  1. I think I'd rather see Josh Allen have a promising game today, and worry about draft implications later.
  2. I would have been happier with an OT like Ramczyk, to play RT, but can't deny Bills need a CB. White is a tackler like Gilmore wasn't, credited with only five missed tackles, rep as a team leader, low completion percentage, etc. Overall I think a good tradedown and still picking up a starter and contributor. McDermott said he was not into flash, and this is not a flashy pick, but solid.
  3. Don't think Peterman will last past 3rd round. If Bills end up truly interested they'd need to pick him in 2 or 3 at latest.
  4. Don't know that he's a number 2 guy but Robert Davis out of Georgia State may be a quality late round sleeper prospect. He had a great combine. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/robert-davis?id=2558254
  5. Only one I've seen so far that counts against the 30 is Hairston. Others were meets at the Senior Bowl, East-West Game and Combine I think.
  6. I don't get the thinking that Watson is a top 10 pick, and even one worth trading up for (and giving away the farm in other picks). There are QB prospects worth all that, but I don't see them in this year's draft class - and few pro or media scouts seem to either base on what I've seen in the preponderance of reports and analysis. No question Watson is a worker and has been a winner at the college level. Can't argue with that. But his measurables are essentially that of Tyrod - the latter is 6-1, 215; Watson is 6-2, 210 or so. (A couple of sites have him at 6-3 but this is likely generous - we'll see for sure at the combine). He has had issues with accuracy and decision-making, and his field vision may be no better than Tyrod's when he gets to the NFL. Let's not get suckered by the splash or "next big thing" - the grass is not always greener as we well know. And, then to throw him as a day 1 starter onto a team with few reliable receiving weapons, issues at pass protection, and a porous defense, and it is not a good recipe for success for a young QB (the running game is a positive but not enough). Like most or maybe all of the QB's in this year's draft, he would best sit behind another guy to learn the game (running a huddle, going under center, footwork, etc.). Teams need to be built as much FOR a future quarterback as AROUND a current or new one. Somebody like Prescott - as surprisingly good as he is or may be - was able to step in because he had so much built for him (or Romo, really) already. He was very fortunate in that regard. I think going QB at 10 in this draft class would be foolish (which of course means that is exactly what the Bills will do). Improve the defensive secondary, the receiving corps, even the linebackers, that's where the plums are in this draft class. Take a QB like Peterman (who btw beat Clemson this past year), or even Kelly in a later round, keep Tyrod, and begin building a team FOR the success of a better, future QB. Thanks for listening!
  7. And, though I wouldn't expect it, I would echo a couple of the comments already made about Tyrod Taylor, perhaps to the effect of "No decision has been made regarding Tyrod's role in 2017, but he's demonstrated an ability to score points for us. Maybe we can build on that, too."
  8. Wow - so much silliness and negativity! How about, "We're going to look very closely at the considerable talent that exists already on this defense - despite our 2016 record - and to a significant degree let that dictate the defense we will be running next year. Then we'll grow and build from there."
  9. I'll weigh in: Top choice at this point: Jamal Adams If not available then Mike Williams, though still worry a bit about his neck (especially given we already have a Williams with recurrent neck issues) I think Corey Davis may be an option as well, and may well move up on draft boards over the winter. He's in top 15 on some boards at this point. Overall I think Safety and WR are best bets for a top 10 pick. There is some thought that Desmond King may be a better fit at Safety than CB and he's rated in top 25. I don't see any QB in the draft worth a top 10 pick (which of course won't stop teams from taking one, or two). I'd look for Chad Kelly in the 3rd, given his injury, though desperate teams may even take him earlier. Don't think he'll last past Rd. 4 (and at the moment the Bills don't have a 4th rounder). Despite the fact that he's been a jerk off the field, he's one of the gutsiest, grittiest guys in the draft imho. If miss Kelly, late QBs might be Patrick Towles or Nathan Peterman, both who have experience under center as opposed to the spread.
  10. 2017 Bills - Malik Hooker" Malik Hooker says he's returning to school... He said he wasn't sure after the Clemson game. Has he announced that since then? He's listed on the NFL's underclassmen tracker as returning, but of course nothing truly official until later this month. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000744597/article/tracking-underclassmen-intentions-for-2017-nfl-draft
  11. I'd like an organization that is relentlessly committed to improvement (playoffs only a start), from management and coaches down to players, and one in which the fans can have some confidence that those in positions of power have the judgement, expertise and intelligence to pursue that sort of success agenda. But hey, that's just me. Right now, I feel we have an organization relentlessly committed to selling a product, of suspect quality.
