All the panthers telling the bills fans to sit down I bet.

I was at the game and damn it was hot.  The amount of Bills fans present was AWESOME.  The Panthers fans are a little too wine and cheese to speak up to MAFIA members.

Cam Newton is a puss .. he yacks off to Ed Oliver in Spartanburg and then doesn't helmet up for the game where he wouldn't be wearing a red jersey.

The Josh / Cole connection is fun to watch they were totally in sync.

Yeldon looked good in the 2nd half, granted against non starters

It's time unfortunately to bring in some PK's to practice as I think Hauschka is toast still from the hit from the Jets last year ... he doesn't look good out there.

I would think McCoy has zero value. You certainly aren’t getting a center of any skill back in return. McCoy is coming off a poor year, is highly paid for a RB, and is old.

You're probably right ... but let's get into pre-season and potential other RB injuries and maybe the market opens up a little.

  3. Overstating the obvious, this certainly isn't good for the player, the QB, and the team overall.

Maybe time to trade Shady for a more experienced Center than Bodine.  My point around this is with Gore, Singletary, Yeldon on roster from a depth perspective (and Shady's production last year) .. I think Center its important role and the drop off from Morse to Bodine is more serious than drop off at RB if Shady traded.

Though the injury sucks, wonder who along the D caused the concussion, first week in pads.  Ed Oliver?  I like what I'm hearing about our D so far in training camp and if their blasting OL in first week of practice maybe there is a positive thread in this injury disaster.

Home teams have always dominated, usually because they almost always were the better team, that’s why they get the home playoff game

OK .. let's take out playoffs and look overall .. again we can all have our opinion .. my just is that dome teams typically are worse (softer) than non-dome teams.  Granted there is a little age on this (from 2014) but it basically shows road records for dome teams vs. non dome teams in regular season .. though not crazy dramatic .. dome teams winning percentage on the road is 39% and non-dome teams road winning percentage is 44%.

But to above as well this link also talks about dome teams as #1 seed in playoffs ... you say potato .. I say spud.

...or maybe the w-l record in the playoffs has something to do with the fact that the dome team is going on the road...and more than likely an underdog. ;)

Not sure I'm following .. yes obviously a dome team is on the road most likely is playing outside ...but one could say based on below stat

Since NFL realignment in 2002, home teams have dominated the divisional round, winning 43 of 64 games (67 percent). Only three times, however, have home teams swept all four games. There have been six 2-2 splits.

That dome teams bring down this average or better said if you removed the dome team losses .. the percentage would be less dominating for home field advantage.

    Losses

    • Most Postseason Games Lost, All-Time, 29
    Minnesota Vikings
    • Longest Losing Streak, 9 games
    Detroit Lions, 1991, 1993–95, 1997, 1999, 2011, 2014, 2016[4]

  6. First off .. if we were in the desert .. then yes as being in a sweat box sucks.

But football is a fall sport ... layer up.

Indoor Teams are typically soft teams .. please no.

Or, maybe our roster isn't as upgraded as so many say it is.  Talk is cheap.

A lot of cognitive dissonance going on here.

    The perpetual question-du-jour.

Admit I had to look it up

    Definition of dissonance

1a : lack of agreement the dissonance between the truth and what people want to believe especially : inconsistency between the beliefs one holds or between one's actions and one's beliefs — compare cognitive dissonance

So dissonance on this Mr. Webster's
    • Morse an upgrade (I'd say so)
    • Ed Oliver .. upgrade
    • Beasley an upgrade (The analytics tell the same story — Beasley is amongst the NFL’s elite at getting himself open. Pro Football Focus (who we are mocking in this thread .. but in this case used real stats) recently acknowledged the receiver’s proficiency in creating separation. On Twitter, the statistics firm told a praise-worthy number. Last year, per PFF, 72.5% of Beasley’s targets came when he had one plus step on his defender, the highest such number in the NFL).
    • The merry cast of OL signings plus Ford pick - I'll take those road graders over last year's OL starters and 2nd string .. says something when there only may be one OL starter (Dawkins) returning from last year
    • Special Team signings - Andre Roberts averaged .. again "averaged" .. 29.4 Yards per return on Kicks and 14 yards per return on punts last year .. upgrade
    • RB's (granted old) ... but Gore (granted old), Yeldon, Singletary ... upgrade
    • Most importantly .. Josh Allen year 2 as undisputed starter, all camp reps therein, better supporting cast ... upgrade

So I'll take my cognitive dissonance and go drink some more Kool-Aid .. Go Bills!!

  8. It was so nice to read a piece about last year's roster posted by PFF in June 2019.

That's the prompt reporting that's necessary to keep all fans up to speed on current roster dynamics.

    Great work PFF.

Maybe I'll just replay last year's games this year so my watching experience of their player ratings matches their "2019 roster rating".

THANK YOU Buffalo716 .... never seen this before and what a way to start the day ... crying from the tears of laughter.  Yes Fitz will never be in the HOF ... but that's one funny SOB and I believe of all his stops ... he obviously loved his time in Buffalo the best ... the Tyrod line .. holy buckets ... lost it.

First let's start with the sports powerhouse that is Emory University opining on an athletic topic.

Second in reading the article .. as mentioned some stats are economically driven (Jersey sales, etc.) which our AWESOME smaller market team won't compete.

But the Road Equity stat involves measuring how well a team draws on the road, adjusting for team performance and we rank 13th ... now those that have been to a Bills Road Game knows how well the Mafia represents on the road .. now imagine if our Road Record last year wasn't 2-6 where that rank could be.

Can't wait for Thanksgiving to hopefully improve our Road Equity stat against the Boys ... Cole Beasley's homecoming game!

Beasley is a very adept slot guy. You can point and say well he ain’t edelman or welker but the NE system made those guys transcendent slot receivers. They’re very talented, for sure, but the system made those guys household names. Daboll comes from that NE offensive system. Let’s see what Cole can do in it before anyone calls him 2nd rate.

Just saw this tweet from PFF ... Beasley ranked #1 of all receivers in 2018 for separation of 1+ steps on 72% of passes (not including screens) .. so I won't be calling him 2nd rate either

  12. Call it being the ultimate homer or too much Josh Kool Aid ... but I think many on this board are going to be surprised by his short passing game stats this year which will directly influence Beasley's production.  Too many positive influences from one year ago:

    • Rookie Year is over
    • Full year of coaching and full camp as undisputed starter and reps therein
    • Better OL (on paper)
    • Better WR's (on paper) ..but hopefully won't have a 5 minute video in 2019 of Bills dropped passes

  13. For all the chatter of too slow or too much workload .. please compare Devin (CUSA player) to Kareem (a MAC player) .. yes Hunt is bigger but just saying I see some of the following knocks on Singletary

40 YARD Dash - 4.62 for Hunt vs 4.66 for Devin (but Devin can't outrun defenders .. damn that .04 seconds)

Didn't play against top flight competition ... MAC vs C-USA ..let's agree a push (all love to UB aside)

Used too much .. last year of college .. each had 260ish carries

Both picked in the 3rd round

One can only hope (sans the Hunt Hotel incident) that maybe just maybe we got something like the Chiefs got in the 3rd

    Draft Review comments for Hunt

    Bottom Line

Big back with plus vision and enough elusiveness to make the first defender miss. Feel for the rushing lane helps him choose the correct path between the tackles but lacks the burst to turn the 4-yard run into 14. Zone-scheme runner with serviceable hands out of the backfield. Adequate in most areas and has talent to become a backup that can step in and handle a bigger load if needed.

I think Dawkins knows he dropped off last year and has become determined to right what was wrong.  If he does, then we truly will have a top five line.

Agree on Dawkins .. bottom line ... he had no challenges or leadership from his fellow OL teammates in 2018 .... it's a totally different situation in 2019 .. the message has been sent .. step up or get sent to the bench ... I predict he responds and hopefully Morse will be a good mentor to push him forward

I'll give the draft a C. The linemen were safe, ok picks. The "skill" players are unknowns at best. It's a passable draft. I see his plan on offense is to proceed with a legion of average guys. Can't say it excites me.

Let me take a crack at what "C" stands for . .because it can't be the typical "A-F" grading scale

"C" could mean ... Calculated, Common Sense, Cunning, Clever, Cerebral, all leading to Championship ... GO BILLS!!!!

Unless they trade their 5th & 6th to move to 4th, Butler will be gone and everyone else left is just wr meh....Love our first 2 picks and Singletary will be intriguing. Dawson creek Knox landing was too expensive.

I'm for trading some of the remaining picks (except for one 7th rounder to take a punter)... reality is we really don't have a lot of roster spots (assuming the top 4 picks stick) plus the FA signings ... so potentially these later picks will be cut/practice squad

    6 hours ago, sven233 said:

My biggest issue with this pick is not the player.  He could turn out to be awesome.  My only concern is giving up 2 4th round picks to get him.  But, it looks like Beane is starting to feel like our roster is getting very close to where he wants it to be and that the chances of these lower round guys making the team is slim.  If that's the case, then this makes giving up the 2 4th rounders a bit easier to swallow.

Echo to my comments .. .totally agree sven
