It's not bleak to everyone. The team has a winning record. Probably won a game or two on pure emotion over talent levels. The coach and GM are rookies. Trying to find their way. My comment on sneaking in as the last wildcard then getting toasted in a road game ( yes it could happen). Is not something IMO I want to see.

I would rather wait and see what the new regime can do over the course of a couple of years. Does anyone think Peterman with Tolbert, Washington as a DT, etc. Will put fear in anyone in a playoff game? The board will meltdown. This is not remotely a team that can go deep in the playoffs. Isn't winning a Lombardi what long suffering fans really want? Or is simply getting in the playoffs good enough? Remember some predicted a 4-12 season. Lets get some players, fire a coach or two, and see these guys build a winner. Or watch them flame out like everyone before them. Then start over.

But this is a rebuilding year, missing the most important player a franchise QB. That guy is not on the roster IMO

The one thing I walked out of the stadium thinking after the Saints game was even if the Bills make the playoffs I hope Tyrod is gone after this season and we draft someone new. My great fear is they make the playoffs and say Tyrod is enough and don't pull the trigger even on a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I think the Bills are going to win.

It's just the ebb and flow of the season.

I'm expecting a strong response from Buffalo... but then I could easily see us getting blown out by KC.

I am generally in this camp. Where we are right now reminds me of after the Carolina game where the offense was just as putrid and then they got their sh*t together a bit. I understand peoples concerns on their edge rushes but their run D is rated like 3rd worst and I think that helps to neutralize them a bit. Also Tyrod's best game I've seen as a pro from him was that Broncos game after Carolina and Denver's pass rushers were just as fierce. So will see.

We cheer because we enjoy watching NFL football on Sundays and support our home town team. I understand

trying to stay positive, but lets face it, this is an inept organization, and now a no talent team, so as fans who

pay their money we have a right to comment.    Most of  us are realistic after seeing what went on the last two

games. To hear this coach get up in a press conference and say the bull that he did, is a insult to every person

who was in the stadium Sunday. We want better and are not getting it. Why don,t you watch Robert Woods,

Watkins and Goodwin score touchdowns again Sunday and if you don,t know the frustration, then your head

is in the sand. The national media makes jokes about this team asking if we have any more WRs to trade.

The fact is we don,t. Getting rid of the talent this year has to be the worst trades ever for us. We have a Coach

and GM not good enough to get those jobs elsewhere  and ownership who does not have a clue about

running a football team , much less a hockey team. There are too many records to list of NO team history

that were broke to even mention. Both the defense and offense are not NFL quality now, and do you enjoy hearing

jokes like-the streaker at New Era gained more yards than the Offense did?

I wished the Bills resigned Woods. I loved him as a blocker in the run game, thought he had a great work ethic, and he was a solid #2 WR to have. Strangely I miss him more then Sammy even though Sammy was better on deep routes which we need more for TY.

well, i know the exact post you're talking about. Maybe your response in that thread was enough. or are starting redundant threads because you are a unique and special snowflake?

Actually the question was posed because if you look at the stadium wall its as bleak all over as a team that is 0-9. I generally just was wondering others thought process because once the seasons is over in my eyes I may watch a little to pass the time but I'm done on here in regards to the team unless it has to due with the draft, FA, or the schedule.

For me, it's all about being realistic during the week. Come gametime, throw aside all logic and hope for the best, and sometimes eat tons of crow for things I said in preseason...only to regurgitate it come mid-season...and the hopes of eating more crow late-season. it's not logical. It's just choosing to use a brain till game time, then letting emotions have the day.

Haha I hear that. For Rex's two years I went to the Patriots game expecting a win because of the following reasons:

    -Rex has beaten the Pats

    -It was our time

-It has been 5 (then 6 ) years we are due for another win at home

-2015 the defense and offense is well balanced they aren't ready for us

-2016 well they won four in in a row and Miami was just a bad game we are ready to rebound

So yeaaaa my logic come gametime was gone. This season I am not going to the Pats game in Buffalo lol

  6. My question basically stems to this: After the last two weeks a lot of people have written the team off, some want Tyrod thrown into a volcano never to be seen again, others the coaching staff, and in general see absolutely no hope and have stated as much. Some are so down on the team they don't even care if the team makes the playoffs if they were to get smoked in the game. So I sincerely ask why do you still comment and care?

After the last two weeks I know things are pretty bleak right now but I am not writing off the game nor season until it happens. I am not saying either I don't think the Bills are flawed and have issues but I will at least want to see that happen rather then assume it and that is with 17 years of proof otherwise. I think if they make the playoffs it's still great even if they get beaten pretty badly because of the weight lifted off the franchise. To me being a fan comes down to going through the dark times (and yea they have been reallyyyy dark here) so when the good days do arrive it is that much more full filling of a feeling. I am not sure how many of you are or are not Sabre fans but the 05-06 season was my favorite because for those of us who went through the down seasons and bankruptcy it was the greatest surprise you could ever have expected as a fan. Unfortunately being 29 I have only a few sparse Bills playoff memories and good one's in general.

So again if your someone who has written the season and Chargers game off already or would rather the team just tank's to 5-11 I ask in general curiousness why do you still keep cheering, comment, or care in anyway?

IDK, slipping in the backdoor as a wildcard. And then go somewhere like KC and get thrashed 47-3. IMO I would rather see 18 years, than the pain of getting demolished on the road. Because this team will not host a WC game.

Sorry but this is just stupid. Making the playoffs is making the playoffs it removes an enormous weight off the franchise the moment it happens and you and everyone else on here would find a way to get excited because that is what we do as fans.

Had the drought have been broken even five years ago the focus of the franchise would've been far better at the big picture and there is no denying that the drought has forced the Bills to rush and make decision in the name of breaking the streak not building to win it all.

  8. Glass Half Full: They still are in playoff position, the D up until the previous two games was doing quite well against the run and stopping teams in the redzone, and the offense I think still can improve with Benjamin here Clay healthy and more time to gel. Plus at points this season Tyrod has played better then I have seen yet.

Glass Half Empty: Run defense has been gnashed two straight weeks, tackling has went from being sound to a tire fire, they have lose two winnable games to Cincy/Jets that now give zero room for error, the offense has been out of sync badly the last two weeks, and in general the way they laid down against the Jets/Saints and showed no amount of fight and heart is incredibly concerning. Additionally Taylor against the Saints was a tire fire of epic levels that is hard to come back from.

Whats Next? Well this game is pretty much it for playoff chances. Win and things still look favorable with Colts and Phins at home and a late road date in Miami who shouldn't be playing for much. Most importantly it gives the team some confidence which it seems to have really lost since the Matthews fumble in that Jets game. Lose and the idea of going 6-10 looks quite ominous, makes you pause on how much progress really had been made this year, and conjures up every memory of the last 17 years with a soul killing slide out of playoff position.

Winning team, promising franchise QB, top offense and yet the stadium is half full. They don't deserve a team and this is why they lost the team's before.

So I do know that LA actually has permission from the NFL that 20k in seats are not used. So if you watched the game yesterday you shouldve seen the top half empty on purpose because those are in the 20k not being sold. Not in complete defense of LA because I do think the fans are fair weather as heck, but they had major issues last year with the stadium in terms of concourse being over crowded, bathrooms over crowded and flowing, vendors running out of water etc... I do think that played a major role in why they limited the seats to 70k instead of 90k. That said I think even they knew 90k is hard in that market but will never admit to it.

Sorry but the best athletes in America will not be playing soccor

they will still be playing football and basketball

soccor has been the biggest youth sport in America for probably 20+ years. And the best athletes don't gravitate towards it

city children will always be more into basketball and football

Agreed. There is a reason why after 4th/5th grade kids stop playing soccer. They shift to Basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, or football. The US is far more diversified in terms of sports compared to other nations and our investment in the top 4 sports of Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey is far greater than any other nation in terms of how far you can go with college and even the pro's. If you don't think kids look at those sports as far more lucrative both star and money wise compared to the soccer and your wrong.

I can straight up tell you that I will try to have my child gravitate more towards Hockey, Football, Basketball, or an endurance sport like Swimming/Running before I have them go near soccer. It isn't a bad sport but I would rather they play one of those or start a rock band before soccer.

Soooo it's in a contract that certain stipulations apply to each case. Not to mention, Hardy was never convicted of a crime and you feel he should have been punished.  That's heelarryus

Your really missing the point here. A lot of people including myself find it utterly insane with the imbalance in suspensions across the board and after a while having your players routinely in the news for DV is really bad for your league. If your about to truly argue for a guy like Hardy just because court didn't find him guilty despite the pictures and numerous reports of multiple occasions idk what to tell ya bud.

Scanning the Bills Backers Chapter list, I noticed the new Duff's on West Henrietta Road is the official Rochester Bills Backers bar. I live pretty close by there, but haven't been in for a game yet. Anyone know what the atmosphere is like? Any other good places to catch the games in ROC? I figure most places will have a heavy Bills contingent just given our proximity to BUF. But most places I've been to during a game, Distillery, Tullys, etc, usually seem to have a mix of all sorts of teams.

The Brickwood at least for the night games has been very good to watch a game at. not sure about others I've always wanted to check around to see what other bars are like

    What is this assertion?

The fact Josh Gordon is suspended seasons for weed yet Josh Brown is suspended only 6 games Greg Hardy 1. Probably should've clarified this better but my point is the DV suspensions at points are laughable in terms of harshness but Brady was suspended more for some semi deflated footballs.

  14. I don't think football will ever go away just simply because kids in the innercity look at it as vehicle out of bad situations into good and football hotbeds like Florida Texas & California see no slowly. I think you will see though soon no tackling until at minimum 8th grade and all youth leagues switching to flag football styles.

I do think though football will probably plateau and have a dip like we are seeing. They killed the golden goose over the last 5 years between denying concussions, domestic violence suspensions that make zero sense, and player issues in general that they have allowed to the forefront. I think like MLB football will be popular and years when you have new exciting teams like the Astros or historic teams like the Cubs winning it will get more attention and boon. But years like this where soo much talent is injured and up top it still looks like a lot of the same teams people will tire and not care as much.

What was wrong with the bar stool?

Espn gave them a show, Ponder tweeted that she was disappointed they gave them a show and screen shotted some nasty sexist stuff they said about her 3 years ago. Then they tried to take her down by digging through her tweets and found some interesting stuff from 7 years ago. She then apologized but her and Sarah Spain got espn to cancel the Barstool show after 1 episode. Then they found more old tweets from Ponder and also from Spain that were nasty toward fellow female sports journalists and the hypocrisy meter was in overdrive.

I follow some barstool stuff and after seeing the episode I honestly didn't think it was anything bad compared to what they do on their site and in general for a 1 am show I thought it was pretty decent. I think they were better off hiring the two guys from barstool as "associates" and that would've severed the barstool ties content wise. I get the move on ESPN's part because Barstool can be quite crude in certain ways, but then why did you sign up in the first place.

Went to Miami for a road game in full Bills attire.  Expected to get treated like crap like the Bills fans treat fans of the other team.  Total opposite.  I could have run through the stadium giving the double finger salute and nobody would have done a thing.  Totally polite fans.  I actually wished they were a little more into the game.  It was a little too laid back. Unfortunately  Moron Mike Mularky couldn't hold on to a double digit lead in the 4th and we lost.

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/game?gameId=251204015

Yea same when we went last year. Stadium was 60% full half Bills fans right up until Ajayi had that big TD run. Then It filled up to about 85% capacity their fans actually cheered and I got very sad as we blew a 10 pt lead. I actually thought while the stadium is nice and the upgrades look good the concourse is frankly not as nice as the Ralph. Just my .02's

  17. Only been out of two to Miami and both times felt like a partial Bills home game with how many of our fans travel there. The Miami fans were actually really fun to hang with also though. Tailgating in November with Palm Tree's and 70 degree weather was a nice change to say the least. My wife went to the new Jets stadium when it opened and the fans she said were actually just boring in general nothing bad or good, probably the coolest thing was the fans throw paper airplanes all game haha.

Worst thing I have seen at the Ralph was the Ravens game in 2013. In the mens room two Ravens fans were leaving the stall and one of our dumb@ss fans knocked their beer out for no reason. I went over and gave them money for new beer which the mens room cheered for and booed our idiot, but still zero reason to literally knock someones drink in the bathroom no less just for wearing the wrong colors. I hated how it made us look.

Worst travel experience in general: Poland in 2016. Unknowing had some cheese that was unpasteurized for dinner (they dont do the same with dairy over there) the wife and I got food poisoning and were sick with everything coming out all night into morning. Had to go to Auschwitz that morning for the tour we had scheduled and we were still partially sick.

Someone mentioned how he's aged and looks like a regular Joe now. I'm sure the beating he took as a player, the worry and depression that was endured through the battle Hunter had and then the Cancer are the reasons. I look back on when he came to Buffalo fondly now but back then, I had mixed emotions. He was awesome as a Quarterback for most of his years and a Linebacker mentality for sure but as row_33 stated, he was a jerk. I mean, a really big jerk. Cocky, Arrogant, shouldering people out of the way to get to the bar kind of jerk. I remember being at a bar on the waterfront somewhere (The name escapes me) and he came in with former Bill and Co. Exec. Ed Rutkowski. I didn't see him coming and he gave me a shoulder spilling my drink all over my shirt. I was majorly P'd Off and started going after him. A bouncer grabbed me and told me to calm down or I was outta there. The best thing that could have happened because he likely would have pummeled me but Beer muscles were clouding my judgement. I left a short while later and hated him for a long time until by chance, I was snowmobiling and ran into him on the trails. By then, Hunter had been diagnosed and we both had matured, and he had become a much nicer person. I feel sorry for him in some ways now. I mean, yeah he has a lot of advantages that we will never have but I wouldn't wish the loss of a child or cancer on my worst enemy.

Well said. It's funny because I think outside of Buffalo most people just see Jim as a savior for team and city and as a great guy which he is now. But man if social media was around and the coverage is what it is now with how he use to be it would've been mayhem. Heck even the parties he had at his house with the team probably would've been criticized by people saying they didn't take the game seriously enough despite the fact it was acknowledged as a major comradely piece for the team.

It's so weird to talk about the blackout days kids these days have zero clue that some years you only saw 12-13 games tops.

I know I've heard that as many years as I've been following the Bills.  I would think it may be more because it's the Orginal home of the 12th man why this can be a tough place for visitors.  I mean we lost to Miami here last December.

Cold I would say not as much these days. A lot of former players say with today's technology they wish they had gloves or thermal wear that is as warming as what exists today.

Rain/Wind/Snow those absolutely because it takes a simple slip by a DB or a WR and its a TD in either direction. Same with fumbles etc....

For me I would say when the Bill beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.

However, every time I go to a game, my favorite moment is when I park my car and open my door and I'm hit with the smell of tailgating and the sound of Bills fans having a great time laughing and talking

    CBF

Tailgating comment is spot on. In late summer when I smell a BBQ I start thinking football. The noise, smell, and energy pre game is unrivaled.

Anywho in regards to memory team wise I am 29 so I have to go off what I actually remember not what I was alive for (otherwise anything from the 1990 season gives me chills). The Packers 2014 game takes the cake because it was a truly meaningful game in December against a great team that we actually beat. That was pretty special at the time and hanging out for an hour after to celebrate was surreal. The Panthers comeback by EJ in 2013 is an honorable mention that was pretty awesome at the time.

Give me 10 and I'll feel more secure.

Ten would feel very secure. But I am not expecting that because they would have to steal one of KC,NE, or NOLA and lets be honest its the Bills. Even when they break the drought (hopefully this year) its gonna be a heck of a ride where I am sure we need a little help.

  23. I think most of us Bills fans had this as a W before the season for the reasons you mentioned with the D being awful for NOLA and offense all on Brees. Obviously this is not the case now and I think it will also be close. I think the two major keys for either team involve the Saints RB's beating the Bills LB's in coverage and the Bills ability to run the ball. The Bills LB core has issues in coverage and if Brees can hit them out of the backfield BUF could have issues. On the other end of the ball BUF's O Line will want to right the wrongs of last week so I would expect a better effort there.

I'll say this also, the weather is calling for 40s and a snowy rain mix. Having been to many games in this weather even the best QB's have issues there so I wouldn't expect either team to necessarily being ripping passes deep all game. I would expect a game more 20-17 for whoever wins.

Time to quit living in the past. Yea, the last 17 years have sucked, and left many with a bad taste in their mouth, but let it go.

This team has a lot happening for them that teams of the last 17 year haven't. Try to take the time to be a little optimistic about our decent start. You may enjoy it.

You can't just tell people to just stop and let go of 17 years like a flip of a switch. There is a real mental and emotional toll during that time we have went to. How did you not sit there Thursday and have flashbacks to 2008/2011 when we got absolutely throttled by the Jets and went from feeling secure to the playoffs to having to look behind a little. Additionally some of the absolutely gut punching losses in just the past 5 years are hard to get out of your head when things go south. We have a trilogy of games already against KC alone that I wish i could throw into the Sun and never remember. The Tampa Bay game felt like so many we have had before where they blow a lead they shouldn't. But to the teams credit they rallied and I will give them that they seem potentially mentally tougher then previous groups. That still doesn't erase the holes they have though.

I'm over Thursday I still think they have a decent shot for the playoffs but I could also see them going to 8-8 or the dreaded 7-9. The only way any Bills fan starts overlooking disasters like Thursday is this team wins the next two and gets to 7-3 which we haven't been since 2000 or earlier. If that happens heck then maybe they could be NE at home. Personally I think they go 1-3 in this stretch but its enough so at 6-6 they have a real shot at the playoffs. Given my expectations for the year that would be some real progress.
