If he comes cheap enough, welcome back. Being only 27 still it would hard to say no to a team friendly deal knowing what he’s capable of when at his best...

I mean, the dude should be a SB MVP. He showed up at the most crucial time in the biggest game in the universe.

I just don’t understand where anyone who buys the idea of Watkins potentially signing here thinks Watkins is gonna line up?

Why, at age 27, after being a critical part of the Chiefs offense, would he come here to be WR5 and rarely see the field?

    It makes no sense. None.

If healthy, which is rare, he would be our #2 skill-wise. He was a 2 or 3 on the Chiefs.

While your point is not wrong, I think this is looking at it the wrong way (from my point, anyway)...

It's one thing to offer a 3rd if we're competing against other teams for Ertz. I would still argue that's an overpay, but that's because I think his best football is very uch behind him. But if we're competing for him, sure, you throw out your best price.

If we're the only one negotiating for him now that the Chargers signed Cook, there's absolutely no reason to keep the price the same. Lower the offer to a 5th and call Howie's bluff. If we miss out, it's not like we're missing out on an otherworldly player anymore -- this isn't Aaron Donald we're trading for here.

He’s not going to lower the offer. That’s not how we do business with Philly.

All depends on what the offer is, really. Ertz isn't worth a 3rd -- especially when you're the only team pursuing him via trade. If the offer was always a 5 or maybe our 3 for their 4, then sure, maybe you keep the offer as is, but the Chargers bowing out absolutely changes the negotiating dynamic. Howie has a history of taking what he can get, so no need to blink early. Call his bluff and sign Ertz after he's cut...

It won’t be anything less than a 3rd.
