Ah, assumptions.  If ya ain't for us, yer 'gainst us!

Check my post history.  I actually started a forum post titled The Bills did not back into the playoffs.  I repeatedly stated Tyrod was a mediocre QB, capable of elevating a bad team and dragging down a good one.  When traded I said it was a good move for both teams and said he was just what they needed until Mayfield was ready.  I said the Bills outgrew him, I never said any other QB would be an improvement.  So, basically, all your assumptions are wrong, and the proof is right here on the board.

I understand, it's easier to write someone off as a hater, that way you don't have to address their points.  In this case, Tyrod's tenure as Cleveland starter.  You persist in handwaving that off like it never happened, ignoring it, insisting he would have played like the 2017 Bills Taylor, instead of the 2018 Browns TT.

Have a great day and Happy Thanksgiving.

You keep avoiding the question.  Lemmie spell it out.

Tyrod, putting up the numbers he did with Cleveland this season, would not have made us a playoff team.  Period.  So, what makes you think he would have done better with this season's Bills then he did with the Browns.

Sorry, 2018 Tyrod is not 2017 Tyrod.  TT on this year's Bills, with the loss of three linemen and severe lack of offensive weapons would not have done as well as he did last year...and last year's Tyrod laid an egg against the Saints, and could only put up 9 on CAR.  Not to mention that pitiful display in the JAX against a defense that surrendered far more to PIT and NE.

You're romantisizing, looking at less interceptions while assuming the remainder of the offensive production remains the same, and it just doesn't work that way.  Go watch Tyrod's Cleveland starts this year, then look me straight in the eye and tell me he could lead this team to the playoffs.

Different team, different coaches.  I believe our OC would have created game plans to better utilize Taylors strengths.  You are obviously one of the Tyrod detractors.  I find it hilarious when people in the 2017 season would whine about Tyrod not throwing for 300 yards, even though we would win the game.  HE got us to the playoffs, and he was a big part of that.

Next you will say we backed in to the playoffs.  there is no such thing.  We won enough games to make the playoffs.

You are beating a dead horse.  Tyrod is no longer on our team and he most likely never will be again.  Let it go......Please.

You saw what Tyrod did in Cleveland with the personel there.  I reiterate, what makes you think he would have done better here, with the offensive personel we have, then he did there?  You can't handwave away his performance as a Brown.

TT would Have given us a chance in all of the Peterman debacles with many fewer turnovers.  The Colts and Texans could have been wins.  5-5 record at this point with TT would have given us a fair chance for a playoff birth.

Look at Buffalo's current offense.  Look at Cleveland's.  Look how "well" Tyrod did in Cleveland this season.  Tell me why in the name of all that's good and holy do you think Tyrod would have done better here, with the Bills, then he did in Cleveland.

Or, to be more concise...no.  Hell no.  Nope.  Non, nix, nay, nun-uh...

TT would of given us a chance in all of the Peterman debacles with many fewer turnovers.  The Colts and Texans could have been wins.  5-5 record at this point with TT would have given us a fair chance for a playoff birth.

I understand why they brought Anderson to Buffalo to help with Josh Allen, but with Matt Barkely here shouldn't Allen be learning from Barkley now? In Derek Anderson's last 3 years in the NFL he has been absolutely terrible. He has throw 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and has never looked good.  He is not a good quarterback and you have to wonder why you would want a bad quarterback teaching your future franchise quarterback how to play. The NFL Anderson grew up in is nothing like the NFL of today.

Isn't this like asking a bad student to tutor your child?

You know the old saying:  those who can, do.  Those who can't, teach.  I am not meaning to diminish teachers.  The point is just because he can't play well does not mean he can not teach.

The reverse is also true.  Just because an athlete plays at a high level does not mean he or she can teach.  Mike Singletary comes to mind.  He was a great linebacker, but he was terrible as a head coach.

Michael Jordin is another example.  He admits that he would not be a good coach.  He would expect the players he was coaching to be able to do the things he could do and would get very frustrated if they fell short of his expectations.

Anderson seems to be taking to his mentor role very well.  Let's see what happens.

  6. I am just taking the season as it unfolds.  I believe in McDermott and Beane to turn this team into a consistent winner.   McDermott has a way to refocus this team and not let them give up in the face of adversity.  He is a special coach.

Beane has made some mistakes. But he has had a good draft and has made some good moves as well.  We just need to endure this season and there will be better days ahead for our beloved Bills.

    The Bills will:

    • Win each remaining game (with an emphatic win over the Pats in their house)
    • Josh Allen will average 250yds 1-2 td passes a game
    • Defense remains #1
    • We go 9-7 and make an even crazier entrance into the Playoffs than last year
    • We win a game in the play-offs but lose divisional game
    • Greatest in-season turnaround in Bills history is complete

Now you have done it.  I am all in!!!

It amazes me with how bad we are at the position how fast we get rid of a freshly signed WR.  Yet we still keep KB.  Go figure.  I know he didn't do anything and I am not upset about it or anything, but still.  They aren't giving these guys any kind of chance and yet sit there keeping an obviously heartless bum that drops pass after pass, td after td, making no effort.

I like McDermott as a coach, but he seems to have a blind spot for certain players.  Unfortunately KB is one of them.

Does anyone who wants to continue to play Barkley if Josh is healthy, honestly believe that Barkley is the future of this team?

I understand the need for immediate gratification and winning now, but that's not what this year is about.   Disagree all you want with the strategy and the vision, but starting Matt Barkley if Josh is healthy would be crazy.  By sitting Josh, the Bills would go into the offseason with a high draft pick and not knowing whether QB was a need or not.  I would rather know a bit more.  Six live games of reps is a lot of evaluation....

If Josh shows some critical flaws these last 6 weeks, it's not that terrible to draft competition with a high pick.  Josh is on a Rookie deal -- if he plays for the Bills in 2019 his cap hit is about $6.8 million to cut him before 2020.  Josh was the least polished, least experienced QB of the top 5 (including Lamar Jackson) in the draft.  He needs reps.  For the upteenth millionth time,.... this season is about assessing Josh Allen, not about winning games, particularly at 3-7.

There are valid arguments for starting Barkley against the Jags. First, after his over the top performance against the Jets, I will be tough for Allen to come in and perform at the same level as Barkley after four weeks of inactivity.  I may be better to let Barkley start, and if we build a comfortable lead, let Allen come into a non pressure situation and start to shake off the rust.  another reason to start Barkley is it would give the team a chance to go back to their original desire to have Allen learn from the sidelines for a year.  I am not saying I am in favor of this, but these are to valid arguments for starting Barkley in the next game.   This conversation is a non issue since McDermott already announced Allen will be the starter if he is healthy.

As for your first question, I do not believe many on this board view Barkley as our future franchise qb.  I do hope that he fills the position as the veteran backup.  He was a breath of fresh air on Sunday.  That was fun to watch.

    Go Bills!

Did Anderson have a reputation as a good mentor before arriving in Buffalo? Is this just a fan thing? Why is anyone convinced he would be a better mentor than Barkley?

He is older, there for he must be better...Right?

Seriously, Anderson seems to really into being Allen's  mentor.  He was sitting with him throughout the game.  he seemed to be explaining reads and fine points of the game after most plays, alt least what you could see.

Anybody wanna sign up for 7-7 heading to Foxboro?

As I said in another thread, all of our remaining games are winnable.  If our defense keeps playing strong , and if we can have even an average offense, we should be in most games.  Hopefully, by the time we play the Patriots, they will be resting players for the playoff push....who knows what can happen?

We could finish 8-8, but that would mean we win all the games texcept vs the Pats, and that won't most likely happen.  A 6 or 7 win season would be respectable.

  12. I believe they were just building a case for their outlook toward Peterman.   I am a person of faith,  and maybe that helps motivate me to try to be a better person, but I know many nice people who are not people of faith.

If there is a social bias regarding Christians, it is becoming a negative. Christians are stereotyped as being smug, homophobic, ultra conservative,  and narrow minded.   That is not the case with most people of faith that I know.   Most are just flawed people searching for answers.
