the defense injuries, they no longer have the team to compete with KC and Baltimore.  At this point, I've adjusted my expectations to a WC.

  7. Yes, I believe they have the pieces, but we’ll have to score 30 plus each week.  Instead of ball control, the game plan is to get the ball into the hands of Kincaid and Cook early and often.  We need to see Josh’s cannon again.  A screen now and then would slow down the rush.

Allen has possibly the greatest combination of arm talent and size in a QB ever.  When he's on, he's unstoppable.  But he also seems prone to the jitters in high pressure situations or primetime games which causes him to make very bad decisions on the field.  Although his "deer-in-the-headlights" look has declined in frequency over the years, whenever it shows up I start drinking heavily.

Basically, if we played all of our games at 1pm on Sundays we would go 17-0.

Nerves happens to many HOF QBs.  I saw it in JK12 in the SBs.  Never saw it in Favre, Montana, Manning, and Mahomes.  Hopefully, JA17 gets beyond the jitters because that’s his Achilles heel.  However, I wouldn’t want any other QB playing today.

I had to watch this twice, after Collinsworth mentioned it to notice the jersey grab and then a third and fourth time to actually see and understand the grab limiting his arm usage. I think the refs didnt see it in real time like me because of the white gloves against the white jersey. Bills finally got a call, i'm ok with it!

Never noticed but do the DBs wear colored gloves to blend with opponents jerseys?

"God" is a man-made irrational belief ... McDermott's sermonizing and evangelism embarrasses the Bills organization, insults atheist Bills fans, and demonstrates McDermott to be a painfully ignorant human being, just more evidence he is ill-equipped intellectually to compete with the cream of the NFL coaching crop.  Last night's game was an abomination, means nothing that the Bills "won."  It was a disgraceful performance and that's on McDermott.

Bernie:  Would you say the following are irrational/ignorant:  Francis Collins, Charles Townes, Paul Ewert, Rosalind Picard, Jing Kong, William Newsome, etc.?

Milano didn’t look like an immediate steal. There were even reports out of camp saying fellow rookie Tanner Vallejo was having a more noticeable impact. Ramon Humber also started in front of Milano and Matt didn’t get his shot until Humber was later injured. Of course we know he took control of the position and never let go.

Williams definitely flashes more than Dodson and is certainly the more athletic player, so I’d be willing to take the lumps of him learning on the job, but I’m not so sure McD is willing. Dodson out snapped Dorian, shades of Ramon Humber.

Hope this is Dorians shot to be the man.  Go Bills!

Marino today talked about how in hindsight going to London on Thursday was a huge mistake.  Clearly the players were tired. And when fatigued technique and fundamentals get compromised and you end up w bad play and even worse injuries.

I agree with most who say it was a mistake, but I wonder if the players voted to stay with their families longer.  It sounds like having the players vote would be a McD kind of thing, since he’s a players coach.  Still a mistake.

McD played scared the entire game

He punted on 4th and 2 from our 43 down 11-0

As you mentioned he chose to punt rather than go for a 59 yard FG

It would be one thing if the defense was playing lights out, but we were getting gashed all game long.

He also wasted multiple timeouts on defense

Not many NFL coaches would’ve done otherwise.
