MG led the league in multiple categories and efficiency metrics like dvoa etc. He wasn t near the top, he was the top. Obviously BB was impressed. I know that. My point was his ypc and td% was the same.

I get that. McCoy is a special talent, I think the extension was unnecessary and is the reason they are not keeping MG. MG led the league in multiple measurements and if it was that easy McCoy would have led some of those. Lets not pretend that Gillislies production was just a fluke. He produced at the same pace in 2015. Maybe the system here helped him thrive but the guy has done nothing but produce and the best coach in the game wants him as a #1.

3rd or 4th down and 5+ yrds to go MG leads the league over last 2 seasons and not even close. Converted 14 of 17 such attempts. Led the league in yrds per carry, td %, 3rd conversion %, etc. Lot of rbs in the league, one guy led those categories. Explain it any way you want but it is the truth.

Among NFL running backs with a qualifying number of carries, Gillislee led the league in yards per rush (5.71), rushes per touchdown (12.6), first-down rate on rushes (38.6 percent) and third-down conversion rate on rushes (75 percent). Only one person led the entire league in all those categories. It was just random luck and anybody could have done it. A lot of running backs in the NFL but one guy led the league in all those categories. No big deal, he is a 5th round backup. Dime a dozen. What absolute fools the Patriots are.

Unfortunately the bottom line is the Bills have very little cap space left as things stand. I disagree that he will be easily replaced or anyone would be that good in that offense, but I don't expect they will be able to keep him.

Interesting stat, MG converted 3rd/4rth down carries with 5+ yds to go more than any back in the nfl over last two seasons. 14 of 17 such attempts for a ridiculous success rate of over 82%. Amazing how many people think you can just easily find good running backs late in the draft, undrafted, on the street corner, etc. This guy was one of the most efficient runners in the league last year according to multiple analytic sites. McCoy is a year older and will certainly need plays off or games off if he can't stay healthy.

Brady was a 6th round comp pick himself, so I think they did use the system to get ahead.

Good news. I think he was great filling in last year and has versatility. Can't do much without a solid line.

He gave up just one score all season and wasn’t beaten for a catch longer than 24 yards across 754 snaps of play. Newman allowed a total of 31 yards after the catch all season, and though he only had one interception, he broke up five more passes and allowed just 51.8 percent of targets to be caught. He is still playing at an incredibly high level, but at his age teams won’t want to commit to anything longer than a one-year deal. At 38 yrs old this guy led the league in yds per coverage snap and only allowed 31 total yds after catch and 1 td all year! Wow, that is hard to believe.

If the Bills don't get picks for Gilmore and Woods then yes, they did it wrong. Obviously it is too early to tell. 3rd and 4th round picks are valuable and also tradable now, so pretending it doesn't matter is naive. I don't know the numbers but I don't recall the Bills getting very many of them in the last 5 years. I sense that this subject has been kicked around here before.

Signing Tyrod does not prevent the Bills from drafting a qb and for all anyone knows at this point, Mahomes and Kelly might be the best pro qbs in this class.

I would be in favor of trading back for another 2nd and a 4th if at all possible. If not, a day 1 starter at wr or secondary would be my preference.

Yep, I figure he is the qb for at least two years because of the 8 mil dead cap next year. With the decision to keep him, this is much better than the original extension. Now the Bills need serious wr and secondary help.
