  1. Think about it. Darnold came out of USC much, much more refined and ready to play in the NFL. His problem was he was drafted by the Jests! GM Mike Mccagnan/HC Todd Bowles drafted Darnold and that years team went 4-12 mostly because their defense was 29th points, 25th yards- offense was 23rd points, 29th yards. Meanwhile Buffalo went 6-10 because the offense was horrid at #30th overall. Bills defense was 18th points allowed but 4th in yards allowed. The Bills retained their same staff except for OQ coach, O line coach, WR coach. The Jests fired Bowles after that 2018 season and hired Ole googly eyes and he hired renowned OC Dowell Loggains... Simply put the Jets have changed their offense and depleted their entire roster of talent. Who does Darnold have to throw to? Crowder? We all saw what happened In Buffalo with Josh only having Brown and Beasley and needing that star #1 WR. Darnold doesn't even have a Brown, Beasley much less that star #1 WR. His RB is Frank Gore who was burned out in Buffalo last season by week 6. 30+players on their Injury report. Bottom Line, I'd say Allen would be forced to play "hero" ball every game, almost every play on the Jets. I kinda doubt he would even be able to stay off IR. The Jets would still be a bad team as they lack so much talent all over their roster. However, I also doubt Sam Darnold would be doing in Buffalo what Josh Allen is doing as he simply doesn't have the arm to make so many of those Allen rockets. Buffalo would still be a good team with Darnold at QB because they are loaded with talent. Sucks for Darnold because the Jets are so bad they will probably fire Gase during this season, get the chance to draft Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence #1 overall in the 2021 NFL draft.
  2. This! I read constantly here that so many posters here wanted to draft him and yet...he came from an "air raid" scheme that so many other QB's failed at once entering the NFL. The reality was that not many were here saying they wanted Mahomes pre draft. "The skinny:Chiefs GM John Dorsey and head coach Andy Reid saw Brett Favre in Green Bay, and they have to see some of that gunslinger attitude in Mahomes. There is a risk factor here given his penchant for throwing the ball anywhere and from any arm angle (which will turn into interceptions in the NFL), and they have up a future first-round pick to get him. But if anyone can get Mahomes to adjust and succeed, it's Reid." https://www.nfl.com/news/2017-nfl-draft-quick-snap-grades-for-all-32-teams-0ap3000000804541 "Steven Ruiz of USA Today gave the Chiefs a C-minus for picking Mahomes. He wrote: “Calling Mahomes a project is a major understatement. He’s nowhere near ready to play in the NFL. And, honestly, he may never be. Between his inconsistent accuracy due to poor mechanics, his tendency to bail from clean pockets and his lack of field vision, he’s going to leave as many big plays on the field as he creates. This was a risky pick.” https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/for-petes-sake/article224076765.html The Chiefs traded up to No. 10 overall and took quarterback Patrick Mahomes from Texas Tech. Quite a few of the “experts” thought Kansas City had made a mistake. Mahomes was allowed to sit for an entire season behind first overall pick Alex Smith. That certainly didn't happen in Buffalo with Allen and in fact Josh didn't even have a veteran QB to learn on at first or an actual QB coach. Plus, this coaching staff thought Nathan Peterman should start over Allen. That sentence right there shows how bizarre the offensive thinking was in Buffalo that season. The Bills offensive line stunk and Josh was forced to run all season because the pocket broke down so often. Reflecting on that thought, nobody on the Bills scouting staff, nor Doug Whaley could be trusted to see offensive talent. That crew drafted Zay Jones with a #2 pick, #37 overall. Let's not forget that the GM and entire Buffalo Bills scouting staff were fired right after that 2017 draft and THEN hired Brandon Beane May 9th 2017. McD knows defensive talent and I'm not going to fault him for trading back for Tre White when he had Whaley and his scouts doing the offensive evaluating at that time.
  3. The 2020 Buffalo Bills look like they are on their way to another playoff season. What worries me is playing another team like the Raiders who have shown a cavalier attitude about the serious virus pandemic. Over 100 Raiders at a party on Monday with nobody wearing face masks. After repeated issues with this team and failures to stay with protocol procedures. If any of these players tests positive the NFL should forfeit the game to Buffalo and allow the Bills players to stay safe. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29633697/heart-condition-linked-covid-19-fuels-power-5-concern-season-viability "A rare heart condition that could be linked with the coronavirus is fueling concern among Power 5 conference administrators about the viability of college sports this fall. Myocarditis, inflammation of the heart muscle, has been found in at least five Big Ten Conference athletes and among several other athletes in other conferences, according to two sources with knowledge of athletes' medical care." Heart issues linked to COVID-19 gained attention last week after the mother of Indiana offensive lineman Feeney posted her son's plight on Facebook. She wrote: "Unfortunately this virus hit my son very hard compared to most of his teammates. Here was a kid in perfect health, great physical condition and due to the virus ended up going to the ER because of breathing issues. After 14 days of hell battling the horrible virus, his school did additional testing on all those that were positive. My son even received extra tests because he was one of the worst cases. Now we are dealing with possible heart issues! He is still experiencing additional symptoms and his blood work is indicating additional problems. Bottom line, even if your son's schools do everything right to protect them, they CAN'T PROTECT THEM!!" Suddenly an "elite" athlete is no longer able to play at an elite level. This might be career ending for some. Scary stuff in my view. Think about being on an airplane with the entire team traveling to another city for hours with only cloth face masks. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Safety/Personal-Safety/Personal-Protective-Equipment/Powered-Supplied-Air-Respirators/Headtops-Hoods-and-Helmets/?N=5002385+8709322+8711017+8711405+8720539+8720547+8753852+3294857497&rt=r3 Am I being over protective for my beloved Buffalo Bills? Helicopter fan? Too much? Anyway, we now have an elite superstar QB and receivers, players. I'd like to see them all stay that way.
  4. I think what sold Brandon Beane on Josh Allen was that he grew up on a farm and was no stranger to hard work. Up at the crack of dawn and worked till dark on his fathers farm. Was a scrawny 180lb 6'2'' kid when he entered Junior college and no big school wanted to give him a scholarship to play football. After 2 years of JR he sent out over 2000 emails to football schools with his resume and only two responded. Wyoming and Eastern Michigan and the latter rescinded their offer once they found out he was talking with the former. Josh Allen got to Wyoming and turned a perennial loser into a bowl game player by basically carrying the team on his shoulders. Even coming from California didn't deter Josh from playing in the snow and cold of Wyoming. In his final season at Wyoming every player that had touched the ball the year before was gone from the team, so he was playing with a bunch of rookies and still got them to a bowl game. Josh Allen knew what his problems were going into the combine and talked with Mike Mayock (now Raiders GM) about his accuracy issues.
  5. Around 98% of the posters on this board wanted Josh Rosen over Allen. Some even wanted Buffalo to give up the farm to the NY Giants to draft Rosen at the #2 spot. Some stated that they felt like they were "gut punched" when Buffalo drafted Allen. One noted supposed board draft guru had a 3rd round grade on Josh Allen and most stated he will never be good because of his accuracy issues. This was the consensus from most of the draft pundits, save Mr Hair, Mel. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/4/22/17267900/josh-allen-2018-nfl-draft-scouting-report-film-analysis-statistics-background-strengths-weaknesses "Allen will play well in an offense that emphasizes play action, moving pockets, and deep passing. He’ll struggle if he starts right away, unless coaches simplify his reads and emphasize his option to check down. He should head to a team with an established veteran so he can learn the ropes, otherwise his potential may never manifest on Sundays."
  6. Oh, because one team has another teams number... then everything unravels...no! Ravens schedule, Washington, Cincy, Philly, Pittsburgh, Indy, NE, Tenn, Pitt, Dallas, Cleveland, Jacksonville, NY Giants, Cincy. This is a playoff team that will be there at the end of the season. The Chiefs almost lost to the Chargers in OT 23-20, their next opponents, NE, Raiders, Bills. Then Denver, Jets, Panthers, Raiders, Bucs, Denver, Miami, Saints, Atlanta, Chargers. Who knows what the season holds for each team. We shall see!
  7. How's this for a reversal from the past years under McD, current Buffalo Bills offense #3 in points, #4 in yards... Buffalo defense #16 in points allowed, #21in yards allowed...#27 in passing yards allowed, WTH? The Bills line mostly giving Josh time to read a book while looking over the field. Not a point of concern atm. Although, notice how he reads the field quickly at times and makes a very quick decision to throw frozen ropes. Shades of AR!
  8. We already know as he did play college ball at Wyoming! Kinda known for nasty cold weather. Ex NY Giants QB Phill Simms stated that there are about 9 NFL QB's who can play in Buffalo in that swirling wind and it gets far worse when the cold gets here. A tight spiral can cut right through a strong wind. But yea, the snow and cold weather is strong reason to have a good power run game too. All this talk of MVP is far, far too early as there are 13 regular season games to play. We'll see how it looks at week 10 or so.
  9. While I do believe that Beane loves it in Buffalo and has very close ties to McD. Still, you need to consider what a huge promotion to team president it would be for a GM along with all that power goes with it. A huge payday along with final say over the entire side of football operations is what these men dream about. I dunno, perhaps it's just me. I just worry about losing the best thing this franchise has had since the mid eighties to early nineties. The Bills started their long slide into oblivion right after Polian left Buffalo in 1992. He then went on to help build two different franchise's into super bowl teams. Meanwhile the Bills were a skid mark for the longest time.
  10. This! It wasn't the offensive play calling that bailed the Bills out of that second half debacle. It was all Allen in finding the right receiver and getting him the ball, 3rd down and 22 are you kidding me!! 3rd and 25... The play calling should have involved more run plays and that supposed interception most likely wouldn't have even happened. Owners are going to be looking around at GMs to rebuild their fallen franchise. (Like the Jets) Look at what Beane has done in his drafts and pickups, trades. Look at his pick of Josh Allen as he managed to get the best of that draft and got the star starting MLB too. I'd be devastated to lose Beane at this point. This franchise hasn't been even close to this talented since Bill Polian! Beane is looking like a younger, better version. Daboll can be replaced far easier than Brandon Bean.
  11. I think you guys are misconstruing between what Brandon Beane has done and Brian Daboll has done. Beane built that offense for Josh Allen, drafted RB *Devin Singletary, traded for Diggs, signed Brown, Beasley. Built that offensive line so Josh has time to throw it all over to all that talent. Honestly, I'm more worried about Beane getting stolen away by a team offering him to be president/GM. The New York Jets are a mess all over the roster and Daboll would be a fool to that that job when so many others will be better with better rosters. Like Atlanta with Matt Ryan to think of one. JMO
  12. Lets go back to the 2019 Dallas Cowboys game shall we? Daboll was looking to be a head coach last year as Carolina was interested in him. Then the Ravens game happened and Allen was eaten alive by their constant blitzing...all the while Daboll kept calling for pass plays. The only team that interviewed him were the Cleveland Browns. Daboll has "always" called more passing plays like he has a veteran QB behind center with a top offensive player core. Well, now this season Allen is looking like an all pro QB with Beasley, Brown, Diggs and even rookie Gabe Davis he has a top receiving core. You can even throw RB Singletary into that mix. In my view Daboll should still be running the ball more and particularly in the second half of that Rams game as that interception sparked the Rams 29 point comeback. Motor only has 10 more carries then Josh Allen at this point. Daboll has the Patriots playbook and yet he doesn't utilize the run game like the Patriots have done. Look at what they did against the Raiders this past week. The Bills need to build their power run game enough to take over a game when needed IMO. Yes, Josh Allen has looked brilliant the first three weeks of the 2020 season and yes Brian Daboll has called some great games, so far. #4 total offense! @Raiders, @Titans, Chiefs, Patriots, Seahawks, @ Cardinals, Chargers, @ 49ers, Steelers, @ Patriots yet to play. Anyway, like others have mentions I think its a bit early to be thinking end of season just yet as so many things could happen. For my take, I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the next 13+ games and then think about what might transpire after the season. P.S. Ole googly eyes is probably gonna be fired before the Bills play them again in week 7. Gregg Williams will also probably take over...unless they really want to tank for Trevor Lawrence. Jets fans gotta be crying big time that they could have drafted Allen and chose Darnold. Come to think of it, 5 other teams are probably crying too. Texans are 0-3. Jags are 1-2. Denver is 0-3. Dallas 1-2, Eagles 0-2-1. Detroit 1-2, Minnesota 0-3. Atlanta 0-3. Gonna be lots of HCing jobs after this season.
  13. That final Buffalo Bills drive 3:21 to go on the Bills 31 yard line, 3rd down and 22 to go for a first. (Buffalo was 4 of 8 for 3rd down conversions) I honestly thought the game was over at this point. BOOM, Allen scrambles a bit and hits Beasley over the middle at the Bills 49 and Cole manages to make a first down with 7 Rams defenders closing on Cole at the Bills 53. Freaking awesome! Honorable Mention, 3rd down and 25 to go with 31 seconds to go in the game on the Rams 30, Josh hits Diggs at the Bills 15 yard line with two defenders on him. So, It's now 4th down and 9 to go. Who makes that throw into that tight a window? Next play Allen throws to Gabe Davis for a PI and it's first and goal, then hits Kroft for a TD. I have no idea how Josh Allen can scramble like he does with Balls as big as boulders...no fear too! Three Rams defenders try to take him down as he grabs the face mask and pulls one Rams defender down to keep from getting sacked... he takes a personnel foul for it. The announcer states "that is a strong man" and the other says, "Allen plays QB like a defensive player"... way to make Jim Kelly and Bills Mafia proud! What a win!
  14. With 25 seconds to go in the game that huge call on 4th down against the Rams kinda made up for the refs bonehead interception call...almost.
  15. Game balls, Allen Daboll Beasley Motor Gabe Davis Poyer HM Kroft 2 Tds, really?
  16. WTH happened to that #3 defense from last season ?
  17. Heart in my throat about to burst... this is the 7th 4th quarter win for Allen
  18. Good feeling left as quick as it came.
  19. Okay, good feeling starting to return
  20. all the momentum now on Rams side Bills need a strong scoring drive.
  21. OMG how can he be that wide open, this defense is far from the #3 defense of last year.
  22. Someone mentioned 3rd quarter doldrums. Let's hope we pick it up in the 4th quarter and find a dagger.
  23. Run it down their throat and kill some clock
  24. Here is hoping all that good feeling about this game doesn't go down the ceramic convenience when its all said and done.
