  1. Just to be clear, I am not one of those who think negative about every single thing that OBD those.

    But...

In order to have 16m in Cap Space:

    1. Lost Gilmore in FA

    2. Cut A. Williams and Cory Graham (our starting S on paper at least)

    3. Lost Robert Woods and Goodwin in FA (Our No. 2 and 3 WR)

    4. Lost Brown in FA (Our starting LB)

    5. We don´t have a Franchise caliber CONTRACT at QB 20M+

We can go on and on... the fact is that the Bills are not a well run organization because we change coaches every 2-3 years and we need to adapt again and agian and again.

With a better FO the Bills would have had continuity and probably made the playoffs a couple of times already.

As someone said before me, Ravens won 2 super bowls since the bills played a playoff game.

Solid reply. #1 and #5 was all I was going to answer with. in hindsight after letting Gilmore go we look great on paper with no Franchise QB contract. Again, we let a 1st rd pick go only to waste another 1st rd pick on a CB due to cap trouble. the circle goes on and on. At least we landed a extra 1st rd pick next year.

  2. They need somebody. We certainly can't keep him.

3 1sts ain't so bad when we have an extra 1 already.

3 -- 1st round picks for a QB that might (if that) have 3 years left in his career is 100% a horrible move. If we were talking Rivers in his late 20's then maybe. If your going to go ballz out for a QB like that, make it someone who will play for 10 years at least. The only guy that is reasonable to that metric is Cousins whom Washington does not know what they have, they are still mentally broken from RG3 or something.

  3. They wouldn't be wrong though. The Pats have won titles without Gronk on the field. He is unstoppable when he's on the field, but lets say he played for Buffalo. Would he help us win playoff games? Probably not because he'd be on the sideline. Playing on the Pats earns a lot of guys a free pass for their shortcomings.

And it truly shows how important Brady is. Do you think any Pats fan wants him gone? I highly doubt it due to the impact of when he is on the field when healthy. See Watkins on this site... We would treat Gronk the same way here due to our inefficiency still at the QB position.

  4. From everything I hear about Phillip Rivers, he would probably retire before coming to the Northeast. Especially Buffalo.

Most likely and him turning 36 years old this year does not help the cause for Buffalo to reach out. He already struggles with the same mess of a team that the Bills do.

Under Marrone and our top 5 D a few years back it would have been perfect to have him to replace Rico.

Now, not so much and not worth the high price it would cost to acquire a rental franchise guy for a couple years.

We need to find our own shiny toy.

  5. The hate for Brady is >>>>>>>>>>>than the hate for Gronk....and I don't think it's even close...... if he has a good season this year, he could end up with some of the all time records for TEs....despite having missed many , many games....he's an absolute beast and he's funny/goofy....

This post is spot on to my feelings as well.

Imagine all the trade idiots on this board if Gronk played for us with the amount of time he has missed due to numerous injuries.

  6. Found a mint newspaper paper from 2005, here is the top story, Friday 10/7/05

Good gravy, what a mess! How far we've come(?).

Bonus points, the paper was in a Wilson Farms bag. RIP Willys!

Agree it was and still is :(

    Man I missed Moulds....

What a wasted talent Moulds was. First ballot HOF'er with the right QB through his career.

  7. For me post Wade/Flutie it died out knowing we needed (and still need) a franchise QB to be great again. or at least a perennial playoff team. Bledsoe gave me hopes slightly post Wade but I knew his statue ass was not the answer.

Here we are still needing the same and still not making the playoffs since.... :(

Imagine someday we do get back to the playoffs and win a home game? The fans will be ripping seats out of the stadium and selling goal post pieces on EBAY. I honestly have no idea how fans will react to a winning team. If we ever win the Super Bowl I'm sure the National Guard will have to come to WNY though.

  8.

I honestly don't think you can say that, without experiencing it. It's also not just the stadium, the location and what around is a factor. For instance,I found the entertainment district near University of Phoenix stadium pretty cool. We tailgated, then checked that out before heading in for the Bills game. Also, just being a in a state of the art stadium just has a better feel. Going to Pittsburgh, hitting up the casino before a ball game was pretty neat. Check out the Altanta Braves new ball park and whats called "Battery Atlanta" outside the stadium, and tell me that doesn't sound awesome? Now, when you build a new stadium, typically a nice chunk of entertainment around the stadium comes with it. Sadly, it's not all about just the game anymore. People take time out of their busy lives, to enjoy the day with friends/family. Having a new stadium, and what typically comes with that, does enhance the fan experience.

    Still Blue collar man.

Just give 90% of Bills fan a parking lot with beer and a seat to sit in and we are good to go. I can personally careless about fancy restaurants or casino's

  9. If we use Watkins career to date he averages 7.46 targets per game. That amounts to 119.36 targets per 16 games. He also average .554 catches per target, .062 TD per target and 8.91 yards per target. If we extrapolate that over the 16 game schedule it is 66 receptions, 1,063 yards and 7.4 TDs. Those numbers are solid.

If you raise his targets to 9.06 per game (about 10-12th in the league) you are looking at 145 targets for the season (or 30 less than Mike Evans had last year). 145 would put Sammy in line with Crabtree and Demaryius Thomas. That feels reasonable. If you use his same career numbers with 145 targets looks like this:

    80 catches

    1,292 yards

    9TDs

That would have him top 5 in yards, top 20 in receptions and top 6 in TDs. For those that only care about the gross stats they would be pretty happy. If they throw him the ball good things happen.

    Right on.

It be great to see him get 10.8 targets (30% increase) a game like OBJ has through his career.

  10. Too bad I don't have time to watch this video again. I didn't even realize that Dawkins was on the field. I would have paid some attention to the tackle if I knew that was him! I noticed a post above that compares Peterman to Brady. I don't even want to go there, but I will just a little bit. I went to Michigan and watch every Michigan game. I knew that Brady was clutch coming out of college. He was the best QB on third down that I have ever seen (and I have watched a lot of football). No matter where the sticks were or what the situation was, he always found the open guy and got the first down. It was incredible. I would watch games with my friends and say "Brady is going to be a really good NFL QB." Now, I never imagined that he would be a league MVP, 5 time Super Bowl Champion or possibly the GOAT, but I did think he'd be very good and wished the Bills would draft him. If you watch him play, he never had, and still doesn't have, a particularly strong arm. He just has a great feel for the game, knows how to find the open guy and has enough arm strength and accuracy to get it there. He beats you with his brain, not with his arm.

In comparison to watching every college game that Brady played, I have watched Peterman only twice: the last 5 minutes of last year's Pitt-Clemson game and the 6 minute video contained in this thread. Thus, I don't have much to go on here, but he at least looks the part of a competent QB who knows when and where to go with the ball and he seems to have just enough arm to get it there. No predictions of MVPs, Super Bowls or GOAT, but I think he could have a decent NFL career.

Nice post and you can throw in Montana as well with Brady about arm strength. It really comes down to brains and accuracy.

Throw the ball with precision, be smart with match-ups, and take what the D gives you and you can be a successful QB.

Peterman fits the Bill on all listed. Lets see what unfolds, I for one really like this pick in the 5th. Low risk and huge upside if it works out.

I love this quote by Todd McShay whom had Peterman as the best Bills draft pick this year.

    http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/05/03/nathan-peterman-buffalo-bills-top-draft-pick/

"What a steal for the Bills: I had Peterman ranked as my No. 4 QB and 69th overall prospect, and Buffalo got him in the fifth round. He’s the most pro-ready of all the quarterbacks in this class. Peterman throws with great anticipation and showed the ability to handle a lot of pre-snap responsibilities in Pitt’s scheme. I was on the sideline when Peterman went into Death Valley and threw five touchdowns to hand eventual national champion Clemson its only loss of the season. Peterman played with great poise in that hostile atmosphere. The one negative with this fit is Peterman’s lack of arm strength in the windy AFC East. But he gives the Bills a reliable backup in the short term and a potential starting option in the long term if they want to move on from Tyrod Taylor in the coming seasons."

  11. 48 pages and counting for a 5th round draft pick who has his work cut out just to make the team...

    amazing...

Why? Because people are sick of talking about Tyrod and that's is all you rant about at BBMB and here?

Peterman has a ton of upside and fans are excited to see what he has, myself included. Everyone already knows Tyrod's ceiling, well maybe not everyone as there are a plenty of fans that still think he will turn into this magical pocket QB after 7-8 seasons in the NFL.

  12. Right but isnt he still fairly young and improving by the year?

His tackles went up by 30 from year 1 to year 2 (if Im reading it correctly) and along with those 3.5 sacks also garned 2 interceptions last year.

I mean.....maybe im wrong but this looks like a young player that is improving every year and is coming off a really solid one.....are those the guys that teams are actually looking for? Hence the guys that should not be availble right now?

True, His numbers are going up. Not sure if that was due to leaving Minny or not though. It was a position of need no doubt. I really hope he exceeds as well here in our system.

It's just not a sure thing is all, but what is?
