What scenario would be appealing to move up in the draft? What type of currency would you be willing to part with to get said player? I recognize that this is an unpopular strategy, especially considering that our big trade for Sammy has not produced as expected, but I do hope that OBD is not gunshy if the right opportunity presents itself. The one guy I'd be intrigued to make a move for is Jonathan Allen. It's not a pressing need at all, but if he got to #7, I'd at least call the Chargers. There has been some chatter about "bad shoulders", but the guy has never missed time. Long term replacement for Kyle, an immediate contributor at multiple positions across the D-line (favorably compared to Michael Bennett), ridiculous production. We have talent that can rush the passer, but this kind of move could help cement our ability to attack QBs consistently, aid our young secondary and improve the run defense with a big body to move (Kyle has never been a great run defender) I'd have a hard time trading up for a Safety and doubt a top tier corner makes it that far. Going off the value chart, a 3rd and 6th may grease the skids for a move to 7.

H2o Mock Draft 2.0 - Major Changes Across The Board

I'd much rather have a player who can play free safety & slot corner (Tyrann Mathieu) then a player who can play strong safety and inside linebacker (Deonne Buchanon) -
H2o Mock Draft 2.0 - Major Changes Across The Board

I just don't see how we can prioritize OL with a top 10 pick. We are fine there. We need to spread our draft resources on the secondary, d-line and getting additional passing weapons for TT. -
H2o Mock Draft 2.0 - Major Changes Across The Board

Interesting draft. I'm not opposed to Peppers, but like coach said, the hype doesn't line up with the tape. He could be the "moneybacker" player that many teams are employing, but is that critical in McDs scheme? I really hope one of the premier DL, S or CBs slides to us at 10! -
Chad Kelly: drafted by Denver

Disagree with much of this, but man oh man, 2013 was a terrible draft class! -
A Look Back at Football - 1939
TheElectricCompany replied to TheElectricCompany's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I looked at the all NFL offense of the 1940s. Interesting that most HBs and QBs were 170-180 lbs, 5'10" - 6'0. Brady at 6'4", 225 lbs would have been fine as a thrower and runner. He's not very athletic for our era, but back then, we would been fine. -
Adams is 36, not exactly a guy you can lean on as a long term solution. Who knows if Boston is, but he's certainly someone who should stick around.

After getting rid of Norman, there secondary was terrible. They need to keep the quality young guys around.

Can you imagine the Nigerian Nightmare or Brandon Jacobs running the option back then? You'd need a mortuary next to the locker room. -
Since many posts of the posts in the "Tom Brady, best ever" thread seem to get into the comparison of players across eras, figured I'd post this one up. This is very high quality video. It's pretty cool to see the game even before Sid Luckman & Otto Graham started making themselves known. The immediate takeaway is how unique the option game was back then. Enjoy!

Perhaps an oujia board to ask Ralph what he thinks? -
I don't buy the Bills aren't possibly moving

Not hard to believe at all. Buffalo is a top 50 metro; clearly folks do more than just go to malls and eat at restaurants That idea was floated in San Diego as a replacement for Qualcomm and was quickly axed. I'm not familiar with all the specifics, but it sounds like stadium floor space is not sufficient for most events. I believe the design was a multi level facility with the top "floor" being the football field, but it never really took off (when combined with San Diego not willing to open the bank vault to the Spanos family). -

It could happen, but they could also ask for their share of the pot (ownership). Fresh off a purchase, the Pegulas can't be in a rush to hand out shares. -

I wish it was that easy, but it's just not worth the effort for most events to go to venues that large. Places like Denver, Dallas, Sunnyvale and Seattle have beautiful venues and hardly use them outside of football. Sure, a college football game here and there, maybe a country concert that brings the venue to 75% of capacity, but they are largely unused for 350 days of the year. These are metros with much stronger economies, more people and much better weather. What leads you to the conclusion that Buffalo could offer something these metros couldn't? -

The stadium would get little use outside of NFL games. Look at the other events some of these large venues are hosting. I think the Cowboys stadium has around 6 other events planned, and that metro is huge compared to Buffalo. It will sit vacant most of the year. I would be interested in where the money would come from in a public fund scenario. This isn't Las Vegas where a small change in the hotel tax covers the gap, or a massive metro where the tax base could be spread quite wide. WNY already has some severe tax issues(property taxes are ridiculous when compared to home prices) that cannot be overlooked, and when considering investing in areas that could boost the economy, there are countless initiatives that would have far greater impact that any new stadium Without getting too ahead of ourselves, it will all come down to how much money the NFL & Pegulas ask WNY for. If we play hardball with them, it wouldn't shock me if they countered with "Well, we'll relocate the team." -

Thank goodness WNYers go to the mall and eat at restaurants. Phew! -

Let's just see how much cash the Pegulas are willing to chip in for a new field and take it from there. -
Gotta be Howard or a S in round 1
TheElectricCompany replied to BuffaloBud420's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Howard, but it's tough to taking a tight end that high. New England just won the Super Bowl without the best tight end of our era seeing the field much. If the value is there, I'd prefer more pass rushers or corners. I'm not sure if the value is there for a WR at 10 either... -
In What Round Do the Bills Take Joe Mixon
TheElectricCompany replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He'll go in the 2nd or 3rd, but not to the Bills. He's too talented to go any later than that. I do hope that was an isolated incident and he can have a great career. Less wear and tear by taking that year off too. -
Top 5 talent at any position?
TheElectricCompany replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think anyone was saying Julio was top 5 during that injury riddled year. I didn't . Two years of elite production after propelled him to the top. Be nice if he did that as well -
Top 5 talent at any position?
TheElectricCompany replied to DisplacedBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As is mine. That's a very isolated stat that doesn't directly correlate to key numbers us Joes associate with elite WR play, such as catches, yards and touchdowns. It should have some reflection in YPC, but that's just one piece of the puzzle One can't gloss over injuries either. While I do hope Sammy can rebound, stranger things have happened than seeing a young players career become underwhelming or cut short due to lingering pain. When isolated stats dont line up with the most important numbers , I think you have to be a little suspicious .
