Quinnen Williams is definitely underpaid after playing great last season, but I bet the Jets will try to keep him on his current deal and franchise tag him next season.

The Jets have a bunch of overpaid guys like CJ Mosley, Corey Davis, and Duane Brown that will make it hard to resign any of their star players after adding Aaron Rodgers.

Pay Quinnen and trade ARod to Denver.  I mean this is the Jets.

I get what you are saying, and not saying Von is doomed.  But, an ACL tear is an ACL tear.  As far as Tre goes, not sure the meniscus had much to do with his delayed return and sub par play once he returned.  I had a meniscus surgery and went on a bar hopping bike ride for 18 miles just 20 days after surgery.

Totally get why you still see Von is elite based on last season, but if we are being honest, a lot of that was front loaded in the first part of the season.  Von only had 2 sacks and 9 tackles in his last 5 games before getting hurt.  Not sure I would refer to that stretch of 5 games as elite level production.  He certainly looked elite at times, especially earlier in the season.  But as the season wore on, his impact lessened and I remember some games where a lot of us were wondering why he wasn't showing up more.

So for me, its a lot to ask to expect any 34 year old DE to come back and still be consistently at an elite level over a season and playoffs.  To expect one coming off an ACL injury to be elite still at age 34 is an even bigger ask.  And to think he can get that injury in week 10 and then be back at an elite level to start the season feels like a stretch.

I am rooting for Von, so fingers crossed he beats the odds and can get back to being at an elite level for us this year.  But I definitely think bringing him along slow using PUP list and getting into form and having fresh legs ahead of playoffs is the better plan than trying to get him out there as soon as possible.

“… to start the season feels like a stretch” but thank goodness not a tear!!  Depending on who the first 6 games are, I bet he’ll be back if 3 are in the division.  They can rest him for the weak teams.

You are dug in on your interpretation, partly because it confirms a particular view of Beane. I think mine is more plausible, but this is not the sort of issue that resolves ordinarily. Folks aren't argued out of fundamental convictions. Paradigm shifts require something more. You're welcome to your views, of course. I just disagree with them. (And it should go without saying, but in the big picture this an utterly trivial matter.)

After we win 5 straight Lombardies and  there’s a movie about Beane entitled Bills Beane Ball, we’ll learn the truth.

Personally, I don't think there was much to bridge.  We lost too many guys last year, and with all of the emotion around Hamlin, we weren't the same team in the playoffs.

We beat KC at their place earlier in the season. Then the wheels kind of fell off.

But I'd say we improved more than our top competition this offseason.  The FA acquisitions and draft picks all make us tougher, more physical, more difficult to stop on offense.  We'll have a true running game for the 1st time since JA got here.  Miller & Hyde will be back, along with key defenders who were playing hurt at the end - Poyer, Phillips, Jones.

    Can't wait.

IF we bridge the injury gap then the good times will roll.  And IF we get some bully attitude we will steam roll!! Go Bills!

Let’s just worry about ourselves first hey?

If the Bills are playing close to their best like the start of the season last year… they should still be ok for the Division and a Championship run..

If they play like the second half of last season… then it won’t really matter what the Jets are doing …because that level of play isn’t doing much come the playoffs as we saw in January..

Level of play is usually associated with injuries.  Was there any team more affected by injuries than the Bills the past 2 years?  I would guess that teams that win the Lombardi have fewer injuries than the rest.  I know I am stating the obvious:  injuries can make a great team so-so.  Yes we should just worry about ourselves and worry that we have fewer injuries.  Law of averages should smile on us.  Go Bills!

yes, but of the coaches that took a long time to get the first ring...the QB they paired up with....they were never a duo more than 5 years.  That's my point here with McD and Allen...this is year 6 together.

Andy Ried didn't win his first SB until he'd been a head coach for like 20 years...but it was his 3rd season paired up with Mahomes.

The KC QB and Coach are a problem for JA17 and McD.  Since this is Masters week, it’s like Tiger was a problem/roadblock for other great golfers during his prime.  Phil, Duval, Westwood, Els, Garcia, etc., would’ve won more majors with no Tiger.

There are only 3 pathways to a bills Super Bowl victory

    1. Either Burrow or Mahomes gets an injury

    2. The Bills become a physical team like the Bengals

    3. The Bills keep their team the way it is but find a way to win it all with an offensive scheme like the chiefs did without Tyreek Hill

These 3 are not unpopular with me.  For #3, Cook has to be featured for quick outs and screen passes.  Hope he gains 15 lbs of muscle.

75% of it was Tom Brady covering up for all the deficiencies on the roster. Don't get me wrong, they had good players and good teams, but it wasn't often you looked at their roster and thought "Damn, this is the most talented roster in the NFL!"

Yes and we got the guy to do the same.  If JA17 learns to throw in 1.5 secs, we will win a few pretty trophies 🏆

It was a bitter loss and although it was "one game" it had a lasting effect because the team didn't have any other lopsided loses last season and it was a home playoff game under very high expectations for us and the players.

The fact that they had no other lopsided loses is a good sign.

The loss happened for a variety of reasons-

    1) Effort and execution.  The Bills had a decline in their emotional effort because of the reality of the events that happened in the previous game with Cincinnati. The game plan was off on both sides of the ball, players were straining for motivation and pressing while the Bengals were cool and calm professionals.

    2) Familiarity.  If the previous Bengals game had been completed, the Bills could have learned from that game and it would have been much closer.  Studying video is one thing but actual game time gets them much more familiar with each other.

    3) Roster match ups.  Of course out of balance roster match ups in critical positions had a big influence on the outcome.  Our OL vs, the Bengals DL is likely the worst case, with our coverage LBs and DBs vs. the Bengals WRs, RBs and TE (they really spread the ball around) was imbalanced as was our DL vs the Bengals OL in run stop and pass pressure.  Our defense had their worst game of the year and our run game was non existent.

The Bengals are now the target team to beat, much like the Titans were in '20 and '21 and of course the Chiefs.  The Bills responded well to those teams and their off season will now need to focus more on beating them from a roster and game plan perspective.  I have confidence they can do it.

Good points and I have confidence we will get better.  The reality is that Cincy, KC and Philly would’ve all embarrassed us.  Better to lose to Cincy which validated what we all knew:  we need to improve OL, WR, and RB.  We’ve got the best QB and I want to see him with a SB ring.

Edmunds was the centerpiece of the Leslie Frazier defensive scheme. Without Frazier, it's even harder to justify paying him that kind of coin.

I'm excited to see what's next for the Bills D, but it always Sucks to watch a blue-chip, freak athlete, team captain, quarterback of the defense just walk out the door for no compensation whatsoever. Especially at such a young age.

As Bills fans, I think we all know what's coming next - In Chicago, Edmunds blossoms into the greatest LB of his generation for the next ten years. Wins 3 titles and multiple DPOYs. Key to the city, free kielbasa for life.

And yummy deep dished pizza by the truck loads 🍕

    Well said.

Many here wanted to see a guy who could quickly diagnose a play, hit the right gap, shed blocks, and be a thumper. Nope.

Tremaine was more of a lanky safety that could cover a lot of ground, get in the way of passes, and prevent 5 yard plays from turning into 15-20 yard plays.

He was very good at reading and reacting to a QBs eyes, but guys like Mahomes could use their eyes to work him like a joystick to free up space in the secondary.

Good QBs we run into down the stretch can do that well.

This defense missed him when he was not on the field, but not enough that it would justify taking on a crippling salary.

We did not see the TFLs, the INTs, the FFs one would hope to see, but some of that was scheme, some just the way Tremaine played.

I felt he had improved each year, but the problem with drafting a player high for their upside, and investing years to realize that potential, is that the player simply cashes out once they turn the corner.

Not blaming him, it was the obvious move for Edmunds.

Loved that “worked him like a joystick.”  Prolly true for elite QBs,  but OCs had to game plan for him.  Hope he plays like $70 million.

  12. Maybe Diggs has burnt some bridges in locker room.  I can see him getting in guys faces about not being all in.  As a leader that works sometimes in private conversations, but you can’t show guys up in front of others.  If he’s done that more than a couple of times,  he’s now toxic.  If so, he needs to do some powerful repair work or move on.  Leaders must be respectful.  If he is traded it will be because he needs another new start.  I hope all my conjecture is false.
