LOT more accessible now, so it will likely find more people whose predilections would have otherwise never been unearthed.

The idea that it's regulated now, and therefore somehow more controlled, is a nice concept I hope could be true. But that seems unlikely.

Either way, sports and sports betting can never be uncoupled now. So they will coexist as long as sports media contracts continue to prop up the insane appetites of all professional sports ownership groups. There is still much room for growth, provided the proposed new markets will continue to accept what we're selling. Seems likely to go on for at least a bit longer, innit?

I live in Las Vegas.  Believe me,betting is monitored and controlled.  Betting trends are carefully watched and any large or unusual bets are flagged and investigated.

With the money the betting industry generates, many eyes are on every aspect.  It is nieve to think betting is beyond control.

  2. This brings up fond memories and a funny story.

I was away for the weekend and got home late Sunday night. I had recorded this game on a VHS tape.  I sat down to watch the game and to my  disappointment the tape ran out before the end of the game.

I accepted that the Bills lost the game and went to bed.

It wasn't until Monday morning that I saw the Bills won!  I couldn't believe it.

That was a magical year and the beginning of a fun run for our beloved Bills.

Not thru authoritarianism.  I guess you one of Americans who support that?

Face it.  The train wreck that was the Biden administration and is the Demicratic party is what got Trump elected.  Lies, cover-up, insane policies like open boarders, exploiting poor people and keeping them poor is what the Democratic party is all about.

Get your own house in order before complaining about an administration that is trying to fix what the left screwed up.

Since it’s the time of year for offseason topics, what are some Bills games that still haunt you that you will never rewatch? NFL network is always showing replays. When the following games come on I turn my head or throw up. To this day I have never rewatched the following as they are too painful to relive.

Bill Titans wildcard - January 2000

Bills Cowboys - MNF October 2007

Bills Browns - MNF November 2008

Bills Patriots - MNF September 2009

Bills Chiefs Divisional - January 2022

Bills Bengals Divisional - January 2023

Bills Broncos - MNF November 2023

Bills Chiefs Divisional - January 2024

Bills Chiefs Championship - January 2024

Just about every other game since 2000 I have watched highlights or rewatched a condensed version at some point.

    What are yours?

    You covered most of them.

That is a sad and lengthy number of heart breaking losses for one franchise.

He’s been a team player for 3 years! This is a negotiating tactic and as a running back he gets one shot at this. You’re making it sound like he’s the first guy to ever do this.

Your reaction is valid as a fan, but it’s why you’re a fan and not an executive or agent. He’s not being pouty or a child, it’s actually a calculated strategy. If he gets hurt, it diminishes his value, so he is minimizing risk. I’m sure the team would like to see him there, but they aren’t taking it personally-it’s business

I highly doubt he will be there next week, and don’t be surprised if he misses a couple of days of training camp. That being said, he will end up in training camp, some very misguided fans will boo him, he will be there opening day and he will play hard for a contract if he doesn’t get one during training camp. He knows sitting out games isn’t going to get him paid big money

I have been around long enough to see this tactic play out many times.  It seldom generates the desired long term results.

Every player is risking injury every time they step on the field.  It's part of the game.  That is part of the reason why the average NFL career is about 5 years or so.

In my opinion, Cook is over valuing his worth and is hurting his reputation by his actions.

In most cases, giving a rb a second huge contract is a mistake.  I know, you can argue that it worked out for the Eagles and the Ravens, but their success was not mostly driven by their rbs.  Those teams are loaded.

  6. Cook is getting really bad advice from his brother or someone.

He should attend minicamp, attend all preseason training, and be a team player throughout the season.

That will get him a much better contract than acting like a pouty little kid that is mad because he didn't get his way.

    Grow up Cook.

No one. The cap has been going up by $25M every year, and will only keep increasing with streaming money. A short-term, $15M/yr avg contract isnt changing the dynamic for any team. We just gave role players like Shakir and Rousseau $15-20M/yr.

What players on our roster are you referring to as "high priced"? Maybe Knox? Is that a huge loss if we ditch him and his $15M/yr deal?

Here are our top hits. Which player are we really worried about losing? Maybe re-signing guys like Dave Edwards and OCyrus Torrence.

But there are a number of guys on this list that are cooked and on their way out. Milano, D Jones, heck, this team is taking a $9M hit on Curtis frickin Samuel. There is plenty of money to go around to re-sign Cook, McGovern, Edwards, Torrence and others.

We have a bunch of new rookies on the DL, so we have a handful of years before we have to pay anyone there.

    Then let's sign him.

He’s not Henry but he’s a big part of our offense. He’s also 25 and plays every game. If Brady uses him in the last two drives against KC, we might have gone to the SB. You think nothing of paying Benford $20 million and he’s a concussion away from being in danger of losing his career. Since Thurman, how many game changing backs have we wasted high draft choices on who were either injury riddled and mediocre or head cases like Lynch. We can have Cook for 3 or four more years at reasonable rates compared to the increased price structure greatl RBs will be demanding after Barkley and Henry’s deal. It’s because of the threat of Cook that Josh has been so prolific.

    All good points.

Inflated ego? He’s 25 and Henry will be 33 during the season. Cook had 1000 yards n 200 carries and 16 TDs. He’s getting better and more valuable to a team that played in AFC Championship, every year. The position has a 4 to 6 year window if you stay injury free. He’s got to get his money within the next year. You want him to say he doesn’t deserve to get paid?  He plays 16 or 17 games every year and is a matchup nightmare out of the backfield in the passing game. If he goes for 1200 yds and they get to another championship game, would he be worth Henry money then?

More power to him.  If we sign him to the contract he is looking for,  which high priced player on our roster do you cut?  In mho he is no Derek Henry.

My first game at Rich Stadium, I got to go with my friend and his grandfather to work at one of the concessions his grandfather ran. We got there early and on the way to the concessions carrying supplies, I darted through one of the tunnels just to see the field for the first time. such a cool few moments. Got chills. Fortunately I was invited to help for many more games. Too young to work concessions, my buddy and I were tasked to do pregame and halftime prep. but for the rest of the game, we just found empty seats to watch. Plenty in the mid 70s. Much more fun years after tailgating and watching, but those were good times.

What an experience for a young kid.  You were very fortunate.

Maybe, especially for players who were forced to take cold showers in their rustic locker rooms and changing area. But for fans, and especially a young ones in the embryonic stages of fandom, the place was magical. We were 4 rows from the field. You could smell the grass, cigars, hot dogs, popcorn. There was a jazz ensemble with horns rocking, set up at one end zone section. There was a great intimacy about it. It was like being transported to another era. It's no wonder 'The Natural' found the rockpile as a worthy shooting location.  Saw many games there. When (I hope) I attend a game in the new stadium, I will have a generational bridge that is partially defined by 3 different Bills home stadiums.

    Thanks for sharing.

Going to your first professional sporting event is a special memory.  When you walk through the tunnel and see that beautiful,  pristine field, it is awesome inspiring.

I haven’t felt myself getting overly nostalgic lately. Over the last 10-12 years I’ve been trying to catch the Bills on the road more. After seeing so many other stadiums, that are so much nicer, I am excited about what’s next. The current stadium is a dump comparatively. I enjoy the tailgating, my seats, the crowd, etc… but the new stadium will be such an upgrade. We really won’t be taking any of that away, just giving us a much nicer place to experience it in.

I wished you could have experienced a game in the old rock pile on Best Street.

Now that was a dump in the truest since of the word.

  13. My family purchased season tickets when the stadium opened in 1973.  We created many fond memories over the years watching our beloved Bills.  My dad had a customized van that we used for our tailgate parties.  From OJ's 2000 yard season, to our first playoff in the new stadium.  The amazing Monday night game vs the Raiders that had multiple lead changes ending with a td catch by Amad Rashad. The Chuck Knox era that brought the Bills back to respectability.  Suffering through the Hank Bullough regime.  The excitement of Jim Kelly coming to Buffalo.

It was during the Superbowl years that our kids became Bills fans.

When my parents passed, my wife and I kept the season tickets even when we moved to Las Vegas.

In 1999 we purchased a memorial paver at the stadium to honor my parents.

We gave up our season tickets after the 2011 season, when it became difficult to sell them.

My wife and I will be traveling back to Rich Stadium this year for a couple of games and to say farewell to our old friend and rekindle so many fond memories.

The new stadium will be great, but it will be so difficult when we walk out of this wonderful old structure for the last time.

I suppose this is just Starks saying he wants to beat the best, but it also comes off a little like Jalen Ramsey's "trash" take. As a rookie he might want to actually do something in the league first before calling out the MVP.

He is just living his dream.

    This is his fantasy camp.
