I think this has more to do with the fact that Comey gave testimony to a Congressional investigation that was in direct conflict with his written testimony.

I also think the "Russian investigation" is the most overblown bucket of bull **** since the Starr report.

Benghazi by a mile. The biggest witch hunt since the Salem Witch trials. I thought the Russia investigation was a joke, but am not so sure anymore. Trump's paranoia on Twitter during the first Comey hearing and the Clapper/Yates hearing yesterday is a typical reaction of somebody who is trying to divert attention away from a crime. However, Trump is not a normal person though and I still doubt he directly colluded with Russia. I wouldn't be surprised if people working under him did though and he's helping with the cover up.

  2. The debate of whether it's a right is pointless now as the Democrats made it a right on the federal level. Taking a right away once you have one does not sit well with people (look at the opposition on any measure that threatens the right to own a gun). Instead of Republicans debating whether health care is a right or not, they're debating about how to find a way to reorganize funds and save money by taking away certain EHB's and funding for Medicaid. Even if passed in its current form it would still be considered Obamacare Lite. What state would have the political courage to opt out of the preexisting condition clause? Republicans have been in a lose lose situation no matter what they do with health care.

  3. Quick reminder for those with blinders on.

The Affordable Care Act, deemed "Obamacare" by some, received no Republican votes in either the Senate or the House of Representatives.

In the Senate, the bill was passed with a total of 60 votes, or 58 Democratic Party votes and 2 Independent Party votes. 0 - GOP

The House passed the legislation with 219 Democratic votes, 0 - GOP

Dems had the House and the Super majority once Ted Kennedy's replacement was put in of September of '09 making it 60-40 (Lieberman and Sanders were basically Democrats labeled Independents) and that's when the ACA passed. If it wasn't for Lieberman the public option would of been included. Why in the world would you need bipartanship then?

  4. house plan getting absolutely scorched in national dialog. rightly so, its an utter piece of crap

not to say that the popular opinion is always the right one, but don might have miscalculated by pushing through a known cartoon strip of a plan just to get it to the senate. now the entire thing starts from scratch, which is a monster undertaking. if the senate fails then don is right back where he started, except that now most of the country is pissed at him not just the right wingers

a real solution needs to be bipartisan. he might regret starting that process before it even got to the senate. we'll see

Even if Senate passes the bill it has to go back to the House and it will be somewhat closer to election time so they're going to have to do a good job of selling the bill.

Bipartisanship died in 2010 with the rise of the Tea Party. Now it looks like the left will go the progressive route of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren so good luck with congress working across the aisle.

  5.

    Not much.

Again...while Medicaid guarantees people coverage, those same people have a hard time getting care. You can't just walk in to a doctor's office with Medicaid and get treatment. My sister-in-law needs to see a pulmonary specialist, you know how many in the entire DC region accept Medicaid? One - she gave up on getting an appointment after two years of waiting. My niece broke her hand...you know how many orthopedists would set it under Medicaid? Two...but she saw one at the ER, so he was forbidden from treating her, and the other was his partner, and also forbidden from treating her (Medicaid rules against self-referral.) That took going outside the Medicaid system, which took 9 weeks and turned into a $9000 surgery, paid out-of-pocket to the orthopedic surgeon.

In far too many cases, Medicaid is precisely nothing. That fact that people of your retardation refuse to recognize that, because you refuse to acknowledge that "coverage" and "care" are not the same thing, is why your "single payer" fiction is such a load of garbage. "Single payer" will not work unless you address access to care...which, if you're going make government the means of regulating demand via "single payer" coverage, requires you to also make government the means of regulating supply via access to care.

So stop living in this fantasy land of "Medicaid for everyone, single payer for all" bull ****, and call it what it is: socialized medicine, under complete government control.

I have a younger brother diagnosed with mitochondrial disease that effects where he had to quit work because of constant nausea and vomiting (food and stomach acid). and he sees about four specialists. Had no problem getting in with medicaid with any of the specialists so that may be a regional thing.

  6. The ACA was all smoke and mirrors. It provided so called insurance that for all practical purposes (except for the outliers) does nothing for people supposedly covered. Sky high deductibles and premiums costing ridiculous monthly amounts means they have insurance without actual health care. It obviously wasn't and isn't working for the insurers either. For people to criticize the GOP for trying to come up with a better plan just shows how partisan they are.

I agree. Single payer was the way to go though. It will eventually get to that though because it's the only thing that will work.

  7. well said

    exactly

they are trying to erase some of the embarrassment of the original failure with a political gesture. on to the senate where it stands no chance as it is. so this step is nothing but fluff

more wasted fkg time on bullѕhit

this crap that we consistently get from the gop on hc is disgusting

Never underestimate the Republicans ability to screw people over. The winners of this bill are insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, the rich, upper class income owners without preexisting conditions, young healthy people, and large employers. The losers are poor people, those with preexisting conditions, and older Americans who have to purchase health care as their premiums will skyrocket without the individual mandate. There is also a fine detail in the bill a lot of people are overlooking and it's if you get your insurance through work insurance companies can drop you if a catastrophic health crisis happens.

  8. If you look at what he's actually done so far, you could replace Trump's name with G.W. Bush's and I'd believe it. Time will tell whether he has the political acumen that goes along with being perceived as a successful president. Meanwhile, every interview he does it becomes more clear that he should do less interviews (especially for newspapers or magazines where his words on paper looks ridiculous) and ignore talking about US History.

  9. Good episode. When they opened with the pool scene, I couldn't help but laugh at the pool scene remembering Jesse's face when everyone dropped down all around him in BB. Mike using the power drill noise as a diversion to drive Chuck away like he used gunshots as a diversion to shoot the cocaine laced shoes last episode is what you call attention to detail by Gilligan. I liked the Gus and Hector scene in Gus's office. The cool Gus showed while Hector scraped dog crap off his shoes in his office shows why he's such a great villain in BB. I'm interested in how Hector ended up having to use a buzzer to communicate (you know it has to be Gus who caused his condition). Also, I'm dreading the falling out that may have happened between Jimmy/Saul and Kim.

By the way, it's amusing to me that in this timeline Walter is a miserable chemistry teacher.
