  1. We obviously differ on Humphrey. I think he's a fantastic talent already and he's still growing into his game. You know I love most of the Tide defense and I adore Reuben but I think Humphrey has the highest ceiling of the lot. If you take a look at Eli Apple, he was the 10th overall pick and his tape at OSU was way off Marlon's yet he was an early pick because of athletic ability. No doubt in my mind that he'll be a top pick. Maybe even top 5.
  2. I'm nothing special, honestly. I !@#$ up more than most people. Just incredibly lucky to have good platforms afforded to me.
  3. Obviously, circumstances that are yet to unfold will play a big part in the decision making process. After 2 weeks, I'm definitely laying more blame on the QB than the pass rush (especially with Shaq yet to play) but that might not be the case as the season pans out. I wouldn't hate picking Garrett by any means, he's a tremendous player. I would just be more tempted, especially as a new coach, to swing for the fences with a new QB. It buys a coach time, it'll hopefully provide some stability for 3-4 years as the team builds around the QB steadily. Even if we go defense with the first round pick, I'd probably rather take Malik McDowell (Michigan State DT) or Marlon Humphrey (Alabama CB). Both wonderful players and would provide an upgrade in positions that we might not have answers for (Gilmore's contract running out, Kyle Williams getting old). I think it does depend on personal philosophy and there's probably no right/wrong answer at this point.
  4. Everyone will go to Bucannon but Deone is a far more physical player and tackler. How about 2014-15 Tyrann Mathieu? Lofty expectations with that comparison but I think he could play that kind of role pretty well. I really don't like making comparisons but I think Peppers is a guy I have to find a blueprint for before I can fully justify him early.
  5. It raises a very good question. If the Bills are that bad, why would they prioritise pass rush over quarterback? Picking 2nd would mean a new staff and, you'd imagine, no Tyrod. Garrett would mean both passing on a QB and dropping either a $9m/year pass rusher or a 1st round investment to a bench role. Garrett is freaking unbelievable but I'm not sure he's franchise altering in Buffalo given the circumstances.
  6. I just watched a bit of him for my CFB preview. He's decent, he's intriguing. Just not sure what to do with him. Can't be a full-time LB, he's a hitter not a tackler, that'll catch up to him eventually. He can play a little bit of nickel corner, weakside LB, strong safety. He can run, he can cover in man or zone, adds value through versatility and special teams. Matchup kind of guy, not sure if that's worth everything or nothing in terms of draft value.
  7. If the first 2 weeks are an indication, he won't see a lot of him. Darby will get him in base sets, 3-wide or more, Fitz is primarily in the slot.
  8. I'm currently at a financial impasse with work. Someone asks for my opinion, I'll probably whine a little about it.
  9. I'm looking into it. Probably a season-long project, see if I can find some suitable candidates. I'm very enthusiastic about life after Rex. Not sure about the "expert skills" though
  10. I might not think much of Flash as a player but I'm damn proud to have guys like him on the team.

  13. Long time lover of conspiracy theories and long time hater of Rex. Even I think you're nuts.
  14. Just looked at the 'Trent concussion game' for Bills Wire. Our starting lineup from that game. We were 4-0 with this. Dick Jauron may have been a genius. Trent Edwards Marshawn Lynch James Hardy/Josh Reed/Lee Evans Robert Royal Jason Peters/Derrick Dockery/Melvin Fowler/Brad Butler/Langston Walker Chris Kelsay/Marcus Stroud/Kyle Williams/Aaron Schobel Kawika Mitchell/Paul Posluszny/Keith Ellison Ashton Youboty/Jabari Greer Donte Whitner/Ko Simpson
  15. I remember seeing his college highlight reel a few years ago. I almost knocked it off because of the music but his leg is bananas. I distinctly remember this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrpVXYGSxIs Him and former Bills UDFA Jake Dombrowski just obliterating punts. Tampa Bay. Was watching him on the Week 2 All-22 vs Arizona. He's getting there.

  17. I remember the Kyle Orton "9000 yards" rant. That was pretty funny.

  19. Force personnel mismatches by going faster than they can substitute. Especially with guys like Clay, Shady, even Bush that can line up in the backfield/inline and then flex out to the slot. What they've been doing hasn't worked, maybe a polar opposite approach isn't the most insane idea.
  20. I laughed so hard at that, I thought I was dying.
  21. "Rodgers is averaging 5.9 yards per attempt, about right in line with Blaine Gabbert (5.8) and Case Keenum (5.7)" I don't know what the problem is with Rodgers but I have a bit of a theory. It's a possibility worth entertaining that he's gotten so used to those broken plays and slices of mindblowing magnificence that he's fallen out of rhythm with the offense and his own game. He was so lax with the ball in the pocket on Sunday. It's almost like a fireman setting fires to get acclaim for putting them out. He's been an incredibly efficient guy but one game of above 65% completion since Week 4 of last year. Only once above 60% in his last 7 regular season and playoff games.

  24. So he's not A Josh Reed or The Josh Reed?
  25. I think the nickname has been around since his college days. I've definitely seen people use it for a while.
