He/She/It made up the quotes, what makes you really believe the rest of the story isn’t made up too.

You’ve been around here long enough to have seen dozens of “Republicans” and “Independents” who profess their credentials as such only to belie the core principles and beliefs of their self-proclaimed status in their posts.

Coward is their real status. The NYT is a cowardly rag now too. It has been for some time.

It's a possibility, but I don't think even the NYT would completely make up a story because they would be done as a paper if exposed.  The risk would severely outweigh the reward.  We'll find out soon enough.

So, if the tax reforms work out then you might consider changing parties?

Are the Republicans still anti union, hell bent on entitlement reform, and want health care to go back to the old, awful free market system where insurance companies jacked up the premiums of people with pre-existing conditions?  If so, then no.

One of the more amusing quotes Woodward's book was when Spicer kept trying to get Mattis to go on cable television shows.  Mattis apparently said,

"I've killed people for a living. If you call me again, I'm going to f---ing send you to Afghanistan. Are we clear?"

What do you think of the tax cuts and deregulation?

That's a broad question, so my broad answer is I worry about the unseen long term negative impacts lower tax rates and financial deregulation may produce.  I'm hoping the tax reform bill will eventually lead to a significant increase in wages for the lower and middle class as it's been sluggish thus far.

    I'm in the Huntsman-did-it camp.

I worked my way through the weeds over on Facebook (in a thread John started), so read this, including material linked from there.

Whatever you think of the word analysis — H's propensity to say "malign," etc. etc. — the form of his "denial" is the key. I didn't think he would lie, and he didn't. That's why he said: "Anything sent out by me would have carried my name. An early political lesson I learned: never send an anonymous op-ed." The NYT op-ed writer did send it out under his own name. The NYT knows the name. It was just published anonymously.

Huntsman makes a lot of sense given that Russia and McCain were mentioned in the op-ed.  It was obvious with the praising of the tax cuts, deregulation, and robust military spending makes me think he was a deeply establishment Republican.  The McCain half staff flag fiasco at the White House may have been the last straw.  Here's an article showing just how much regard Huntsman had for McCain.

Trent Edwards made one pass, one play, that made me sit up and take notice and get all excited about him - but for the life of me, I can't remember who it was against.

It was late in the 4th. Bills were down and needed a first down to stay alive, or they were done. Edwards launched a beautiful ball down the left sideline in stride to - someone - and the Bills either kicked a FG to win or moved it in for a TD, I don't remember which.

Dammit! I wish I could remember more of it...

The only game that comes to mind was the Sean Taylor Redskins game where he hit Josh Reed in stride down the middle between four or so Skins to set up the game winning field goal.

And, I just wish I wore Nikes, so I could stop buying them.  I had not seen this one before, that was brought to my attention today, comparing cops to the slave patrol.  And, yeah, let's just dismantle the system.  That should work out good:

I get it.  What's frustrating people is a Nike boycott won't have the same impact as an NFL boycott because of the different consumer demographics.  I don't like Kaepernick after I saw him in those police pig socks, but I don't have a problem with other players kneeling to bring more awareness to more broad problems like racial inequality and social injustice.  I completely understand why a lot of people are offended though.
