His first response was, "I know they are a bad team and it's embarrassing but yes".

Never apologize for being a Bills Fan ... that's ridiculous .... yes that last two decades (aka the Patriots reign) has not gone as many here wanted ... but at the end of the day .. .name another team that went to the Super Bowl 4 straight years ... when we win the Super Bowl it will be much sweeter because of the support (see Chicago Cubs in baseball) .. but hopefully not 100 years.

At the start of every season .. we are tied for first place in the conference .. your work mate thinks we're tied for last.  Glass half full / glass half empty .. you decide.

I do not believe he's anything close to a franchise QB and I think that will become more evident as the season unfolds.

A lot of the excuses made in support of him last year will not be available this year with much better OL, better WR targets, etc.

PS:  I don't think anyone is questioning his heart, commitment, or even leadership skills.  But those things are not necessary to be a good QB in this league, and they are not nearly enough to overcome Allen's deficiencies at the position.

Anything close to a franchise QB?

WOW ... arguably the best rookie QB not named Baker ... 2 comebacks and 3 game winning drives .. see link ... with weak OL, no running game, with no TE and limited WRs.

and please watch his walk off game at home vs. Miami.

  3. He's no John Dorsey (Cleveland GM) ... that dude ... on paper has revamped that entire roster from Hue Jackson's team that won ... 1 win for the entire 2016-2017 seasons.

That franchise has struggled even more than ours ... so nice to see the changes there .. would love a pair of Lake Erie franchises to rise to the top and we beat them in an AFC Championship game (revenge from the 1989 playoff loss)

[1]  There are tons of college players in the draft but it is a crapshoot in most cases (outside of the first 16 or so picks) to see if those skills and measurables will work out in the NFL

Don' think you can assume top 16 picks like this ... under your scenario .. there would be no Kyle Williams or Matt Milano (5th round picks) ... or the assumption players like Mike Williams, Aaron Maybin, CJ Spiller, (top 16 picks by the Bills in the past) can't miss

I think the strategy is to use the top of the draft to get two really stud players each year. (Allen and Edmunds).  Not exactly Best Player Available, but rather player with a ceiling to be a HOF type player.  Those guys are the ones that win superbowls for you.  This may involve trading up the 2nd round pick to get the guy with the super-high ceiling.

This hasn't worked yet for Zay Jones (though I'm rooting for him) as my daughter attends ECU and we saw him play quite a bit.

Bottom line .. it's a combination ... I like what Beane is doing in Free Agency and I look just as much forward to what we do in the draft .. the draft class from 2018 and UDFA's (Wallace and Foster) show the talent evaluation of this team of college players ... TRUST THE PROCESS

I agree year 1 was a disaster .. I also agree year 2 that a lot of stats were in garbage time .. but the kid had 399 catches at ECU ... not sure how that occurs if one struggles catching the ball ... I think he is overthinking things when his number is called and needs to breathe through his eyelids and let his natural talent take over.  I look forward to his Year 3 (and year 2 with Josh).

    The Bills need WRs.

They have a 23yr old that they invested a 2nd round pick in.

    He is cost-controlled.

He more than doubled his catches in year 2.

There is zero chance he gets cut this year.

Since 2000 Shannon Sharpe  1, Gronk has 2 , Julius Thomas 1, Jeremy Shockey won 2 , Martellus Bennett 2, Dallas Clark 1 .  These guys were all considered elite when they won.

We may be expanding the definition of "elite" here .. Julius Thomas & Dallas Clark .. may owe their stats to a guy named Manning, see Bennett's stats below .. think "elite" is a stretch

    Agree to a point.

Most years are not very deep at "game changing" TEs. The past is not always a clear indicator of the future when it comes to drafts.

Last year teams gobbled up QBs in the 1st, does that mean they should go all in this year? I think "results may vary".

This year is different, and I will never understand the total acceptance of meh receivers taken rd 1, when there is clearly more mismatches for defenses trying to cover an athletic TE with hands.

TEs keep the chains moving and successful offenses usually have a good TE on their roster.

Rookie QBs benefit substantially having a solid if not elite TE. Taking one out of a solid program like Iowa is no more a risk than any other draft receiving option IMO.

With all that being said I would like to see the Bills trade down and pick up an extra pick and still get someone like Hockenson.

A great TE could grow to be a productive tandem with Allen and maybe help him by being that check down option when he gets that competitive urge to run through defenders.

IMO ... TE's typically require more time to get open .. than 3 step drops and slants to WR's .. so if you don't have an OL to allow for such time .. the TE impact is potentially mitigated.  Plus the OL IMO provides more help not only for Josh but the running game.

  8. I agree with the thread .. but someone please name me a "gamechanger" 1st round TE since I don't know (went back 5 years) .. my point is ... I'm not anti Hockerson or addressing the position .. but just not in the first 2 rounds .. get him OL and/or WR.

    Recent TE Draft History

2018 - Hayden Hurst .. Game changer think not

2017 - Quite the run .. but are we saying Engram (who has OBJ pulling coverage), Njoku, Howard (Mike Evans pulling coverage) are "gamechangers" ... noting Tre White was picked after 2 of those and just before Njoku .. think he's had more impact ... my point we don't have the WR two of these TE's have so a standalone TE doesn't greatly influence a game.

    2016 - None Picked

    2015 - None Picked

    2014 - Ebron

After reading many threads on here I have come across a lot of Bills fans seem to love a blue collar type team. A lot seem to be against having an Antonio Brown type player cause they don't fit the Buffalo blue collar type.

Why do you fans love the Blue Collar team?

Another great read this AM .. so let me take a crack at this ... I'll say Blue Collar and "Small Market" are interchangeable as someone referenced all the steel mills are gone nowadays.  We are the underdog vs. the big budget larger market teams ... we play outdoors in the elements in December like football was intended vs. climate controlled domes.  I'd also say given the economy (though improving) of Buffalo vs. other NFL towns our average Season Ticket Holder may .. just maybe have a lower annual income  than other larger NFL markets .. nothing wrong with that .. but maybe that's a better measure of the new "blue collar" in today's world.

Bottom line ... its the best fanbase in football ... and as such though the new self proclaimed "Mr. Big Chest" has talent ... some on this board may not like his style.  But he's looking to cash in one last time and I believe on the downside and do we want to pay up at this stage of his career.

Another reason I can’t stand our franchises, our fans. The loser mentality is baked into everything they do.

Someone gives an opinion to the OP and they are chastised because they don’t palm-palm waive and hopelessly defend these franchises. But this is Buffalo, a place where you simply have to be grateful for a team, and not have any standards.

ROTFLMAO!!!!  Our teams have sucked for a combined 108 seasons. 0 championships. It’s so funny, lol, giggles ddaryl.

If you can't stand the Buffalo franchises .. why are you on this board?

Good to know that all of us Buffalo fans ... have a "loser mentality baked into everything we do" ... sorry I don't buy into the Charlie Sheen mentality that you obviously have
