Getting back to this - Trump will destroy America and kill Americans on our streets to retain power.  But if Trump thinks 78,000,000 people will sit idly by while he tries to steal the election - the entire QOP is kidding themselves.

    Agreed.

If he wants to go down that path, he's setting the country up for widespread violence.

You can't discard democracy because it didn't work for you and expect people to lay down quietly.

There’s no one screaming because a legit election took place. No one. If Trump prevails at the SC, will you concede the battle was worth it?

He's not going to get to the Supreme Court. That's why he keeps screaming garbage on Twitter.

For that to happen, he needs to actually win a court case at a lower level, which has yet to happen.

Until they come up with some actual fraud, particularly on a level that could overturn the result, this will never get anywhere close to the SC.

Trump is currently running the same playbook most successful dictators ran to secure power.

He's currently in the "undermine election results" phase, with the next phase being to establish himself as a dictator. After that, there will be no reason to hold any elections whatsoever.

My concern is that this challenge will lead to a dictatorship.  That the challenge will turn into something where state legislatures, because if their irrational fear of the incumbent, will seek to overturn the will of the people that elected Biden.  And we can pack in the entire foundations of our country.

I agree governmental agencies can screw up.  But there simply is no evidence to suggest that tens of thousands of votes should be overturned, and despite the protests of the losing side none has been presented.

Exactly, Trump and the far right are beginning to yell and scream about having legit election results thrown out because they don't like the outcome. They scream about widespread fraud but have yet to show a shred of proof to support their claims.

If he's successful, the US as we know it will cease to exist and will become a dictatorship, because at that point why would there even be an elections in the future? Just forego the democratic process entirely because god forbid the result isn't what the dictator wanted them to be.

I do understand.  Maybe you are not as familiar with business and system process implementation as its not really the wheelhouse of data scientists.  Any new process has errors consistent with failure to conform to system specifications.   I've never seen a system or process work at 100% to conformance to specifications on day one.  If you have then you're the first.

This entire mass mail in ballot (we've had some form of limited absentee and mail in ballots before) is new and quickly defined.   Let's look at PA. The vote stands at 49.7% for Biden and 49.1% for Trump.  You're going to suggest the error rate here either by unintentional or intentional counting is less than 1%?  I call BS on that.

We can agree to disagree.  You can claim the higher ground all you want, and also suggest the state did its job correctly.  But you have no more proof of this than I do unless you were present and observing the activity.  As a scientist you should have an innate skepticism.  And these people managing and acting in the process are not machines or logical instructions.   This is not a controlled research environment.   This is a process with a lot of moving parts.  A lot of opportunities for errors.  People have motivations and skills that we have no ability to assess or quantify.  You're assuming they did their job to the letter and intent of the process.  But affidits and sworn statements along with video evidence and documented instances of process violations should be enough to require a credible recount where the margin of victory is .6%.  This margin seems well within a reasonable threshold to order a recount without hesitation and without any actions to contest the count.  That seems like a reasonable thing in the world's greatest democracy.  .

Like I said at the beginning.  Why be afraid of a recount?  If it confirms the original outcome then case closed and we move on.  If not then we need to apply pressure and put more scrutiny on the players and actors in the process.  Let's cut to the chase here too.  The fear among the resistance to a recount is a recount might alter the outcome they desire.

    This isn't really true.

There are multiple people watching the counting of mail in or absentee ballots, and for each ballot that gets counted there are adjudicators from both sides to make sure ballots are being counted correctly and that improper ballots are discarded. On top of that, there are poll watchers surveying the count to make sure it's run properly.

No one is afraid of recounts. On average recounts move a state level vote about 200 votes one way or the other. Biden's lead across the swing states is far beyond the level of a recount changing any of the outcomes.

The issue is that the Trump administration is not allowing Biden's team to begin the transition of power in the middle of a pandemic, with cases, hospitalizations and deaths spiking across the country again.

Then why aren't showing it in court with a hot and pressing urgency to do so?

They have no evidence. All of their lawsuits have been laughed out of court.

Their angle today is to avoid the courts (where they'll lose) and try their case in the court of public opinion. The right wing is claiming that because the election suffered from wide scale fraud (again, no proof) that the election results in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia need to be thrown out completely. The state legislatures in each state need to refuse to certify the results because of rampant fraud (no evidence) and toss the results out entirely.

Under that scenario, no one reaches 270, and the US House of Reps chooses the next president based off a delegates system in which the majority of Reps in each state determines who chooses the delegate. In that scenario the GOP holds  28-22 advantage.

If Trump heads out and starts holding rallies next week, this is what they'll be pursuing. The end of democracy. Throwing out legit election results solely based off them not liking the outcome and they'll essentially be trying to install Trump as a dictator, in power against the will of the people.

  7. The idea out of right wing crazies yesterday and this morning is to pressure state legislatures in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Georgia to not certify the election results because of "widespread fraud".

They want the election results tossed, with neither Biden or Trump reaching 270. In that situation, apparently state delegates in the house would elect the next president and the GOP holds a 28-22 advantage there.

If Trump begins holding rallies next week with this as his talking point, this will be the end of democracy in the US if his plan is successful.

Unfortunately for Donald he can't pardon himself for crimes at the state level.

The very smart lawyers at NY's Southern District know this and they'll be bringing lawsuits against him at the state level vs the federal level.

You're conflating topics, getting turned around and it's hard to follow your logic.

Are you suggesting DJT should not pursue legal remedy because he was impeached? Putting aside the obvious problems with a partisan impeachment that went nowher, what's the point here?

As for DJT sending our fundraising email, please provide a link.  It's not that I don't believe you, I just would like to make another donation.  As an aside, part of the liberal challenge is worrying too much about how other people spend their money. Or, perhaps more accurately, how much of the money earned they should be able to keep.  I'm good with money, it's a tool like any other and when respected, can do wonders.

I reject your assertion that the challenge is not good for America (nice hedge on 'presumed' btw), and charge you with providing evidence to support your claim.  As for the pandemic, whatever.  That ship has sailed, it paid dividends for your people at the voting booth, but as if on cue--holy crap, a vaccine!  Thank God for Donald J Trump.

    It's right on his website.

Feel free to donate as much as you want. 60% of your money just goes into Trump's pocket in the name of his "Save America" fund which is just repaying the money he spent on his campaign.

Shouldn't you worry that if the US becomes the leftist paradise you envision that Canada will have to fund a national defense on par with its geographic size.  Right now Canada would have trouble with a group of boy scouts rowing across Lake Erie from Dunkirk, NY to Welland, Ont..

Who is Canada at risk of being attacked by?

I'm starting to believe that Trump is acting like this because the campaign is in debt....The GOP is frantically sending emails to all it's members to fund his " legal battles " but the fine print clearly states that a good portion of the donations will go towards the campaign debt.....anyone with half a brain realizes that there's no way that the amount of ballots that could have been miscounted is enough to reverse the result of the election..but Donnie doesn't need another debt....can a campaign file for bankruptcy ?

    A few thoughts.

    1. Trump is definitely siphoning money from contributions into his pocket.

    2. Trump wants to keep his base fired up.

    3. Trump will run again in 4 years, and easily become the GOP nominee.

    4. Trump wants to put Biden in the worst possible position to govern, putting them in a huge hole as they begin their administration by not allowing the transition of power.

    5. Trump hopes to kneecap Biden's administration, trying to increase his odds of voters and especially independents wanting him back in 4 years.

It's all about Donnie. Everything he will do over the next 10 weeks will be fully designed to help his re-election chances in 4 years. He'll sacrifice the American people and the economy now if it helps him in 4 years.

The GOP is asking their members to contribute to the President's legal fund....the fine print actually mentions that " some " of the $ donated will go towards the Trump campaign debt.....could it be the main reason he's acting like that ? I would love to know how much $$ they owe....

    Grifters gonna grift.

They scream about fraud, and meanwhile the money they're collecting to investigate fraud is actually being used to repay the money they spent on a losing election.

There is a reason justice is blind, at least philosophically.  Tens of millions of citizens reject your assertion.  Our response?  No, we don’t burn down cities.  No, we don’t establish CHOP/Free-to-murder zones.  No, we don’t gather in massive groups and harass and  intimidate law abiding citizens as they sit at a local establishment that provides goods, services, employment and tax revenue to our local communities.

We support the adjudication of the matter through legal means.  Not 2 minutes ago I responded to @SoTier and his silly yet hateful, derogatory comments.  My crime?  Civility. Reason. Patience. And a desire to see it through.  Oh, and I voted for Donald Trump and historic low unemployment, a sensible approach to taxation, energy independence and the like.

I’ve indicated multiple times that if you and yours prevail, the answer will be revealed.

    You're not acting reasonable.

You're holding out hope of a smoking gun to expose wide spread election fraud among tens of thousands of ballots, and up until now there is no evidence whatsoever that any fraud occurred.

    That's not a reasonable position.

  15. Unlike the last four years where Trump and the GOP threw crap at the wall and let the court of public opinion decide issues, Trump actually needs proof to be successful in his current lawsuits, which he has none of so far.

All of their lawsuits are being tossed because they have no proof. Trump is going to leave Washington by Thanksgiving and probably never return. The US Government will function as a rudderless ship until Jan 20.

While your input is duly noted, your thoughts are your own and not indicative of the processes we have in place to address these issues.

If they are “wrecked in court”, you and yours shall prevail.  I’m still struggling to

understand why you and many of yours are speaking out en masse in favor of suppressing the right to due process.

As for DJT spending his money, and by extension average, hard working Americans choosing to contribute to the cause to make the world a better place, that’s politics man!  Why would you want that suppressed or mocked?

Anyway you cut it, this debate is good for America.   Lets see how it goes.

Due process is great if you have proof, which is something they have none of so far.

Also, no one on your side seemed to care about due process for Trump's impeachment.

They haven't won a single lawsuit yet, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO PROOF.

Also, Trump sent out fund raising emails and texts yesterday to pay for legal bills. The fine print read that up to 60% of those contributions would go to Trump to pay him back for the money he spent on his campaign. He's just grifting his followers into paying him back for the money he spent on his campaign, so he can walk away whole and they can put up their hard earned dollars to try to save the Titanic from sinking.

And not allowing Biden, the presumed overwhelming winner in the electoral college, to begin the transition process in the middle of a pandemic is NOT good for America. It's probably the opposite, where Biden inherits a raging pandemic with minimal time to put his people in place.

Yesterday was not judgement day.  Today is likely not judgement day.  In my humble opinion, many, many things that happen in/around and because of Washington politics go against the grain of the Constitution.  This particular issue has yet to be adjudicated and is remarkably fluid.

We should all agree that legal votes should be counted, illegal votes or votes that did not meet statutory guidelines should not.  I’ve seen no less than 5 different issues that give me pause to question validity of the process.  I do not hang my hat on so-called experts or media-analysts who tell me I should trust them and that there no gosh-durn way the election could ever be tampered with.  That defies logic, defies human nature and defies common sense.

If you are right, you and yours shall prevail.

    Let’s see what happens.

Pretty much every one of the examples of "voting irregularities" has been debunked.

Unlike the last four year where Trump and the GOP could say things and let the court of public opinion weigh in on those topics, in this situation when they say things they'll need to actually prove their claims to be accurate in a court of law, which involves presenting evidence. Without evidence, which they've yet to present in a single one of their numerous lawsuits, they're going to continue getting wrecked in court.

All of these races outside maybe Arizona is outside the scope of having any chance of being overturned. Biden will at a minimum win Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania, which is why Trump should begin the transition of power, even if he wants to continue wasting his money in court.

GA Senate going to runoff is the best thing the dems could have hoped for. GOP is dejected/wrapped up in conspiracy theories at the moment. The left already proved to have an excellent grass roots campaign in the south this year and focusing one month on one state should be enough to win both seats. If Atlanta shows up again, they're in great shape.

Without Trump on the ticket both Senate seats could be up for grabs.

Meanwhile Democrats will be as motivated as ever to tie up the Senate and give them power to do what they want.

If that doesn't discourage someone from voting I'm not sure what would.
