  1. Honest question: what do people think Trump is looking for in a VP? Pence made sense for someone with as many moral challenges as Trump had back in 2016: get Mr. Religion on board to pacify the evangelical base. But Trump’s popularity ratings have essentially been the same for the last six years (they dipped at the end of his term but I think they’re back to about the same spot they always are). Few things seem to hurt him, few things seem capable of improving much over ~45%. Since it’s unlikely that the choice impacts his electoral fortunes much, what is it that he’s looking for?
  2. Feels like there should be a thread for Burgum since he’s currently the betting favorite…
  3. I'm sorry. There's no way you actually believe this is true, is there? Russian soldiers moving into Crimea, seizing control and orchestrating fake elections is hardly a counter revolution of the people...
  4. Seems like he probably did call Milwaukee a terrible city unless the first two GOPers are lying. But then I guess the third is lying? No matter how you slice it, at least one of them is lying. I’ll agree that the GOP response does show them to be lying liars who lie, but that’s been obvious for years.
  5. MAGA Choose You Adventure: A. He said it, but it was about elections B. He said it, but it was about crime C. He didn’t say it
  6. Only ever been there for lunch meetings, but I liked what I saw. Would like to spend more time there some day.
  7. It really seems like conservatives love being lied to. A lot of them just gobble up any lie that makes them feel good even if it can be debunked with just a minute of research. Biden tried to assassinate Trump. He pooped his pants. He wandered off at the G7. All of this is easily debunked, but that doesn’t matter. They want it to be true, so they believe it.
  8. Before my time. How was the kool aid?
  9. Seems like a totally normal dude…
  10. Honestly, I wasn’t shocked or surprised. The 5th Circuit has gone off the rails and James Ho is basically auditioning for a SCOTUS seat.
  11. Probably the most ridiculous standing argument I’ve seen in a long time. So mifepristone is safe… for now. I imagine we’ll see further challenges to it and if SCOTUS gets to the merits, the outcome might be different.
  12. Yeah, I voted Kasich in the primary and then Johnson in the general. Being in Illinois, it ultimately doesn't matter but I've since come to reject all third parties due to our first-past-the-post system. The only way to get out of this two-party mess is to replace the electoral system with one that makes other parties actually viable instead of spoiler effect astroturf operations by the major parties.
  13. Your Political Compass Economic Left/Right: -3.13 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.0 More towards Libertarian than I would have thought, but I did make a pit stop as a Libertarian after leaving the GOP before finally settling on the Dems (even voted for Gary Johnson for president - oops), so I guess that makes some sense.
  14. Just keep moving those goalposts to show your whole a$$ to everyone. You’ve gone from claiming there aren’t many videos of the war in Ukraine to claiming footage from the AP doesn’t count. Nobody who isn’t already drinking the Kool Aid is gonna buy your shtick.
  15. Do you believe all of the videos are fake? They are CGI or on a soundstage?
  16. Ah, so you’ve read articles that include videos of the war, you’ve seen videos of the war and yet your surprised there’s no videos of the war. And you expect anyone to take you seriously?
  17. You somehow managed to miss Sky, CNN, and others. Look, it’s fine to just admit that you don’t want to know anything about the war. Just don’t pretend that means it isn’t happening.
  18. I have no special knowledge of Putin’s goals, just what is publicly available. Which includes invading NATO countries because he believes most Americans are like you and will fold, allowing him to take what he can without existential repercussions.
  19. So you know better than everyone around Putin and you could convince people whose lives depend on him to kill him? You should sign up for the CIA because I’m sure they could use someone of your immeasurable talents.
  20. This obviously false belief is only possible due to a combination of poor US media, people encasing themselves in media bubbles that just cater to their own emotions, and simply not wanting to see it. Thankfully, I have recently discovered a super helpful tool to find videos of the war in Ukraine. I'll post just a sample here, but a heads up to everyone, some of these are decidedly NSFW. It's war and it's brutal. 21. I’m old enough to remember when Yevgeny Prigozhin, a close confidant of Putin, stood up because he felt that Putin was being ill-served by his advisors in the war. How did that go for Prigozhin?
  22. Ok, so now that you are dead. Will your replacement tell Putin that he can’t invade Estonia?
