Zeppelin I-IV are their finest work. Houses of the Holy is OK, and it was all downhill after that.
Of the first four albums that form the backbone of their work, III is easily the weakest.
I guess that's why it tends to get passed over.
Please tell me you are kidding here... all downhill after Houses of the Holy? Why is this jewel of an album not in the mix?

I just love that, to quote Trace Atkins, country songs are "songs about me". I can directly relate to it, and just for that reason it's hard to beat.
Country also takes it for me because of Bluegrass, which I consider to be an extension of the genre. You add Bill Monroe, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs, amd Doc Watson to the country list and there's no list of Brits that tops it. Imo of course.
Where would you rate this one?
or, this one...

Who in the hell wants to live in a neighborhood... get 5 or more acres somewhere/anywheres and do your thing. The little stucco houses thing is a real drag down.

Agreed on both....My only tattoo is the VH with both my sons names like Eddie has with Wolfgang....Also love Aerosmith, Motley Crue , Steve Miller Band, Disturbed...etc...And Rush is in my top 5 bands...they are simply incredible....Some of the best shows I've ever seen....All 3 were extremely talented musicians....
Rush was my first concert ever, at the Aud 76... ticket $6.00. I still have the stub and its "readable" lol.
I love talking music and the best part of it is is that no one is right or wrong.
Steve Miller Band. The music in the Capitol days was superb, and Fly like an eagle was the last good thing this dude has done. Have seen him 3 times since then and every one of those concerts sucked. Completely sucked. Just horrible. At least the last time Joe Cocker played on the same bill, made it excellent.

When we lived in FL we had some friends in the music world. R&R HOF folks. It was interesting to get their takes on various artists. Who they loved, and who they hated. They LOVED Van Morrison. He “has soul”.
That's why Van is the man... Ireland's Joe Cocker...

For rock & roll, yeah. I'd give the edge to the UK over the US historically.
There's still a ton of great rock coming out of both countries. Many of you need to modernize your playlists.
Why not. The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, Gary Lewis and the Playboys...

Van Morrison should count a LOT more than just once.
I agree. Somehow the blues were left out of this:
Savoy Brown
John Mayall
Fleetwood Mac (the real one, not the bleating lamb stevie nicks ****)
Graham Bond Organization
ETC

I was looking at my music collection and, at least for my taste, the UK has giving us an incredible amount /quality of music...I can't think of any other country that comes close....
Beatles
Rolling Stones
Pink Floyd
The Who
Led Zep
Genesis/ Phil Collins/Peter Gabriel
Black Sabbath
Ozzy ( solo career )
Queen
David Bowie
The Kinks
The Clash
Radiohead
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
The Cult
Yes
Supertramp
Cold Play
Eric Clapton/ Yardbirds
Elton John
Sex Pistols
Jethro Tull
Motorhead
Deep Purple
The Cure
The Smiths
King Crimson
Oasis
Dire Straights
The Police/Sting
Whitesnake
The Animals
Emerson Lake and Palmer
.......there's probably a good 20 acts I didn't mention here....
The rest for me is obviously stuff from the USA, Australia, Canada etc....
Where does your music collection comes from mainly ?
Add Cream, Blind Faith, Renaissance and Traffic to the list... I would agree that the UK would win this with the exception of the San Francisco sound.
Quicksilver Messenger Service
Its a Beautiful Day
Grateful Dead
The Airplane
Mamas & Papa's
West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band
Big Brother and the Holding Company
ETC.

Those are all the past.
I'd put nivana against some **** def leppard put out and call it Nirvana every day of the week when it comes to rock music. And I loathe Nirvana
I'd put Weezer above duran duran and maybe definitely Leppard too
I like def leppard, too.
Similarly, I'd put a group like Boston against the average brittish band to ride the wave of others over during the rush. You really had a handful of those in the OP that were influential.
Of those, my favorite hands down is the cure.
Nirvana was a UK band... first album is interesting for sure: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana_(British_band)

Joni Mitchell~ Court and Spark

10 year old 40" Vizio in my computer room keeps chugging along. Granted it doesn't get much use outside of football and hockey season
7 year old 55" Vizio in my living room still works like a champ
1 year old 32" TCL in my bedroom have had no problems in the limited time I've had it, other than the remote goes thru batteries much faster than my other TVs
I have one of these and it is by far the best picture out there imo. Not sure why it is using up your batteries fast... going on a year and have the same ones when I bought it.

I think that's a cop out. No offense.
What's really the difference? 10k a year... @ the very VERY most? That's really a game changer?
You get what you pay for... And if everything you enjoy is there, you aren't willing to fork out a little more? I find it hard to believe you can't put a price on that OR if you do, it's so low/cheap.
What #s are we talking here that are back breaking?
Not a cop out really... different people have different budgets and agenda's. He isn't kidding on the taxes... they are insane, especially for property owners. Get some land, throw 20 cows on it and you might be alright. I'm more thinking just rent something up there for 5 months and call it a win.

Theme parks never get old. The rush you get riding a roller coaster is one of the best things. The only good thing good about winter and fall is hockey.
Have you ever been to Florida though?

Since I live in Canada its hard for me to move to a warmer climate. Believe me if I could I would move to Florida in an instant. I hate cold and snow. I am so amazed at how many people seem to hate the heat but love the cold.
Besides there is lot more things to do in the warmer weather then in the depths of winter. You can't go to parks like Cedar Point in the winter.
Have you ever Been to Florida? Theme parks get old, just like the beach and you can't ride snowmobiles on sand. Flat as a pancake and boring as !@#$. Thank God football season is right around the bend.

Lakeland? Or Plant City?
I used to have a house on 3 acres in Plant City... loved it but it was too far from work after awhile. Now in the Brandon/Riverview area. You probably live an hour away.

I love South Dakota. We've often thought about moving there. It is a beautiful, no income tax state. The winters though...we'd have to buy another Florida condo.
Did you mean a no state tax state?
What you said is still another possibility, the snow bird thing. We have a condo in Tampa... her niece stays in it for now, and a house on 1/2 an acre 20 minutes east of there. I have thought a lot about this too, I Really want to get back to WNY but I don't want to pay the crazy taxes NYS imposes on everyone.
I appreciate everyone's input, a lot of us will be trying to figure out the same thing at some point in time... not all, but quite a few.
Oh, and no to Arizona lol... don't need 107 kind of heat.

What rationale did the show offer for ranking South Dakota number one?
It was on the cbs nightly news... low taxes, cost of homes, ease of living. Don't know how they came up with this but they did. Shoot them, not me lol...

Have you considered Delaware? They have tax breaks for retirees.
I know zilch about Delaware... any info?
Might be looking from NC to Penn... or, buying somewhere in Wyoming county and just leasing it out to someone who wants to put some cows on it, hence lower taxes.
Early stages here but all opinions are for sure welcomed...

Is your pop in Fla or WNY? I know Florida gets nailed with mega T-Storms...when we get a front moving in up here,my back screams at me. I always thought a very warm climate was good for arthritis,I don't find that to be true at all...each body is different. Also,I took the turmeric route before, without much success.Just maybe my intake was too low...(sprinkled on eggs mostly).I am currently putting 50 mg's of CBD oil under my tongue twice a day now...some days I feel like a rock star..other days I feel like I want to kill somebody. I think the best climate for a person in my condition would be a place like San Diego...I was stationed there when I was in the service...I know a cat that retired there...he's pain free at the age of 71.
Georgia now... eats a **** ton of blueberries too, guess its the genes.

recntly watched a show that said that South Dakota was the best place and New York was the worst.
Live in Florida now, have since the 80's but grew up in WNY. No way we are going to stay here on a permanent basis but there is no state tax so that is a big consideration. I would love to live back in WNY but the taxes are killers... horrible. Anyone here done the snow bird thing? Keep a residence down here and live/rent back home for 5 months out of the year?
Not happening right now but I'm at the edge as my property value keeps going up where I'm at.

I know it could happen at any restaurant (especially a fast food joint), but my wife and I had....ummm, “an event” of biblical whooshing proportions after we had Popeye’s on a Clemson football Saturday. There are not a lot of bathrooms in Clemson, and far fewer between Clemson and actual civilization. It was a day we wish we could forget.
So That's why C.J. stunk it up in Buffalo... case closed.

Met a guy from Alden this morning at the Publix across the street... he had a Fredex t-shirt on, was down here (FL) visiting family. This time of year I'll run into a Bills fan a few times a week but once the regular season starts its every day, pretty cool club we belong to... I enjoy the back home/Bills conversations. All it takes is the logo and its an immediate connection.
