I respectfully disagree.  Again, I reiterate - no athlete is worth that kind of money.  He's a decent QB, but, no.

The going rate is the going rate man.

If you dont pay...youll be paying about 6 million less for Kirk Cousin type QBs.

What are you going to draft franchise QBs every 5 years and rotate them out when its payday time?

Dont matter if its worth it or not. You have to pay.

I don't understand how you can even put last years and this years FA period in the same sentence? Bills were rubbing pennies together last year , by design , knowing this year they'd have a great deal of funds. They and we knew Bodine and Ducass were not long term answers. They went out this year and really did work on that OL and protecting Allen , setting him up for success.

I do agree that a move up is definitely possible , if Beane and Co fell in love with a top 5 pick , they definitely created the flexibility to move on up.  This is year 1 of Buffalo being a legit threat in the AFC for years to come , at Least in their minds I think , well mine too .

I only said that this year's FA is probably what they imagined they wanted last year. Thats all.

I don’t think he needs to be “RB1” or whatever. RBBC is the way to go. He’s more of a James White type. He’s actually more a hybrid slot WR than a RB. A really good player, would take him in a second

For whatever reason Hue refused to use him, it was egregious

I agree, but if you were Duke...what would you be looking for? A weapon role? or an RB1 role? Hes always thought he has not had a fair shake. My guess is he wants a real opportunity to play the RB1 role.

It is shocking to me how few people understand our dire need for a great running back or two.

With that kind of thinking, do our eyes deceive us?  Was our running game NOT one of the most profound weaknesses on this team last year,  a main reason the Bills were not better, with the only good running done by Allen?

Don't say it will all fixed with a better offensive line as we cannot rely on that--McCoy, a very good, sometimes great player as a Bill almost never looked good--and that is not an exaggeration. He looked done.  I hope that is not the case, both for his sake and the Bills, but we can only go by what we saw--and what we saw was no longer a starting caliber NFL running back, and, if we believe what we saw, not even a backup caliber running back.

The Bills best get a running back or two--and early in the draft--or this will very likely be a major reason the Bills don't succeed this year.  Almost no team can do well, especially one led by a young quarterback. without a solid running game.  It makes the passing game better, the defense better, and is even more important with our climate.

Good running backs are not, no matter the silly common knowledge now, a dime a dozen.  See: the 2018 Buffalo Bills .  The Bills can not this clear and present, even dire need, go unadressed.

Honestly...with how bad the run blocking was last year...I dont think any RB in todays NFL would have done any good.

I havent missed a game since 2001. Last year was the most visibly poor run blocking line ive seen in 18 years.

Do I think Shady will be Shady of 3 years ago? Nope...but its not worth upgrading him by overpaying a guy like Bell. Teams use RBs in groups. We can have a decent group.

With an upgraded line...our QB wont be leading the team in rushing.

"One finger" penalties never happens unless a ref just sees a guy flop and doesn't realize it's a flop. This will fix those situations. There might be some relatively soft penalties every once in awhile but that has always been the case. Defenders have always been allowed to have some amount of contact with players. Refs aren't going to be slowing the play down to see if a guy brushes up against the WR's sleeve and call that a penalty. Those types of plays likely won't even be challenged in the first place.

Of course they will. If I was Mcdermott and I just saw Josh throw the ball 60 yards down the field and there is any hint of PI...you immediately challenge. Youre looking at a 60 yard play.

There will be no consistency here...that will be another big issue.

Youre going to see two of the same exact plays happen in two different games and each ref will call it differently.

Well, you've said two different things there.  If we bring in more RBs then I wouldn't say that they have all that much confidence in what's here.

BTW, seems like they said the same thing last season about Ivory, he's gone now.

Otherwise, sorry, I didn't realize that if he was productive in Miami last year that he was a shoe-in to duplicate that performance here at the age of 36 behind an OL that frankly is only marginally better than the one you said was one of our worst run-blocking units in Bills history.

We'll see.  But I wouldn't bet much that Gore will average 4.6 ypc again, he averaged 3.8 in the three seasons prior to last year.  That's not lining up for better here.

Lets hope the line isnt only marginally better this year.....because not even zeus himself is getting 4.0 ypc.

Just one more sign that maybe McD/McBeane don't understand offense very well.

Shady's & Gore's past performances are irrelevant going into this season.  I'd be highly concerned if I were him about relying on a 31-year old RB that saw a significant diminishment in play last season coupled with a 36-year old RB being used to spell him.

I don't see that working out the way that McD apparently sees it working out.

In that case we can drop their age in the equation.

Ole Franky was very productive in Miami. He can still get ya 4 yards a carry and hes fantastic in blocking.

Shady may have looked slower...but lets be real. Our line last year may have been one of the worst run blocking units in Bills History. Im willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

ANDDDDD......you think we arent going to bring in about 4 or 5 other guys in for camp?
