  1.

I said in my post that I'm glad the Pegulas are keeping the Bills in Buffalo. In fact, what is happening right now is what I'm expecting because I was against the Ryan hire from the start. Jets fans criticized him for not utilizing his challenges and terrible in-game adjustments and situation awareness and he has not improved on either aspect. He also took a good defense last year and made in worse particularly not using the D-Line when they were healthy to this potential. Rex is a not a good coach, let's not pretending at this point, we have nearly 5 seasons of evidence of that and Pegulas should've done their research on Rex Ryan before they hired him.

Good Reply. Valid points. I just differ on the time-frame.. I suggest hiring or firing a HC or GM, needs to be done on more than one season of results. ...and I say that even though my A-- H--- hurts from today.

  2. I was afraid of this happening. Look how they ran the Sabres into the dirt, and they were a good team! This coaching staff is an F-ing joke! To ruin a great defense with pure arrogance is appalling, play calling is so junior high it's sickening, and don't even get me started on the douchebag coaching the special teams!

    F$%k Whaley, too~

The Sabres that are doing pretty good now??

  3. You, young man.. or young girl.. need to get a grip.

    1. The only reason the Bills are in Bflo to make you upset is because of TP.

    2. If you expect instant NFL winnings because of one season of changes... you are wrong.

It's premature at this point to be raging at TP or RR. For context: Belicheck was 5-11 his first season with the Patsys.

  4. Round 1, pick the best player available

Round 2, pick the best player available

Round 3, pick the best player available

Round 4, pick the best player available

Round 5, pick the best player available

Round 6, pick the best player available

Round 7, pick the best player available

Then when the smoke clears, you fix your positional gaps that remain by Free Agency.

The draft is the drywall. Free agency is the mud and tape. Training camp is the sanding/priming/painting.

Oh.. in regard to OP: I believe it's too early to be judging TT a success or failure.

  5. ... Lets hope that Greg Roman that can break McCoy free....

    True dat.

Also, let's hope with the Patsy's focusing on McCoy, that will introduce a weakness somewhere else on the field to be exploited. Like, could it be a big game for our TEs as the inside attention shifts to McCoy?

  6. Gilmore (a cornerstone of the D)

Glenn (as a mid tier OT contract - if his agent thinks he's getting elite LT money elsewhere let him go, he isn't in that category)

Woods (still only 22, solid contributor, durable, has shown strong WR ability despite questionable QBs throwing to him)

Bradham (can be replaced in draft)

Agree.. regarding letting him (Glenn) go if big bucks is a demand.

Not hijacking a thread here, just want to say: while Whaley has been above average in picking up talent---I'd say he's in the top tier of GMs in deciding when to let a current team member go.

Fred Jackson fans can flame me one this, but it's true.

I endured through the post-Levy Super Bowl years when the Bill's kept players that should have been cut, or let to walk.

Oh.. back to the OP: It's a bit early to tell, let's get through the end of season. But all indications are RW will be a prime candidate for retention. He certainly seems injury resistant.. there's some value in that.

  7. I said it before and I'll say it again...by the end of the season there will be no doubt which is the worst team in the NFL -- the SF 49ers and Jim "meat sweats" Tomsula.

    You absolutely right.

And people will blame it on the suckiness of their staff this year (there's certainly truth to that)... but peel the onion back a bit, and the root cause was that they fired Jim Harbaugh last year.

And.. it was a messy breakup.

I thought I read somewhere that Debartolo's daughter said that Harbaugh was as good as gone because of his politcal viewpoints (I can't find the link). Pathetic if it's true.

  8. I didn't read pages 3 to here... 13 or so at this point.

I feel bad for the OP.

At page 2 or 3, OP said maybe he (or she) went too far. But the thread rolls on.

At least it just between us family and our little jobs.

Not on Twitter and all that.. like poor Sammy (though I hope he comes back to kick azz, he'z got skillz).

  9. the very best thing TP and KP could give you is $25MM.

To admit defeat and fire Rex. Who was here to feather his retirement anyway. He doesnt coach. He does interviews and rah rah speeches.

I have to think TP/KP say to Doug Whaley: "okay, we forced Rex on you. We apologize. So now, who do you really think can turn this around?"

You would fire a new coach with a 3-4 start?

That statement, and your username give you away as an week to week decision maker... thank you for not being the Bills owner/GM/HC.

  10. Yep. A few angels in heaven lost their wings with this loss. (pardon the obscure reference)

But what brings me relief: I'm happy to be bitching about the Bills at all.

Reflect back on RW demise.. we all feared, the team would be gone. It would be in LA, Toronto, or where ever.

We're incredibly blessed the Bills remain in WNY.

I'll take sucky Bills over no-Bills.

Having said that: don't take us fans for granted. Start to win Bills (and Sabres). Fan patience can only go so far.

I have faith. Maybe not next weekend, or this season... but I believe the Bills will deliver the goods of some substance, soon.

Thank you TP and KP (please give results, or even signs of progress)

  11.

it's time to run to the tank and get a franchise QB

    Yeah, that's an easy task.

    (I apologize for the sarcasm)

As many media articles said earlier this season: college's with their spread offenses aren't making NFL-ready passers. They all need time on bench, even the best.

Besides, I think Tyrod may have it.

  12. They did great considering the circumstances. We were down starting QB, RB 2, RG, RT, WR1, WR2, WR5, CB, DT, S, and down 27-3. They had a goal line stand. Then, shorthanded as they were, they rallied back to take the lead. Then got jobbed by the officials once again. It' would of been a tremendous victory. Instead this one hurts. It is time to regroup, get healthy and make a run. But the Bills showed me a lot today

    I second your motion.

Here's the names, for those who don't follow closely, of the non-starters today:

    • Marcus Easley
    • LeSean McCoy
    • Corey Graham
    • Seantrel Henderson
    • Marquise Goodwin
    • Percy Harvin
    • Karlos Williams
    • Kyle Williams
    • Tyrod Taylor
    • Sammy Watkins
    • John Miller

My only disappointments: penalties (today) and LeSean playing last week, being out this week (returning early from a hamstring is just stupid).

    The team showed character today.

  13. Here is the offending law, for those interested:

Sec. 106.5 - Provisions governing licensees to sell at retail for consumption on the premises. No alcoholic beverages shall be sold, offered for sale, or given away upon any premises licensed to sell alcoholic beverages at retail for on-premises consumption during the following hours:

    • Sunday, from four antemeridian to twelve Noon
    • On any other day between four antemeridian and eight antemeridian

Nor shall any person be permitted to consume any alcoholic beverages upon any such premises later than one-half hour after the start of the prohibited hours of sale provided for in this section.

Antemeridian threw me off, then I realized that meant AM.

  14.

According to Collision Low Crossers, Rex was intimately involved with the D while in New York and I assume it's the same here.

In any case, he's the Head Coach. If his DC is screwing up, it's his responsibility to fix it.

So, no, you don't have to go down a few levels. Rex brought his defense here (not Thurman's defense) and the defense he imported is not succeeding.

And it was Rex's decision to bring Thurman here to implement his defense, instead of retaining Schwartz as DC and letting Schwartz run his defensive scheme.

    Rex bears the ultimate responsibility.

We're jumping to conclusions here regarding Schwartz, maybe Ryan wanted to retain Schwartz but Schwartz said F no.

Agree.. Rex bears ultimate responsibility.. just saying it's superficial to pin the blame squarely on him when he has an OC and DC.

Maybe the OC and/or DC suck and RR has been struggling with that.

  15. Agree with the premise of OP.

Just want to add a twist: why point to Rex Ryan as the problem. People love to bash the man on top. Mainly because it's easy to do so.

Yes the man on top is overall responsible (like those Captains who go down with the ship).

But if you want to be an insightful fan, you do some analysis and bash root causes. To do that, you most often have to go down a few levels.**

The defensive coordinator is Dennis Thurman. That is the operative difference from last year--Jim Schwartz to Dennis Thurman. The difference is not Rex Ryan. **

The offensive coordinator (who I suggest is also under-performing) is Greg Roman.

    Footnote:

** I say this assuming Rex Ryan is behaving as a HC.. it could be he's still playing DC while HC, in which case I recant all previous statements.
