I mean, why is the idea of drafting character guys & leaders worthy of mockery?
I don't think they've sacrificed talent for that. And generally, SB winning teams are teams that have high character guys, and true leaders.

Yep.
Samuel looked return to form
Shakir trending up, clearly Beane believes in him more than a lot of the fans around here.
Mack Hollins is a fine #4
Shorter is an unknown at this point, hopefully can crack the roster and make an impact.
They likely add another Mack Hollins type to fill out the roster.
This with Kincaid, Knox, and a strong running game, is more than enough when you look at what Mahomes just won the whole thing with.
Great post.
It's great to have an elite WR corps. But the most successful team of the past 2+ decades NEVER did - with the exception of 1 year where they didn't win it all.
Allen doesn't necessarily need stars. He makes stars.

Beane is really focused on every need we have. Every pick so far has been very practical - no luxuries.

This guy has quite a story from what I've read. Inspiring.

He’s a good pick, but I’m not sure I love Beane’s draft strategy thus far. I would feel a lot more confident if we had doubled up on WR.
Maybe they have a veteran trade or Michael Thomas in mind.
This actual pick though is fine, he’ll be a good addition to the room.
I think we all want another WR - and I agree we'll get one, likely in FA or via trade.
But I like the strategy. Every pick is a need, and seems like a good fit. It's almost like we went in order of what our needs our from most pressing on down.

So, just confirming: a bunch of fans who hadn't even heard his name before 10 minutes ago hate the pick?

I like his reaction. He's the anti-Gilmore.

Beane is drafting like he has a lifelong contract with the Bills. We have so much need and RB is not one.
What other need?
I'd agree w/ need one more WR - but we're also in the 4th round here.....
-
Gotta believe that Beane has something in mind in terms of acquiring another vet WR. Which would be fine.
-
I was expecting RB this or next round - seems like a good complement to Cook.
I'm good.

Well I thought some of those 5ths would be packaged to move up in the 4th.
Now we haven't I hope we stand pat in the 5th and use all those selections rather than packaging two to move up. Just use most of them on offense and hope a couple hit for us
Might be better at this point. More bodies = more chances for success.

Looking at some of Coleman's catches - I bet he snags that 60-yarder that Diggs missed.

I don't know why some here think they know better.
There is simply no comparison between what scouts do & what anyone on here could possibly do in terms of research & sheer time put in looking at all of these prospects. Some who were criticizing the Coleman pick probably saw one youtube video of him, if that.

We have a total of ZERO legit threats on offense
I can see Kincaid having a breakout year, and we don't know what to expect out of Coleman. I wouldn't say zero.

Fair .. but this board also overwhelmingly hated the Boogie Basham pick and wanted Creed Humphrey, DK Metcalf and Trey Smith, to name a few. There are always the "hits" that the board has - I can give you that. But overall, no one here knows much. I hear people talk about their boards, and that's great, but there are hundreds of players out there, a ton of schools, thousands of hours of game film - maybe a few here put in the massive amount of time really needed, but for many, it's just checking mocks and highlight reels for a few weeks.
I just can't relate to the instant declarations of anything. Every draft, I give them the benefit of the doubt - because there is no doubt at all that they know more than I do.
-
Why do fans on this board think they know more than guys who live & breathe this stuff? I genuinely don't get that aspect of draft weekend.
And don't come back w/ "well, Cody Ford"....

I get the complaints to an extent - but we need D more than O at this point. We don't have depth at DT (or didn't until this pick).

Yet you like most others seem to love the pick.
So?
Are you going for some kind of "gotcha?" I view the draft the same every year. I know next to nothing. I look at a player, and if he has good attributes, I hope for the best.
I try not to be disparaging, but I think they guys who come on here and post "bust" or whatever right away are total clowns. They read a few mocks, watch some youtube, and think they know as much as guys who breathe this stuff every day, all day, 365 days a year.
You think Beane & the scouts missed the fact that he doesn't get "separation?" They obviously like some of his other skills much more.

None of you with rose colored glasses on don't know anything either. His best asset is he can catch. Big deal. He can't separate and lacks speed.
The difference is - I admit I don't know anything.

Trade up for Franklin, and no more offensive needs this year.

Didn't take long - I love the pick.
But, it feels like we still need a speedster. Get someone who can stretch the field.
