If that's the case, I feel really bad for the guy.  Always, always swim parallel to the shore until you can break yourself loose.  Never fight the current.

That is of course is taught and is best thing to give one the best chance to survive, but could still not work sometimes

I think we need to continue to be pass first offense.  Quick passes a la Montana would be unstoppable and take pressure off JA17.  Put it in Cooks hands 15 times, but 75% passing will keep the chains moving.  Go over the top 5 times per game.  There shouldn’t be any games where we don’t put up 30 points.

Why wouldn't it continue to be pass first offense? I don't see that changing anytime soon

Fumbles. 8 freaking fumbles last year. I would like to see JA break his own record of 4 or less fumbles this year. (I think we can all agree with this)

Find the open player faster while in the pocket. I think this can get achieved do to a better O'Line. Last year Josh got a little jumpy in there because the lack of trust on the line.

Poise. I do not need to see him have Joe Burrow Poise,,, But I think we can all see he loses it in his head from time to time

A better VOCAL LEADER on this team. LOOK... lol... i do not doubt JA is a good leader, BUUUUUUUUUUUT ... lol... when that RT or that LG breaks down over and over I want to see Josh in their faces on that sideline.

Yeah for sure he has to protect the ball a bit better and work on the fumbles. I tend to agree about finding certain players that may be open on some of those shorter routes etc and also just his overall decision making at times could be better....

But I think it mostly begins with Oline improvement (as you mentioned) with better protection and allowing a little more time in certain situations than he's had up til now, that likely would be one of the biggest factors needed for improvement in that area.

Actually agree with this… and I think Beane will be proven wrong for the 2nd straight year with respect to receiving options for Josh.

I do think the slot position will be better and have better depth compared to last season...in which case could help the other areas to an extent

Elam looked good down the stretch.  He should have started all year.  Obviously from Beane's PC, Elam wasn't doing something that followed the process, thus not dressing him one game.  He was better than White down the stretch.

Good point on Cook.  I don't think he was used well at all. Daboll and Dorsey have been horrible at the screen game and getting the backs involved in the passing game much at all.

Spending big money does not guarantee results.  Bills are not the only team to spend big in free agency and not see the results.  Bears will soon regret the big contract they just gave to Edmunds.

Agree with you regarding Elam. He definitely performed much better  last few games and I don't see how anyone would disagree.

As for the screen game and Cook etc, It baffles me and kinda pisses me off sometimes really that it's now been (what is it about 4 years now?) and still can't get any kind of screen game going at all basically. I mean even some of the worst teams can manage to get somewhat near average success at times.

    Anyways, it's frustrating lol

Not picking a fight,  but this is the same thing fans did last year when talking about the WR corps… and were proven very wrong… yea…. who could’ve predicted a Crowder injury considering his most recent history? 😅

This team needs a #2 WR… not some depth signings with questionable NFL pedigrees…. They are relying on inconsistent Davis to really improve and rookie Kincaid to take the league by storm. I’m dubious, but tis the season for fans to overrate the off-season acquisitions.🍻

I understand where you're coming from here and see your point. But how do you feel about the WR position now compared to last season? Do you feel at least a small improvement or about the same or worse?

I think you're greatly downplaying how much of a reduction he'd have if Hopkins were on the field at the same time, as well as Kincaid in the slot. Quite a big difference between Davis and McKenzie as far as talent goes.

Not to mention, I think everyone is greatly underestimating Deonte Harty. Beane didn't sign him on Day 1 of Free Agency to a multi year deal and outbid other teams for his services for him not to be used.

I would think it'd be a bit less than you're assuming here in amount of reduction he'd have. I'd say it probably wouldn't get to point of a major issue (especially scoring a lot).

And have heard quite often it's no big deal to Diggs because he just wants to win

    Another myth

Trents best career game was the game back after the concussion

He was a limited quarterback got exposed

Agree, one of those that start off good first part of season and got figured out fairly quickly

I believe that he was solid against the Chargers, but maybe after all these years my memories have faded?

Still, it was all downhill from there.

Yeah, I'm not implying the concussion didn't factor at all, just that it was more to it

i really thought trent edwards would be the solution for our qb woes after that first drive against the pats.  i was very, very wrong.  i also didn't want josh allen, but i feel like that's 95% of most bills fans.

Many believe the (AZ game I think) when Edwards got his head rocked was the reason for his downfall. Although I believed it was more to it than that myself.

Josh Allen is terrible and the Bills should draft Rosen.

Far and away my worst take ever. Without reading the thread, I bet this is the most popular one

I know there were rather many here that shared those same feelings at that time. I was one of those who didn't have much of a problem with it. I was in the Baker crowd unfortunately (not as bad as Rosen at least).

But when the pick ended up Allen I was fine with it since he had the arm strength and his size, so I thought he would have a chance to be good for Buffalo

Foster is a good one. I don't know if they've been mentioned yet in this thread but what about PS heroes Duke Williams and Gibran Hamdan ? There was so much hype on here about those guys over the years.

For me it was probably JP Losman. I spent years thinking he was the guy and just needed better coaching / O Line.

And of courses the 2018 draft I wanted:

    1a) Baker Mayfield

    1b) Sam Darnold

    3) Josh Rosen

    4) Josh Allen

N/A) Lamar Jackson - I never even considered that we would draft him as a QB so didn't have him in my rankings.

I could not have been more wrong on that QB class

I don't recall much hype regarding Hamdan if any at all. As for Duke Williams it was a few that were a bit too high on him and felt he was better than he actually was. I guess it's not much difference with those reactions between he and Foster.

I have a Korean mom and the word sweet is not how I would describe her.  Have you ever been beaten with a Pert Plus bottle?

Lol, if a Pert Plus bottle had ever been what was used during my beatings I would have considered that a win. Pert Plus bottle would have been welcomed lol

Yeah, it seemed like Elam solidified moreso by the end of the season.  Benford is the real question mark to me, as in where they will play him this season.

Also, please never change your avatar

Agree with you regarding Elam, as for Benford I think he will play in the same way he was. I don't see him getting moved unless it's an absolute emergency and not much choice. He had an encouraging rookie year and is learning the position still. I just think they wouldn't put him somewhere else this early that he has to learn until seeing more of what he can do in the position he's at.

And I don't plan on changing the avatar lol

Fair. White was a shell of himself when he returned. Elam was benched or starting on any given Sunday. It’s become clear Jackson isn’t fit for a featured role. Upside signings like this can only benefit the roster at this point.

Yeah he got pulled around somewhere about mid season or so I think it may have been, but I don't know how you felt about him toward last of season, to me he looked as if he improved quite well

When they passed on him in that 3rd round in favour of Moss my immediate thought was length, because as you say there were lots of dots to connect the Bills to him and his style of play is a fit. But for a guy 6ft2 he has short arms - sub 31". We know how much the Bills value arm length as a trait in their corners. Later that night however Beane gushed about Zack Moss and said he had to sit on his hands to avoid trading UP to pick him (imagine how 🤢 that would have been). So maybe that was not a significant factor, and interesting that they have brought him in. Do we know what he signed for in Washington? Odd that all he could get on the open market is bare vet minimum and if the Commanders gave him more than that then why did they cut him so quickly?

Maybe their 1st round pick CB Forbes may have a little to do with cutting him?

    Pretty cool.

Even for those that don't play Madden or care about the game at all, Allen being chosen as the cover athlete cements what we all know: Josh is a superstar, the Bills are a relevant team, and their days as an NFL laughingstock are in the past as long as #17 is under center.

Yeah it's been about 10 yrs (maybe more) I'd say since I purchased a Madden game. That said, I definitely will get this one just to collect. Won't even open it
