The Division is still ours. It will still be ours. The FO is NOT preparing for a down season like some folks think. We are absolutely competing for the Division and a Championship.

I expect we'll be in contention for the division, but the offseason moves and our draft is being played face-up. We're in no way trying to win a  championship this year. I'm actually ok with that as long as there's a solid medium term vision. That's the part I have concerns about, especially if it includes McDermott, which it almost certainly does. I don't have any faith in our coaching on either side of the ball.

Those players were either injured or on the downswing, not including Diggs. They could've kept him and actually still could add a #1 WR and keep the window open, but I doubt it will happen.

That may be true, but you don't replace all of that with rookies in one offseason. Last year's version of Jordan Poyer will likely be better than any safety drafted in the 4th+ round this year. Same thing with all the others.

They're in a superbowl window without a starter at a premium position

They're definitely not in a super bowl window, but a lot of folks are lying to themselves. You don't lose 6 starters including 5 captains and stay in a Super Bowl window.

If this draft pans out, a new window could open in 2025, but my money is on 2026.

Do the Bills take Rattler in the 5th as a backup QB? They did it with Fromm and I'll be honest Rattler is a much much better prospect than Fromm

I'd like it but not sure they'd cut Mitch and less sure they'd keep a roster spot for a 3rd QB. I wish the NFL would give teams a spot for a #3 QB. I think it would make the league way better if teams could earnestly develop reserve quarterbacks.

Diggs caught 3 of 8 targets against the Chiefs. You wanted to see more drops?

You know that just because a receiver didn't catch a target doesn't mean it was a drop, right? He dropped 2 passes on 17 targets in the 2023 postseason and 8 on 160 targets int he regular season. If you want to compare Diggs drops to Allen's Bad Pass  percentage, you might be surprised.

    Mack Hollins is our WR4

Weve got people asking “what happens if Cook gets hurt” when we just had Allen throwing to IDGAF Diggs and JAG Sherfield in the Playoffs.

Too bad he didn't throw to Diggs a little more. Maybe he would have led us to Conference championship instead of another Pro-am.

Also, Mack Hollins is a completely serviceable WR4, especially when you have Kincaid and Knox. He'll be the 6th passing option most likley

More than WR?  C'mon man.  We got nobody to throw the ball to.

did we not draft a WR with our first pick? Any WR you draft here is going to be #4 on the depth chart best case scenario and the #6 or #7 option in the passing game.

I expect they might take a late round flier on a guy, but if they don't there are plenty of FAs available if they decide we need a player there (i don't think we do though.

I genuinely hate the KC comparison. We don't have one of the greatest offensive minds in history developing our offense. At least KC had Kelce who admittedly is on the tail end of his career but still draws a lot of attention from opposing defenses. I don't see anyone on our roster doing that right now.

You think Shakir will be a 1,000 yard receiver? Because that's top 30 WR territory. Id be surprised if that were to happen.

I think there's going to be a lot of growing pains on offense now that we're putting a lot of pressure on young players to pick up the slack left behind.

I sure do. He seems to have greatly enhanced his surehandedness, he has a knack for getting open and plays physical. If he's schemed as a #1/#2 type guy I don't see any reason he won't hit 1000 yards.

Admittedly I had no idea who he was until we drafted him, but then I started reading about him and watching him at Boise and I couldn't really understand why he fell so far. Kinda seemed like a 2nd/3rd round kinda prospect to me. The types of weaknesses in his draft scouting are the kinds of things you see all the time from guys that are picked late and turn into really good players.

    Game changing players aren't needed?

Where would we be if we didn't trade for Diggs and instead relied on John Brown, Beasley and Gabe to be our top 3 WRs? We are worse than that right now.

I think there's a difference between game changing players and super stars when it comes to WRs. KC just won back to back Super Bowls with Kelce and a pile of JAGs.

Shakir and Kincaid changed the game plenty last year with big plays. So did Cook. If Shakir can scale his production across more volume, Kincaid continues his progression, and Samuel hits career average numbers, we shouldn't have any issue with having enough receiving weapons to get the ball to, especially when you toss in Cook, Knox, the rookie, and a potential for Shorter to do something.

FWIW I'ma  big believer in Shakir. I think he'll post top 30 WR numbers. I also think Kincaid will. If Coleman can be good for 600-700 and Samuel around the same, I think we'll be in a decent spot.

Could we still use another guy? Sure, most teams could. It'll only be a problem if we start suffering injuries.

The game will soon be unrecognizable with rule changes and schedule expansion. Park avenue seems to have lost sight of the fact that what made the NFL successful was that every game was meaningful.

The health dangers of football will eventually turn the sport into boxing where only the very poor or desperate will take part. Aaron Donald's retiring in his prime is instructive.

What will become of the blue collar fan bases like ours when the only way to get a seat will be with a PSL? Attending a game is already becoming a fashion show for the rich. And what of the culture of tailgating and super fans? The fun of the fans is what has made the gameday experience meaningful for a long time now.

That sports will collapse under the weight of gambling related corruption is inevitable. Only then will we realize that greed can destroy everything we hold dear.

Unfortunately football is not exempt from the pursuit of the dollar above all else that plagues just about every facet of our lives. This was always the inevitable outcome as it is with all things that are highly successful.

  11. It is about next year - but that means getting talent this year to be ready. We're replacing 7 important pieces on our team this year. Hopefully next year that number is 2-3, and hopefully we aren't depending on the draft for immediate impact starters.

This year is just about getting the next generation of guys up to speed while we eat a bunch of bad contracts and hopefully keeping a winning culture going.
