With the cap savings maybe we could fix the OL and get another WR. You may be on to something!
Imagine Peterman with the eagles offense. He'd only throw 2 picks a game.

Smoke & mirrors. We all know darn well that our new WR Coach will be from the Panthers.
Jerricho Cotchery could be a possibility. Played there, coached there. Currently a WR coach at a small university so this wouldn't be a lateral move.

I wasn't happy with Dorsey this year. But I've made my peace with him being the OC next year. So let's give him an NFL caliber o-line to work with, and a real WR2.

I think there were multiple factors to their rookie success this year. Scouting, coaching, injuries, and lack of depth. But it is impressive that they were able to plug in their rookies and not miss a beat.
Their coaches are able to adapt scheme to utilize their players. Meanwhile, our coaches keep the athletic, first round CB with ball skills on the bench because he doesn't fit the scheme.

This team has 3 players whom I would never question their heart or passion to win. Josh, Stefon and Matt. These are the type of players you build around, not ever get rid of.
I really don't understand people questioning his attitude. He's not being a diva, he's not trying to pad his stats. We're lucky to have him. I wish we had a few more with his fight.

To be fair, he wasn't plucked by Daboll and Shein until late in the season when their WR corps was decimated.
But it is concerning that a team with drop problems couldn't find a place for Hodgins' sure hands.

I hope the person that is our #2 next year is not Davis or Shakir because Shakir will be our #3 slot receiver and Davis the 4th receiver on the roster.
I think this is exactly right, and would be ideal. We need a real playmaking WR2. That guy isn't on the roster right now.

Interesting that this is a lateral move. By all accounts he was well liked in Buffalo. I wonder if he wanted out or if we werent overly interested in having him return.
Either way maybe itll be a change for the good since our WR development was lacking last season.
I think he wants to be an OC one day. He was just falling down the totem pole here. I wish him the best until they play the Bills.

I hear his responsibility will be to pick a play out of a hat on third and long.

Give him a chance to develop. He performed worse at the end of the year after an ankle injury and after he started getting more attention because Von wasn't there. 3rd year was always going to be his big step year anyways. He started just 13 games in college and took a year off from football during covid. He will be 23 when the season starts, younger than a lot of rookies will be. So he was never going to hit his ceiling right away. I'm really excited to see him reach his potential and I think we start to see it this year.
And he was recruited to Miami to play as a WR. He converted to DE. That's just nuts. He was always going to be a project, and it does seem like he's developing well.

I hope it’s Shakir, but if we scoop up someone better, great.
Dirty is gadget wr5-6. Had his chance and didn’t deliver like we needed him to.
wouldn’t be shocked to see Beasley back and getting some reps if we move on from Dirty entirely.
really hope for an upgrade @ WR2.
Agree with everything here. The slot is very mental, hopefully Beasley can mentor Shakir (who showed promise). I'd be okay with Beasley starting the season with Shakir transitioning as the season moves forward. Like you said, we need a real WR2. Hopefully a playmaker type. Gabe is a great 3 or 4. I don't see a role for dirty anymore.

Considering they got away with the music city forward lateral a few years before, I think it was kind of a 🍆 move to pull this kind of special teams play. But whatever.

Yeah a trade down at some point seems imminent this year.
With our cap situation and expiring contracts, we need an influx of young cheap talent. I'd love 8 or 9 picks in this draft.
One of the reasons so many rookies played for the chiefs this season, besides excellent coaching, is that the team lacked depth. I think that will have to be the Bills next year.

I think you mean, "on the cheap."

There is soooo much more to playing LB than rushing the QB. Good linebackers like Edmunds and Milano take away huge chunks of the field and force QBs to have to make much more difficult throws into much tighter windows. In the modern game an incompletion is almost as good as a sack, it's a play for no yards and a loss of down.
Edmunds does seem to struggle with weaving through traffic in getting to the QB. But as you said, he is great at taking away chunks of he field. His lack of splash plays is likely due to Frazier's scheme. I feel like he'd be a big play monster on the 49ers defense.
While he doesn't make those big plays, he just seems to lower the overall efficiency of the opposing offense. That is incredibly valuable, as you suggest.

Roseman is the best GM in the NFL. He has hit on the draft and free agency. Plus, and this is big, when his moves don't seem to be panning out, he moves on instead of stubbornly trying to make it work.

This conversation has some real 2003 vibes. I'm getting terrible flashbacks of the early drought years.

Mahomes has a top 3 all-time TE, a good o-line, and probably the most QB friendly offensive mind in the history of the NFL.
Burrow has Chase, Higgins, Mixon, Hurst, and Boyd. Stacked offense.
Rivers has 2 HOFers in Gates and Tomlinson.
Allen has Diggs.

Cook better learn to be a better blocker in the offseason if they let him move on. Blocking is a MUCH more important element to a RB in our system than people give credit.
He should probably hit the squat rack this off season and bulk up his lower half a bit.

Reinforcements are coming through the draft that’s the way we have to do it now
It seems to be a good year for interior o-line. Several good prospects expected to go in rounds 2 and 3. I'd like to use both for that and a playmaker in the 1st.

This team has been winning a lot of games. Clearly, "the process" has brought playoff caliber football back to Buffalo, and for that I am grateful to McBeane. But this upcoming season is a turning point for this regime.
"The process" hasn't brought championship caliber football to Buffalo. We have 3 years of getting out coached in the playoffs and seem to be getting further away from the superbowl rather than closer.
Diggs reaction on the field seems to suggest that the players may be feeling the same way. He has that C on his jersey because his teammates chose him as a captain. Rumor is that he was telling Josh to not listen to the coaching and to trust what he sees.
McD has shown a willingness to adapt. Frazier has not. It's too early to tell with Dorsey. But it seems that, left unchanged, the players may lose faith in "the process." McD benches players for fumbling. If he's going to keep the staff, he needs to bench his coordinators schemes a bit and get them to adapt the gameplan to their personnel.

Hey, Marv. The fans wanted Haloti Ngata over Dante Whitner.

Re-sign him? That should be completely out of the question and why would we want him back?
A rookie would do better than he did this year. Certainly couldn't do any worse.
I was just kidding, man. Considering some of the craziness on this board, I can see how you thought I was being serious, though.
