Heck of a come back win. I thought for sure it was over when Detroit went up 4-1. But the Sabres battled back in the 3rd and tied it up. They even had to kill a penalty with less than 3 minutes left in the 3rd. Tage made a great play in OT to keep possession of the puck. He knocked a Detroit player on his ass, got the puck and set up Samuelsson for the OT winner. They finally got a win in overtime, and on the road! lol

Just make sure that they are widely accepted locally. My mom had fidelis for a while and we kept having trouble finding doctors in the area. Especially in certain fields, where it was almost impossible. She switched to Independent health and we really haven’t had any problems since. Now her plan is going away so she has to switch again. I was hoping to find her something else from Independent but that doesn’t look likely at the moment. I know Highmark blue cross/blue shield is pretty widely accepted in WNY. We have a few calls into different places that are supposed to help you sort through plans but none have even called back yet. I’m guessing these places are just overwhelmed. It seems like medicare made some pretty widespread changes for this coming year. Everyone we talk to is looking for a new plan.

I was just throwing out a general price of a top deadline rental. Maybe they can get a bit more if there’s a bidding war, and there might be because his contract is so team friendly that more teams could fit him under their cap. He would also likely be the top player available at the deadline. But pending UFA’s just usually aren’t worth crazy prices and you are going to get future pieces, which is not what the Sabres need anyway. The only way you have any chance of getting back Tuch’s true value in a trade at this point is if he’s willing to sign a new contract as part of the deal. But why would he do that if the Sabres are trading him over a million or two per year, especially if what he says about wanting to be here long term is true.

Tuch is one of their 2 best forwards among a group already lacking talent with Tuch here. If he walks, this forward group looks even worse. I’d rather pay him $10M/yr than watch him leave and have lots of success elsewhere while the Sabres don’t use the cap space they saved. Who cares about an extra $1-2M/yr on his deal when this team is never going to spend to the cap anyway (especially with the cap about to skyrocket the next 2 years…). They need to sign/keep their best players. I feel like we are in this never-ending cycle of watching our best players leave and never adequately replacing them. what are they even going to get if they trade him as a pending UFA? A late 1st and a B prospect?

I don’t know if it was a swipe at the fan base or the local media. Could be either. The local media is pretty critical of the Sabres, and rightfully so.

Sabres totally collapsed in the 3rd period last night. I thought they were getting out played before that anyway. But they were up 2-1 to start the 3rd. JJ Peterka scored 45 seconds into the 3rd period, then Crouse (iirc) scored a few minutes later and the game was over from there. It was their 4th loss in a row and 7th loss in the last 8 games. Utah was (also) on a 3 game losing streak entering last night’s game. They’ve only won 2 of their last 7 games now. Those two wins? Both against the Sabres…

They are also the only team in the entire eastern conference that is under .500 (win %) currently. It’s not as bad as it sounds, as the east is a jumbled mess in the wildcard race. Even though the Sabres sit dead last, they are currently only 4pts from a wildcard spot. But it’s still discouraging to be sitting in dead last again. And yes I know. Lots of Injuries. Still discouraging. lol

No. Don’t go with a service provider. It’s a scam. NYSEG is never allowed to charge more than whatever the current hourly rate for energy is, where as with service providers like Agway they can jack up your hourly rate as high as they want. They usually offer you a cheaper rate for a short period of time to entice you to switch to them. But then the rate will start to go way up until you are paying way more per KWH than what NYSEG is legally allowed to charge. We somehow got switched to a service provider years ago. No clue how. Our electric bills eventually ended up sky high and that’s how we found out we were getting our service through some other company and they were charging almost 3x more per KWH.

I’m with Joe Marino! Ive wanted them to go after DeBoer since the minute he was fired. He’d be the best coach the Sabres have had in a long time. It would definitely be a dream hire for me at this moment in time. I wouldn’t call Shanahan or Jarmo “dream hires”, but of the available current options they both seem like the best we could do. Jarmo is already in the organization so Pegula may have some comfort there. Shanahan has reportedly even let the Sabres know he’d be interested in a team president job. I read that DeBoer would be open to Buffalo as well and that he’s dying to get back behind a bench. It would definitely bring instant credibility to the organization. Unfortunately, I don’t see it as very likely. I could maybe see Jarmo getting the GM job but I don’t see Pegula hiring a team president and I don’t see him paying the money it would take to hire DeBoer.

The problem with that idea is there’s no way Terry would ever feel “heard” enough under Lou. Brendan Shanahan was willing to come here as team president if he had autonomy. I’d rather go down that route than hire Lou but I don’t think that’s an option either for similar reasons. I don’t think Terry wants a team president at all. Maybe at some point he becomes desperate enough to try it but I’m not sure if/when that day will come.

No, you didn’t miss anything. you need to call for assistance. They can provide free counseling to find a new plan. They are not tied to any specific companies. They are just there to help. I believe you can also set up an in person meeting at a local office but I’m not 100% sure on that.

If they could trade him for a good young top 6 center I might pull the trigger, assuming Byram can be signed long term for reasonable money. It would definitely have to be for the right player though. I wouldn’t want to see them just dump him for a mediocre top 6 C. Power is still pretty early in his development, especially by defenseman standards. Definitely not in any hurry to move on from him. But I think a true top 6 C (and really, a #1 C) is more important with the way the Sabres roster is currently constructed and with what’s in their pipeline at C and D. They have some good potential top 4 D prospects but don’t really have a true top 6 C in the pipeline, or even on their current NHL roster for that matter (Norris is a top 6 center but never seems able to play more than 1/2 a season. You can’t rely on him). I think Kulich can be a top 6 C long term but he isn’t there yet and McLeod should not be in the top 6 (he belongs at 3C). Maybe one day Ostlund could be a top 6 C but that’s certainly not something I’d bank on, and Helenius looks more like a future bottom 6 C than a top 6 C.

Another nice win! They played a solid 3 periods again tonight. Though they did make me a bit nervous in the 3rd. When the leafs got within a goal then started pressing hard to tie it, I was just waiting for the Sabres to give up a goal. It looked like a familiar late game collapse was coming. But it never did! lol Lyon made a huge save on Macelli then Power made a great play to get Tuch the empty netter and seal the win. I didn’t think it was Lyon’s best overall game, but he came up big when it mattered. Lyon seems like a great veteran addition to the locker room. I love his media interviews. He seems like an experienced, calming presence for the team. And with him playing such a big role right now I think his words carry more weight (vs. if he was just a backup). Tage seems to be maturing as a leader. I’ve liked what he’s had to say so far this season. Hopefully he’s starting to get going now. We just need Dahlin to join the party. lol. He’s Buffalo’s best player but he’s been anything but that to start this season. Imagine once he gets going too, and they add in Kesselring, and if Samuelsson keeps playing like he has… The blue line could be a true strength this season. I’ve actually been enjoying watching their games. I sure hope that continues. I so badly want to have a reason to be a die hard Sabres fan again. I miss it. But my guard is still up for sure, and I know how little patience I have for them. It’s going to take more for me to fully invest again. They were in a playoff position at Thanksgiving last season after all (which usually predicts a playoff berth).

That was definitely their best game of the season so far. Good in all phases - PK, PP and 5v5 for all 3 periods. They played with energy, forechecked hard and stuck up for each other. Good team D too. Like Dahlin said, that’s how they need to play every game moving forward. If they do they will win more often than they lose. Really loving what Josh Doan is bringing to this team. I feel like Doan and Benson both raise the compete level of the entire team. They both look like very important players to the Sabres future right now. Hopefully that holds true. lol Timmins has been a welcome addition so far too. He’s been great on the PK and holding his own 5v5. He looks better than Clifton for sure. Once Kesselring is back he should be a really solid 3rd pair D for the Sabres. I can’t wait to see what Kesselring adds to the team. If he has an impact similar to or better than Doan, that could end up being a really nice trade for Buffalo. 🤞🤞 These last 2 games have me getting a bit excited about Sabres hockey again. I sure hope they can keep playing like this and banking some wins.

That was a fun win. I actually enjoyed watching the game and didn’t change the channel all night (for once)! lol More games like that, please.

Yeah, neither has been good. lol we obviously need them to be our best players to have any chance at a better season. Hopefully they start playing better soon. I really thought we may see Thompson take a step forward (again) this season after playing such an important role for the USA winning gold in that tournament and with the Olympics on the horizon. I mean, it’s only been 3 games so there’s still plenty of time. But the overall morale of the team 3 games in is definitely concerning.
